Add the author’s biography to their profile first, then insert or configure the block in the single-post template. You do not need a plugin unless the native block lacks a layout or profile field you want.
1. Add a biography to the author’s profile
The author biography comes from the user profile, not from text typed directly into the Post Author block. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Users > Profile (or edit the relevant user), then enter the biography in About Yourself. The Post Author Biography block draws its text from that profile field, as described in WordPress’s Post Author Biography block documentation.
2. Find the template that controls your posts
If the info box should appear on posts using a particular template, open that template in the site editor and inspect its existing blocks before adding anything. WordPress’s Post Author block documentation says single-post templates include a Post Author block by default. If one is already there, configure it rather than inserting a second copy.
3. Insert or configure the Post Author block
In the editor, use the block inserter to search for Post Author. You can also type /Post Author in a paragraph block and press Enter. Select the block to open its settings.

- Enable the avatar and biography if you want them shown.
- Choose whether the author name links to the author page.
- Adjust the avatar size and use the available color, typography, and dimensions controls to style the block.
The block’s available controls may vary with the editor context and WordPress version. For a biography-only element, the separate Post Author Biography block can be inserted by searching for it or typing /Post Author Biography.
4. Preview the post before publishing
Preview a post that uses the template you edited. Check that the expected author’s name, avatar, and biography appear, that the author link behaves as intended, and that there is only one author box. If the biography is missing, revisit the relevant user’s About Yourself profile field.

A plugin is optional, not required for a basic author box. Consider one only if the native block’s fields or layout do not meet your needs—for example, if you need additional profile fields or a different presentation. WordPress.org listings describe plugins that provide author-profile blocks, layouts, shortcodes, and widgets, including Author Bio Box and Molongui Authorship.
Before installing one, check its current maintenance and compatibility information, confirm it provides the feature you need, and consider how it fits your theme. A plugin listing describes advertised features; it does not establish compatibility with every site.
