Download Zoom Workplace from the official Zoom Download Center or your phone’s official app store. Choose the installer that matches your device, open it, approve the requested permissions, then sign in or select Join to enter a meeting. You can often join without a Zoom account.
Before installing Zoom
- Use a supported operating system and an internet connection.
- For calls, have speakers and a microphone; add a webcam if you want video.
- Some computer installations require administrator permission.
- The app is free to download. Zoom also offers a free Workplace Basic plan; its current plan page lists meetings of up to 40 minutes and 100 participants (verify limits on the live page).
Zoom’s current app name is Zoom Workplace, although meeting invitations and older guides may still say “Zoom Meetings.”
Install Zoom on Windows
- Open the Zoom Download Center.
- Under Zoom Workplace for Windows, choose Download (32-bit), Download (64-bit), or Download (ARM64).
- When
ZoomInstaller.exefinishes downloading, open it from your browser’s download list or the Downloads folder. - Follow the installer prompts. When it finishes, launch Zoom Workplace from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
Which Windows download should you choose?
- 64-bit: the normal choice for most Intel- and AMD-based PCs.
- ARM64: for Windows computers with ARM processors.
- 32-bit: only for an older 32-bit Windows installation or a specific organizational requirement.
Zoom’s current requirements list Windows 10 and Windows 11 support; Windows S Mode is not supported. Current releases do not support Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1. Zoom identifies version 5.17.11 as the last version for those older systems, which should not be treated as a current security or feature release. See the Windows, macOS, and Linux requirements.
Install Zoom on a Mac
- Open the Download Center.
- Under Zoom Workplace for Mac, choose Download for Apple Silicon for an M-series Mac, or Download for Intel for an older Intel Mac.
- Open
zoomusInstallerFull.pkg, normally in Downloads. - Select Continue, choose installation for all users or just your account, and select Install or Install Software.
- Enter an administrator password if macOS requests one, select Close, then open Zoom from Applications or Spotlight.

Allow camera, microphone, and screen access
Installing the app does not automatically give it access to your hardware. In macOS, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, then select Microphone, Camera, or Screen Recording and enable Zoom. Screen Recording is generally needed for screen sharing. Quit and reopen Zoom after changing a permission. Labels can differ slightly by macOS version.
Install Zoom on Linux
- Open the Download Center.
- Under Zoom Workplace for Linux, select your distribution and processor architecture, then choose Download.
- Open the downloaded package with your distribution’s graphical package installer.
- Complete the prompts and launch Zoom from the applications menu.
Zoom currently lists Ubuntu 20.04 or later, Mint 20 or later, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 or later, Oracle Linux 9 or later, CentOS 9 or later, Fedora 32 or later, OpenSUSE 16 or later, Debian 11 or later, and 64-bit Arch Linux among supported systems. Package formats and administrator prompts vary, so there is no single installation command that is correct for every distribution. Zoom also requires a processor or graphics card supporting OpenGL 2.0 or higher. Check the current requirements before installing.

Install Zoom on Android
- Open Google Play.
- Search for Zoom Workplace.
- Confirm that the publisher is Zoom Communications, Inc. (or the official Zoom publisher shown in the store).
- Tap Install, then Open.
- Sign in, create an account, or select Join and enter the meeting details.
Use the official mobile links from Zoom’s product page; avoid third-party APK download sites.
Install Zoom on an iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and search for Zoom Workplace.
- Verify that it is the official Zoom app, then tap Get.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password if prompted.
- Open the app and allow camera or microphone access when you intend to use those features.
Do not download an iOS installer from a website; iPhone and iPad apps should come through the App Store.

Can I use Zoom without installing it?
Yes. The Zoom Web App can let you join and participate in a supported browser when the host permits browser attendance. Zoom currently lists minimum browser versions including Chrome 102+, Edge 102+, Firefox 105+, and Safari 16.4+; these requirements can change. The browser experience may have fewer features than the desktop app, and a host or administrator can disable it. See Zoom Web App requirements.
Choose the browser option when
- You are joining a one-time meeting.
- A school or employer blocks software installation.
- You lack administrator access or want to avoid installing an app.
What to do after installation
Join a meeting
- Open Zoom Workplace and select Join.
- Enter the meeting ID and your name.
- Enter the passcode if requested.
- Choose whether to connect audio and video, then check that the correct microphone and speaker are selected.
An account is often unnecessary for joining, but the host’s settings and meeting type can require authentication.

Host or schedule a meeting
Select Sign In and create or use a Zoom account, then choose New Meeting or the scheduling option. Hosting, scheduling, and account-management features require sign-in.

Test your equipment
Open Zoom’s audio and video settings before your first call. Approve microphone and camera access only if you plan to use them.

Update instead of reinstalling
If Zoom already opens, sign in, select your profile picture, and choose Check for Updates. A managed MSI installation may hide this control. Zoom’s release cadence and minimum versions change, so use the update instructions and version policy.

Do I need a paid Zoom plan?
No. Installing Zoom and joining another person’s meeting do not require buying a plan. Zoom Workplace Basic is free, while Pro, Business, Enterprise, add-ons, and administrator features are paid or custom offerings. The current Zoom Workplace plans page lists Basic meeting limits and current paid options; prices and limits can vary by billing cycle, geography, taxes, promotions, user count, and add-ons. A paid plan is usually unnecessary if you only attend meetings hosted by someone else.
