The activation method depends on which Kaspersky product you have and how you bought it. For a current Standard, Plus, or Premium subscription, sign in to the My Kaspersky account used for the purchase and install the app from that account; activation is usually automatic. Older products and some retail licenses use a 20-character activation code. Android and Apple devices have their own app-specific flows.
First, identify your product and activation method
“Kaspersky Security” is not a single product name. Kaspersky’s current home-security lineup includes Standard, Plus, and Premium, alongside older products and separate apps for different platforms. Check the exact product name in your purchase confirmation, My Kaspersky account, or installed app before following a menu path. Kaspersky’s home-security page lists its current plans and supported platforms.

For current Standard, Plus, and Premium subscriptions, Kaspersky says purchase details are saved to My Kaspersky and the application activates automatically after you install it through the account. A separate activation code is generally not needed for these plans. See Kaspersky’s subscription and activation guidance.
Prepare before activating
- Have internet access so the app can verify the license.
- Use the installer for the correct Kaspersky product and operating system.
- For an account-based subscription, have access to the My Kaspersky account used at purchase. For a code-based license, locate the activation code and purchase details.
- Check that your device’s date, time, and time zone are correct; inaccurate system time can interfere with activation.
- If the installer identifies incompatible security software, follow its product-specific removal instructions rather than disabling protection broadly.
Kaspersky identifies internet access as a prerequisite in its Android activation instructions; its legacy Mac licensing guidance also calls for internet access and accurate system date and time.

Activate a Standard, Plus, or Premium subscription
- Go to My Kaspersky and sign in with the account used to buy the subscription.
- Open Subscriptions and select the relevant subscription.
- Expand Apps, choose the app for your operating system, and select Download → Download now.
- Run the installer and complete the installation.
- When prompted, sign in to the app with the same My Kaspersky account. Allow it to connect and verify the subscription.
- Open the app’s main window and check its protection status and subscription details.
Kaspersky documents the download path as Subscriptions → select subscription → Apps → Download → Download now, followed by choosing the operating system. The Windows installation guidance is for Kaspersky for Windows 21.26 and was updated February 17, 2026. Read the current download and installation instructions.
Activate a license with a code
Use this route only if your product or purchase provides an activation code. Kaspersky documents the format for applicable products as four groups of five characters, such as XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. An order number, license ID, or subscription number is not necessarily an activation code.
- Open the main Kaspersky application window.
- If a trial is active, select License, then Enter activation code. If the license is missing or the trial has expired, the code-entry option may appear directly in the main window.
- Enter the 20-character code, keeping the groups and characters accurate, then continue through the activation dialog.
- Wait for the licensing server to verify it and check the app’s license status and expiry details.
The precise labels can differ by product and version. Kaspersky’s Windows instructions apply to Kaspersky for Windows 21.26 and were updated March 16, 2026. See its activation-code steps and status indicators.

Find a missing activation code
- Online purchase: Search the purchase-confirmation email.
- Retail card or box: Check the back of the card, Quick Start Guide, or included documentation.
- Applicable license in My Kaspersky: Sign in and open Subscriptions to check the subscription information. To resend an available code, open account management, go to Activation codes, and choose Send.
- Third-party seller: Contact the seller for the code or proof of purchase.
Kaspersky says this code-retrieval guidance does not apply to Kaspersky Security Cloud, Password Manager, or Standard, Plus, and Premium subscriptions. If a physical card or CD is lost, Kaspersky may be unable to recover its code. Check the product-specific account guidance.
Activate Kaspersky Internet Security on Android
The following labels are from Kaspersky’s Internet Security for Android help flow; other Android products or app versions may use different wording. Ensure the device has internet access.
- Open the app and go to Settings → License & Account → Activate premium version.
- If the app detects a My Kaspersky license, select it.
- If it does not, choose I have an activation code, enter the code, and tap Next.
- Alternatively, choose Purchase a license to complete the purchase through Google Play.

Mac and iPhone: use the instructions for the specific app
Kaspersky lists separate macOS and iOS apps; do not assume the Windows activation menus or Android steps match them. For a legacy code-based Mac product, Kaspersky’s cited instructions use a Licensing window and an Activate button. Current Standard, Plus, and Premium subscriptions are generally managed through My Kaspersky instead of a manually entered code. Read the legacy Mac activation instructions and check the help for the exact app installed on an iPhone or Mac.
Confirm that activation worked
Installation alone does not prove that a paid license is active. On current Windows versions covered by Kaspersky’s 21.26 documentation, an activated app displays “Your protection is live now”, the remaining number of license days, and a green status indicator, unless another warning or problem affects the status. Check the app’s own license or subscription details as well. Kaspersky’s Windows activation guidance describes these indicators.

The subscription does not appear in My Kaspersky
- Check the purchase confirmation for the email address used at checkout, then sign in with that account.
- Sign out and back in, then check Subscriptions again.
- If you bought through an app store or partner, check that purchase channel and contact the seller if the entitlement is missing.
- If you bought directly from Kaspersky and the subscription still does not appear, contact Kaspersky Customer Service.

The app has no activation-code box
A code-entry control may be absent because the product uses account-based activation and does not need a code. In the Windows workflow Kaspersky documents, the control may become available after a subscription term expires. Confirm the product and license type before looking for a code field. Check the Windows licensing steps.
The code is rejected
- Compare the entry with the original code, paying attention to similar characters such as
0andO, or1andI. - Check for missing or extra characters and make sure the code is intended for this product, edition, and region.
- Check whether the code has expired or reached its device limit.
- If it came from a third-party seller, ask the seller to verify it and provide proof of purchase. Avoid unofficial “activation tools” and suspiciously cheap keys.
Kaspersky cautions that the documented code format applies to products that use codes; it is not a universal activation method for every Kaspersky service. If the supplied string does not match the format, check the packaging or contact the seller or Kaspersky support with proof of purchase. See Kaspersky’s code guidance.

This can happen if the license has been used on more devices than it allows or an old device remains associated with it. Do not keep retrying the code; use Kaspersky’s account or product-specific device-transfer guidance to review the license. Device limits vary, so check the terms attached to your subscription. Activation fails despite a valid purchase
- Confirm the device is online and the system date, time, and time zone are correct.
- Verify that the installed app and edition match the license.
- Update or reinstall using the installer provided for your subscription or product.
- For an account-based license, sign out of My Kaspersky in the app and reconnect using the purchasing account.
- Remove an existing license key only if the instructions for that specific Kaspersky product recommend it.
- If activation still fails, contact Kaspersky support or the seller with the receipt, account email, product name, and exact error message.
Purchases, renewals, and cancellations are separate from activation
If you have no valid license, use Kaspersky’s official purchase route, the app’s own purchase flow, an app store, or an authorized partner, depending on the product and region. Kaspersky’s US home-security page currently lists Standard, Plus, and Premium, but availability and included features can vary by region and platform. Kaspersky describes website, application, and partner purchase routes.
Activation does not renew or cancel a subscription. Check the checkout terms and receipt for the term, device count, renewal settings, and price. Kaspersky’s US page says renewal pricing may differ from introductory pricing and displays a 30-day money-back guarantee; eligibility and availability should be confirmed for the offer and region at checkout. Review the US plan page and current terms.
If Kaspersky is unavailable in your region, does not support your device, or is not a product you want to renew, use the platform’s built-in security or choose another reputable security app from an official source. Activation trouble alone is not a reason to buy an upgrade: first check the account, license, purchase channel, region, and device limit.
