Open Facebook and check Memories first. On the app, tap your profile picture or Menu, choose Memories—possibly under See more—and look for a card labelled Year in Review, Your year in review, Recap, or Memories recap.
Facebook does not currently document a permanent Year in Review video archive or guarantee that every account will receive a recap. If no recap appears in Memories, Facebook may not have generated one, or it may no longer be showing it.
Find your Year in Review video in the Facebook app
- Open the Facebook app and sign in.
- Tap your profile picture or Menu.
- Select Memories. If it is not visible, tap See more.
- Look for a recap card or video labelled Year in Review, Recap, or similar.
- Tap the card to play it. If Facebook provides Edit, Share, or a similar option, you can use those controls from the video screen.
Menu names and locations vary by device, app version, account, and Facebook’s interface tests. Facebook’s current Help Center identifies Memories as the place to view resurfaced personal content, but it does not promise a Year in Review video for every user.

- Sign in at Facebook on a desktop browser.
- From the Feed, open Memories in the left-hand menu.
- Review the available Memory cards and look for a year-end recap.
- You can also try opening facebook.com/memories directly.
Also check your notifications and recent Feed posts. Meta has historically surfaced Memories through notifications, Feed messages, and the direct Memories page, although that historical product description is not a guarantee that a current recap is still available.

What if Facebook does not show a Year in Review video?
Seeing ordinary Memories does not mean Facebook created a Year in Review video. Memories is an ongoing feature that can show older posts, tagged posts, anniversaries, friend-related moments, and other resurfaced content. A year-end video is a separate, occasional recap assembled from selected activity.
If there is no recap card, Facebook may not have generated one for your account, may have limited it by region or experiment, or may have stopped surfacing a temporary card. There is no currently documented universal button that forces Facebook to create the video on demand.

Facebook has offered personalized recap videos in the past. Historical coverage described options to preview, edit, and share such a video, but that older reporting should not be treated as proof that the same feature is available to every account today.
Search for a video you previously shared
If you remember watching or sharing the recap, search for an existing copy rather than trying to regenerate it.

- Check your profile posts. Scroll through posts from the relevant year and look for a Facebook-generated video or shared recap.
- Review Activity Log. Open your profile, find Activity Log, and inspect posts, shares, and media activity from that period.
- Check Photos and video areas. Facebook’s profile layout varies, so look under More and review available media sections.
- Check Reels. Facebook renamed the former Videos tab to Reels in June 2025, and new video posts are being integrated into the Reels experience. Current navigation may therefore not match older instructions that tell you to open a permanent Videos tab. See Facebook’s Help Center explanation.
- Search Facebook. Try
Year in Review,year review,recap, andmemories. This is only a troubleshooting attempt, not a guaranteed recovery method. - Check notifications and old Feed prompts. A recap may have appeared as a temporary prompt rather than as a permanent profile video.
If you shared the video, it can remain discoverable only while the original post exists and its privacy settings allow you to view it. If it was shown only as a private preview and was never posted, it may not exist as a normal video in your profile.
Why can’t I see my Facebook Year in Review?
- Facebook did not generate a recap. Eligibility may depend on available activity and Facebook’s account-specific decisions.
- The feature was not available to your account or region. Facebook features can be rolled out selectively or tested with limited groups.
- The recap was temporary. A seasonal card may have expired or been removed from the Feed.
- Relevant content is unavailable. Deleted posts, removed photos, changed privacy settings, or unavailable tagged content can affect what Facebook can include.
- Your interface is different. The app may place Memories under See more, while desktop navigation can change after layout updates.
- There may be a temporary app or account problem. Update Facebook, close and reopen the app, sign out and back in, and try the desktop Memories page. These steps may fix a display issue, but they cannot create a recap Facebook never generated.
Can I manually create Facebook’s Year in Review video?
Facebook’s current official documentation explains how to view Memories, but does not establish a universal control for manually generating a Year in Review video. If no recap card or prompt appears, you should not assume that a hidden setting or search term can force one to appear.

You can still make your own year-in-review video or slideshow from photos and videos you saved to your phone or computer. That is a personal alternative, not a way to recreate Facebook’s automated recap. Facebook may not be able to reproduce the original video, especially if the source posts or media were deleted or their privacy settings changed.

Do not enter your Facebook password into a third-party page claiming it can unlock or recover your Year in Review. Avoid browser extensions, apps, and “recovery services” that request account credentials or promise access to Facebook’s private recap system.

A genuine prompt should open inside Facebook or on an official Facebook or Meta domain. If you find a shared video, verify its post privacy and avoid reposting it publicly without checking who can see the original content.
Quick decision guide
- Memories shows a recap card: Open it and use the available play, edit, or share controls.
- No card, but you shared the video: Search your profile posts, Activity Log, media areas, notifications, and Reels.
- No card and you never shared it: The temporary preview may no longer be recoverable.
- You want a recap anyway: Create one manually from your saved photos and videos.
As of 2026, the safest answer is: check Memories, but do not expect a permanent or universal Facebook Year in Review section. Facebook has offered these recaps historically, while current official documentation supports Memories as the main place to look—not a guaranteed annual video or a manual generation tool.
