“Roblox Player” is the common name for the app that runs Roblox experiences. You normally do not download a separate program with that exact name. Instead, install the official Roblox app from Roblox.com or your device’s official app store, then open an experience and choose Play.
Use only Roblox.com, the Microsoft Store, Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, or Meta Quest Store. Avoid third-party “Roblox Player” installers, APKs, scripts, and “free Robux” tools.
Quick answer
- Windows or Mac: Sign in at Roblox.com, open an experience, select Play, install the prompted app, then select Play again.
- Phone or tablet: Install Roblox from the device’s official app store.
- Xbox, PlayStation, or Meta Quest: Install Roblox from that platform’s store.
- Account: Creating a Roblox account is free and is the normal way to sign in and play.
How to install Roblox on Windows
Use the Roblox website
- Go to Roblox.com and create an account or sign in.
- Open any experience and click Play.
- When Roblox prompts you, download and open the installer.
- Allow the installation to finish.
- Return to your browser and click Play again to launch the experience.
Use the current Microsoft Store app
- Open Microsoft Store and search for Roblox – Windows.
- Choose the newer app with the blue icon and install it.
- Open Roblox and sign in.
Roblox says the older Microsoft Store app is named simply Roblox; after testing the new app, remove the old one if it remains installed. How to install Roblox on Mac
- Visit Roblox.com and sign in or create an account.
- Open an experience and select Play.
- Download the installer when prompted.
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile and complete installation. - Return to the browser and select Play again.
Roblox supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later. Its supported website browsers include Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

How to install Roblox on phones, tablets, and Chromebook
iPhone and iPad
- Open the Apple App Store.
- Search for Roblox and verify that the publisher is Roblox.
- Tap Get, authenticate the download, then open the app and sign in.
Roblox lists iOS and iPadOS 14 or later as required. Supported minimum Apple devices include iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, iPod touch (7th generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad (5th generation), and iPad Pro models listed by Roblox. Details are in the mobile requirements.
Android
- Open Google Play Store.
- Search for Roblox and confirm the official publisher.
- Tap Install, then open Roblox and sign in.
Android 8.0 or later and OpenGL ES 3.0 support are required. Meeting those requirements does not guarantee that every device can run every experience smoothly; hardware limitations can still cause warnings or loading failures.
Amazon Fire tablets
Install Roblox from Amazon Appstore if your tablet is supported. Roblox lists the Fire 7 (9th generation), Fire HD 8 (8th generation), Fire HD 10 (9th generation), and Fire Max 11 (13th generation) among minimum supported devices. Newly released or prerelease Fire models may not be supported immediately.

Chromebook
Roblox supports Chrome OS 53 or later, but the Chromebook must support Android apps and have Google Play Store enabled. Turn on Play Store in Chrome OS settings, install Roblox from Google Play, and sign in.

Xbox
Install Roblox from the Xbox Store on a supported console, then sign in with your Roblox account. You may need to sign in to a Microsoft/Xbox account and complete account linking. Cross-platform play with PC, Mac, mobile, and other supported platforms is available, but some social and account functions are easier or available only on PC, Mac, or mobile. Console parental controls and purchase restrictions are controlled partly by Xbox.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
- Open PlayStation Store and search for Roblox.
- Select the Roblox icon and choose Add to Library.
- Start Roblox from your Game Library.
- Sign in, using Quick Login on a computer or phone if offered.
Roblox is available on PS4 and PS5 in select countries. PlayStation supports cross-platform play with Xbox, iOS, Android, desktop, and Meta Quest users, although features vary by country and platform. Meta Quest
On a Quest 2, Quest Pro, or Quest 3, update the headset to Meta Quest software version 57 or later, open Quest Store, search for Roblox, and install it. Meta Quest 1 is not supported. See Roblox’s Meta Quest FAQ.
Roblox Player versus Roblox Studio
Roblox Player is the informal or legacy term for the software used to play experiences. Roblox Studio is a separate free Windows and Mac creation application for building and publishing experiences; you do not need Studio to play. Its setup information is at create.roblox.com/docs/studio/setup.

What to do if Roblox will not install or open
If clicking Play does nothing
- Close Roblox and your browser.
- Restart the device.
- Try another supported browser.
- On Windows, install the current Roblox – Windows app and avoid leaving conflicting old and new apps installed.
- Sign in again and try the experience.
- If the installation is damaged, uninstall Roblox, restart, and reinstall from an official source. Roblox says reinstalling can replace missing or damaged files; follow its reinstallation guidance.
If Roblox will not install
- Confirm that your operating system and device meet the relevant requirements.
- Check free storage and your permission to install apps.
- School, library, employer, or parental management may block installation.
- Security software may block the installer; check its alerts without disabling protection broadly.
- Confirm that you downloaded Roblox from an official store or Roblox.com.
Advanced Windows network checks
Roblox identifies local files in a path similar to C:Users<Your Windows Username>AppDataLocalRoblox and identifies UDP ports 49152–65535 in connection troubleshooting. These are not first-line fixes. Do not broadly disable your firewall; consult Roblox’s third-party and antivirus guidance or your network administrator.
If the app installs but experiences lag or fail to load
- Check RAM, graphics capability, device temperature, and background applications.
- Test Wi-Fi stability.
- Determine whether one experience fails or all experiences do.
- Check whether that experience supports your platform.
- On mobile, remember that an operating-system match does not overcome weak hardware.
Is Roblox Player free?
The Roblox app is free to download and you can begin playing free experiences without buying Robux. Robux and other in-app purchases are optional. Console purchases follow the platform’s payment, family-control, and refund rules; PlayStation purchases, for example, are subject to PlayStation’s refund policy. Parents should configure age, privacy, communication, and spending settings before a child plays.

Why does Roblox ask me to install something after I click Play?
On desktop, the browser is handing the experience to the Roblox application. Install it once, then click Play again.
