To accept ACH payments in WordPress, connect an ACH-capable processor—most commonly Stripe—through an integration that matches your site. WooCommerce stores can enable ACH in the official Stripe extension; service businesses, nonprofits, and others without a product catalog can use a standalone form plugin such as WP Simple Pay. Stripe’s documented ACH Direct Debit option is for eligible US-based Stripe users receiving USD, so verify your account, plugin plan, and customer authorization flow before launch.
Choose the WordPress setup that fits your business
| Use case | Recommended path | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Online store with products, cart, and orders | WooCommerce plus the official Stripe extension | ACH is available to your Stripe account and appears in the checkout you use |
| Service payment, donation, deposit, or simple invoice-style form | Standalone payment-form plugin such as WP Simple Pay connected to Stripe | The current plugin tier includes ACH direct debit and any recurring or customer-management features you need |
| WPForms payment form | Use only for payment methods its current documentation explicitly supports | The reviewed Stripe add-on documentation does not establish ACH availability; do not assume it supports bank debits |
Stripe describes its ACH Direct Debit documentation as accepting USD directly from a customer’s US bank account. Eligibility and configuration depend on the Stripe account and integration you use. See Stripe’s ACH Direct Debit requirements before promising this option to customers.
Path 1: Enable ACH in a WooCommerce checkout
This is the natural route when your WordPress site already uses WooCommerce for products, orders, taxes, shipping, or subscriptions.
Recommended Free Tools
1. Connect Stripe to WooCommerce
Install and connect the official Stripe extension for WooCommerce. Complete the connection and any account verification requested by Stripe. Do not switch your live checkout until the connected account is eligible for the payment method.

- Run your business all in one place with the free Square Point of Sale app. Track your sales, manage inventory, accept tips, send receipts digitally, and more.
- Works with Apple devices with a Lightning connector.
2. Turn on ACH
- In WordPress, open WooCommerce > Settings > Payments.
- Open Stripe, then select Payment Methods.
- Find ACH (ACH Direct Debit), enable it, and save the settings.
WooCommerce documents ACH among the additional payment methods available in the Stripe settings panel. The documented configuration path is described in WooCommerce’s additional-payment-methods guide.
3. Confirm the customer-facing checkout
Open the checkout in a test transaction and verify that ACH appears only when the order and account conditions allow it. Check that the order records the resulting payment state and that the customer receives the confirmation your store intends to send. A payment option being enabled in settings does not by itself prove that every product, currency, or checkout configuration can use it.

A standalone form avoids adding a full product catalog when you need to collect a service charge, event deposit, donation, or one-off payment.
WP Simple Pay
The WP Simple Pay listing on WordPress.org expressly identifies ACH direct debit for US bank accounts through Stripe. Compare the current Lite and Pro features before choosing a tier: the listing does not make every advanced form, recurring-payment, or customer-management capability universal across plans.

Configure and test the form
- Install the plugin from its current WordPress.org or vendor distribution and connect the Stripe account.
- Create a payment form for the amount or pricing model you need.
- Enable ACH direct debit in the form’s available payment methods, if your connected account and plan expose it.
- Publish the form on a staging page or otherwise controlled page first.
- Submit a test payment and inspect the form result, WordPress record, Stripe dashboard status, email confirmation, and any webhook-driven fulfillment.
Because plugin capabilities and Stripe eligibility can change, treat the live customer flow—not merely an editor toggle—as the acceptance test.
Customer authorization: the mandate matters
ACH is a bank-account debit, so the checkout must obtain and retain the customer’s authorization in the way required by the processor and applicable rules. Stripe defines a mandate as “a record of the permission that your customer gives you to debit their payment method” in its Mandates API reference.

- Use the integration’s supplied authorization language and confirmation controls rather than adding an improvised consent checkbox.
- Make sure the customer can see what business is requesting the debit and what payment they are authorizing.
- Keep the processor’s mandate and payment records associated with the WordPress order or form submission.
The exact authorization wording and record-keeping requirements can vary by processor setup and transaction type. Obtain current compliance advice for your business rather than treating a plugin’s default text as legal advice.

- Account and geography: Stripe’s cited ACH documentation is scoped to US-based Stripe users receiving USD. Confirm your account’s current eligibility in Stripe.
- Integration evidence: Use an integration whose current documentation explicitly lists ACH for the configuration you plan to run.
- Plan limits: Check whether ACH, recurring payments, receipts, or customer records require a particular plugin tier.
- Authorization: Confirm the form records the customer’s mandate and displays the required consent experience.
- Status handling: Test how pending, successful, and failed outcomes appear in Stripe, WordPress, email, and any fulfillment automation.
- Security: Keep WordPress, WooCommerce, and payment extensions updated, use HTTPS on payment pages, and restrict administrator access.
Why you should not assume every Stripe form plugin supports ACH
Stripe connectivity alone is not proof that a WordPress form accepts bank debits. The reviewed WPForms Stripe Pro Addon documentation explains Stripe payment-form setup and requires HTTPS for a live payment page, but it does not establish ACH as an available payment method. Use WPForms for ACH only if current official documentation for your exact version and configuration confirms that support.

Testing checklist
- Run the complete form or checkout on a non-production page.
- Verify that the ACH option is shown to an eligible customer and that the authorization step is clear.
- Confirm the WordPress order or submission is linked to the correct Stripe payment record.
- Check the customer and administrator messages for accurate amounts, business identity, and next steps.
- Test a non-success outcome in your staging workflow so fulfillment does not rely on an assumed immediate settlement.
- After launch, monitor Stripe and WordPress status changes and keep the integration documentation bookmarked for configuration updates.
Current sources cited here do not establish a universal ACH fee, settlement time, return window, or dispute period. Those terms are processor- and integration-specific; check the applicable Stripe and plugin documentation before publishing them to customers.
Which option should you use?
Choose WooCommerce’s Stripe extension when ACH must live alongside a catalog, cart, and order workflow. Choose a standalone form when you only need to collect a defined payment without store infrastructure. In either case, proceed only after Stripe confirms account eligibility, the integration exposes ACH for your setup, and a test transaction proves that authorization and status handling work end to end.
