You can ask Facebook to show a desktop-style webpage on an iPhone using Safari, Chrome, or another browser. Start at facebook.com, then turn on that browser’s desktop-view option and reload. This changes how the page is requested; it does not guarantee that Facebook will show every feature available on a Mac or PC.
Which method should you use?

Facebook’s mobile site is associated with m.facebook.com. That is not the desktop version. Enter facebook.com in your browser, then request desktop view. Simply changing the address may not force a desktop layout because Facebook can still adapt what it serves to the device and browser.

Method 1: Request the desktop website in Safari
- Open Safari and go to facebook.com.
- Sign in if Facebook asks you to.
- Tap Safari’s Page Menu button beside the address or search field.
- Tap More, then Request Desktop Website.
- Wait for Facebook to reload. If the page looks unchanged, reload it manually.
Apple documents this command in Safari’s Page Menu under More, when the option is available. The Page Menu is separate from Safari’s Share button; its appearance and position can vary with the browser’s layout, including whether the address bar is at the top or bottom.

If you cannot find the Safari option
- Check that the page is open in Safari, not inside Facebook’s in-app browser or another app’s embedded browser.
- Look for the Page Menu beside the address field rather than tapping Share.
- The option may not be available on a special login, checkpoint, or redirect page. Try it after opening the main Facebook site.
Method 2: Set Chrome’s default site view to desktop
On iPhone and iPad, Google documents a default site-view setting in Chrome. Its documented path is:
- Open Chrome and tap More.
- Tap Settings, then Content Settings.
- Tap Default Site View and choose Desktop, if that is the label shown in your version.
- Open
facebook.comin a fresh tab, or reload the Facebook tab.
Google’s iPhone and iPad Chrome help documents this desktop-or-mobile site-view control. Menu names and organization may change between Chrome releases. Do not assume Android instructions that say More → Desktop site describe Chrome on iPhone; Google documents those separately.

If Facebook still looks the same, close or reload its tab, open a fresh one, and type facebook.com instead of using a saved m.facebook.com bookmark. Sign in again if needed.

Method 3: Try another browser or open the full address
If you already have Firefox, Edge, or another current browser on your iPhone, open it and enter facebook.com directly. Open its page or options menu and look for a command such as Request Desktop Site, Desktop Website, or View Desktop Site, if offered. Turn it on and reload Facebook.

Menu labels and availability vary by browser and version, so there is no single verified path to give for every alternative browser. Facebook recommends keeping browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge up to date. Trying another browser can help identify a browser-specific issue, but it does not guarantee a different Facebook layout or feature set.
Open Facebook in a browser instead of the Facebook app
You do not need the Facebook app just to visit Facebook on the web. Open Safari or Chrome yourself and type facebook.com; Facebook’s login help uses that address for web login.

If you tap a Facebook link and it opens inside Facebook’s in-app browser, open that browser’s options menu and choose Open in external browser, if available. Facebook documents this option for links viewed in its app. You can also copy the link and paste it into Safari or Chrome. If iOS offers to hand the link to the Facebook app, cancel and enter the address directly in your browser.

Desktop view is a request, not a guarantee. Facebook can still adapt its responsive page, redirect to a mobile experience, or limit what a browser can do. A missing control may also reflect your account, region, a security check, or a feature that requires the app or a computer—not a setting you missed.

Try these steps in order:
- Check the address bar: use
facebook.com, notm.facebook.com. - Confirm the browser’s desktop-view option is active.
- Reload the page, or open Facebook in a fresh tab.
- Try a private tab and sign in again. This can help when a stale session or saved site state is involved.
- Try another current browser.
- If a critical feature remains unavailable, use a computer for that task rather than repeatedly changing the address or relying on unsupported URL tricks.
Clearing Facebook’s site data is another possible reset, but it can sign you out. Do that only if you know how to sign in again. If login keeps looping or Facebook presents a checkpoint, complete its security or recovery steps through Facebook’s official login help. Do not broadly disable security protections to force a login.
Make the page easier to use on an iPhone
A desktop-style layout can be cramped on a phone. Try rotating the iPhone to landscape and using the browser’s page zoom controls. You can also connect an iPhone to a larger display where supported, but a larger screen does not turn the browser into a full desktop environment or guarantee that Facebook will show its computer layout.
Keep your login safe
- Check that the address bar shows
facebook.comor a legitimate Facebook subdomain before entering credentials. - Use the official Facebook app or a current, established browser such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Do not install unknown apps or configuration profiles advertised as Facebook desktop-mode tools, and do not give your Facebook password to a third-party service.
- Sign out when using someone else’s device.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Facebook on an iPhone without the app?
Yes. Open facebook.com in Safari, Chrome, or another browser and sign in on the web. Some tasks may still work differently or be unavailable in a mobile browser.
Is m.facebook.com the desktop version?
No. Facebook identifies m.facebook.com as its mobile site. Start at facebook.com and use your browser’s desktop-view option if you want a desktop-style layout.
Does desktop mode unlock every Facebook feature?
No. It requests a different page presentation; it cannot override account, regional, security, browser, or app requirements.
