“Shoppable Instagram images” can mean two different setups:
- Instagram product tagging: products are tagged inside Instagram posts and linked to an approved Meta catalog.
- A shoppable WordPress feed: Instagram images appear on your site and link to WooCommerce products or other URLs.
A normal Instagram embed only displays a public post. It does not create a catalog tag or product link. Choose the outcome you need before installing anything.

How to tag WooCommerce products on Instagram
Use this route when the product tag must be visible in Instagram itself. Approval is controlled by Meta; no WordPress plugin can guarantee eligibility or approval.
1. Check commerce eligibility
- Confirm that your products and business meet Meta’s current commerce requirements.
- Check whether Instagram Shopping is available for your account and market.
- Review the current requirements in your Meta Business account because supported regions and policies change.
2. Connect your business assets
Create or use a Meta Business portfolio (formerly Business Manager), connect the Instagram professional account, and assign the relevant business permissions. WooCommerce’s extension documentation describes this Meta Business Suite/Manager connection flow.

3. Build or sync the product catalog
Use an integration that supports the Instagram workflow you intend to use, or upload the catalog through Meta’s current tools. Do not assume that the current Meta for WooCommerce integration enables Instagram Shopping: WooCommerce documents that Instagram Shopping support is unavailable through that integration and separately notes that Facebook/Instagram checkout is unsupported for its catalog. Verify the current status in your account before relying on it.
4. Submit for review
Connect the catalog, verify your store domain if Meta requests it, and submit the account and catalog for Instagram review. WooCommerce says review can take days and that availability varies by region.
5. Tag products in a post
After approval, create an Instagram post, choose the option to tag products, select items from the connected catalog, and publish. WooCommerce’s guide describes a limit of five products for a single-image post and 20 for a multi-image post; because that instruction may be dated, confirm the limit shown in the current Instagram app before publishing.

How to add a shoppable Instagram feed to WooCommerce pages
Choose this route when shoppers should browse Instagram imagery on your WordPress site and click through to product pages.

1. Install a feed plugin with product associations
Select a plugin that supports Instagram content, post moderation and links to WooCommerce products or URLs. The WooCommerce Marketplace listing for Instagram Sync describes approved-post moderation, per-product post associations, grid, masonry and carousel layouts, and shortcode placement. Spotlight’s vendor guide describes assigning posts to WooCommerce products or arbitrary URLs and embedding the feed with a block or shortcode. These are vendor-documented features, not independent performance tests.
2. Connect Instagram and select a source
Authenticate the account and choose the source supported by the plugin, such as your account or a hashtag. Hashtag feeds can include public posts from other accounts, not just your store’s content. Use distinctive hashtags, enable moderation where available, and approve each image before it appears.

3. Associate posts with products
In the plugin’s post-review or product-association screen, map each approved image to the matching WooCommerce product. If the plugin supports URL targets, use those for landing pages, collections or campaign pages that are not products.
4. Place and test the feed
Insert the plugin block or shortcode on product pages, a shop landing page or another storefront location. Preview desktop and mobile layouts, click every image-to-product link, and check that removed Instagram posts no longer appear. Confirm that you have permission to display third-party content before approving it.

- Copy the URL of a public Instagram post.
- Edit a WordPress post or page and add the Instagram block.
- Paste the post URL and publish or update the page.
- If WordPress cannot create the embed, convert the block to a link instead.
WordPress documents that only public posts can be embedded. Meta’s official Meta Embeds plugin also supports URL-based rich Instagram embeds; it makes an oEmbed request and loads Meta embed scripts in the visitor’s browser. Neither method adds a WooCommerce product tag.

Instagram does not show product-tagging options
Check that the account is professional, the catalog is connected, the business and products meet current Meta requirements, and the review has been approved. Regional availability and policy decisions can prevent the option from appearing.
Catalog products are missing
Check catalog diagnostics, product availability, variant data and the connection between the Instagram account and catalog. Re-sync or re-upload through the integration currently supported by your Meta account.

Hashtag feed contains unrelated images
Replace broad tags with a distinctive campaign tag, turn on moderation, and approve only content that is relevant and properly licensed for display.
Embedded post is blank or fails
Confirm that the post is public and that its URL is complete. Try the WordPress Instagram block or Meta Embeds plugin again; if the embed still fails, leave it as a normal link. Also consider whether browser privacy tools or blocked Meta scripts are preventing rendering.
Which method should you use?
- Want customers to shop without leaving Instagram? Use Instagram product tagging and complete Meta catalog eligibility and review.
- Want Instagram inspiration on your product pages? Use a moderated WooCommerce shoppable-feed plugin and map posts to products.
- Only need to show a post in an article? Use the native WordPress Instagram block or Meta Embeds plugin.
Recheck WooCommerce and Meta documentation before setup: integration support, checkout capabilities, review rules and regional availability can change.
