Google Maps Gold is not an official Google Maps subscription or premium edition. The name is used for a third-party training program marketed by LocalAutoPilot. Its advertised approach combines local lead generation, websites, Google Business Profiles, call tracking, and selling or referring enquiries to local businesses. The underlying marketing services are real, but a profile built for a lead-generation company—or one representing a made-up business or location—can conflict with Google’s eligibility rules.

What is Google Maps Gold?

In the commercial search context, Google Maps Gold refers to a course marketed on the LocalAutoPilot website and attributed there to Chad Kimball. The page describes training for generating local enquiries and connecting them with businesses. It is not a Google app edition, badge, or paid Maps tier.

Google Maps Gold is not Google Maps Gold. The name belongs to a third-party course, not an official Google product. The course’s description is the vendor’s account of what it teaches; it does not establish that the method will produce rankings, calls, or income.

Is Google Maps Gold made by Google?

No official Google source identified here presents a consumer product called Google Maps Gold. Google says eligible businesses can add or claim a Business Profile at no charge, and its product information describes profiles as a way for businesses to manage how they appear on Search and Maps. That free service is distinct from paid advertising. See Google’s instructions for adding or claiming a Business Profile and its Business Profile overview.

This does not mean every use of the phrase “Google Maps Gold” is automatically fraudulent. It means the course is third-party training, and buyers should assess its claims and methods separately from Google’s products.

How the advertised lead-generation model works

The course page describes a local marketing approach that aims to attract calls or enquiries and pass them to a local provider. In simplified form, the proposed flow is:

  1. Choose a local service niche. Identify a type of service and area where potential customers search for a provider.
  2. Build a web presence. Create a website and, according to the advertised method, set up or manage a Google Business Profile.
  3. Attract enquiries. Try to reach prospective customers through local search visibility and the website. Visibility and lead volume are not guaranteed.
  4. Track and qualify leads. Use phone or web enquiry tracking to understand what came in and whether it is relevant.
  5. Connect enquiries to a provider. Sell, refer, or route the leads to a local business.
  6. Charge for the service or leads. Possible arrangements include a monthly marketing fee, a per-qualified-lead or per-call fee, or a referral fee. The specific terms depend on the agreement with the provider.

Google says third-party managers must not guarantee top placement or claim a profile will appear in Maps or Search at all times. Its third-party policies explain the limits on representation and ranking claims.

What does the course say it includes?

LocalAutoPilot’s sales page lists training related to choosing a niche, setting up a name and phone number, call tracking, prospecting, websites, and Google Business Profile setup. It also advertises templates, checklists, calculators, and short training videos. These are descriptions on the vendor’s page, not independent evidence of the training’s quality or of typical student outcomes. See the Google Maps Gold sales page.

Why Google Business Profile eligibility matters

A Business Profile is intended for an eligible business that interacts with customers in person. Google’s eligibility guidance says businesses generally need in-person contact with customers during their stated hours. It also lists lead-generation agents or companies among ineligible business types. That creates a direct policy concern for a setup where the listed entity exists primarily to collect and sell leads for other businesses.

Google’s Business Profile eligibility and ownership guidance sets out the in-person-contact requirement and ineligible categories. Its Maps user-generated content policy says fake or made-up businesses are not allowed. A profile cannot become eligible simply because it attracts search traffic or forwards calls.

Locations, service areas, and duplicate profiles

A mailing address or virtual office alone does not establish an eligible business location. Google’s address and location guidelines explain restrictions on virtual offices and coworking spaces. A service-area business should use accurate service areas and generally maintain one profile for its central office or location, rather than creating a separate profile for every city it hopes to reach; see Google’s service-area guidance.

Ownership and authorization

A marketer should not present themselves as Google or take control of a business profile without permission. Google’s guidance calls for authorized representation and an owner who remains informed and able to manage the profile. The business owner should retain ownership, with a marketer added as an authorized manager where appropriate. This makes account access, handoff, and transfer procedures important parts of any client agreement.

Reviews and ranking promises

Reviews should reflect genuine customer experiences; fabricated reviews or other fake engagement can trigger removal or account restrictions. Google describes these restrictions in its policy on prohibited and restricted content. A marketer also should not promise a particular Maps ranking or continuous visibility, as explained in Google’s third-party policies.

Which versions of the model are safer—and which are risky?

Potentially legitimate service Potentially noncompliant approach
Managing an eligible client’s genuine profile with clear authorization Creating a profile for a fictitious business or a lead-generation company
Correcting the real business’s information and improving its website Using a mailbox or unsupported virtual office to appear local
Tracking calls transparently under an agreed client arrangement Concealing who receives calls or misrepresenting the business answering them
Charging for documented SEO, advertising, or profile-management work Guaranteeing a Map Pack position or permanent visibility
Encouraging honest feedback from real customers Fabricating reviews or customer activity

The distinction is between providing marketing services to a real, eligible business and creating a lead-only identity that purports to be a local business. Google’s rules make that distinction consequential; the label “rank-and-rent” does not by itself establish whether a particular arrangement complies.

How much does Google Maps Gold cost?

The retrieved LocalAutoPilot page displayed an introductory price of $9.97, a claimed list price of $97, and a stated 30-day money-back guarantee. The course price is not necessarily the total cost of operating the model. A website, domain, hosting, phone or call-tracking service, email outreach, advertising, software, and any coaching or contractor work may add expenses. The available pricing information does not establish a complete or typical total investment.

What to check before buying

  • Eligibility: Does the training explain that Google lists lead-generation companies among ineligible Business Profile categories?
  • Who the profile represents: Is it the real local business, or a separate lead-capture identity?
  • Ownership and access: Who owns the profile, domain, website, phone number, analytics, and lead data? Can the business take control or transfer accounts?
  • Full costs: Are software, advertising, coaching, or other charges additional to the displayed entry price?
  • Refund terms: Are the deadline, conditions, and process clearly stated at checkout?
  • Evidence: Do examples show the niche, location, time period, costs, revenue versus profit, and unsuccessful cases—not just testimonials?
  • Risk handling: Does the training explain suspensions, appeals, customer consent, review rules, and lead handoffs?
  • Promises: Treat claims of guaranteed rankings, automatic leads, or passive income cautiously; Google does not guarantee placement.

A third-party review published on June 23, 2026 describes the offer as a rank-and-rent course and alleges possible upsells. Those are the reviewer’s claims, not verified pricing terms; the current sales and checkout pages are the sources to consult for the offer you would actually buy. See the third-party review.

Alternatives for local marketing

Manage a real business’s local presence

Work directly with an existing eligible business, with written authorization and owner-controlled account access. Services can include maintaining accurate profile information, improving the website, and helping the business communicate with customers. This is different from inventing a business identity to capture leads.

Use Google Ads for paid traffic

Google points businesses that do not qualify for a Business Profile toward advertising options such as Google Ads. Costs depend on the campaign, location, and auction; there is no universal price or guaranteed return. See Google’s guidance for businesses that do not qualify for a profile.

Consider Local Services Ads where eligible

Google describes Local Services Ads as a channel through which eligible service businesses can receive calls or messages. Availability and eligibility depend on the business and market. Its service-area business guidance discusses this option.

Use a lead marketplace or referral network

A marketplace or referral arrangement may let a marketer test lead sales without creating a questionable Maps listing. Trade-offs can include fees, shared leads, competition, and lower margins; compare those terms with the cost and operational demands of generating leads yourself.
