The Honor Play 60 Plus launched in China on June 24, 2024, with a 6.77-inch 120Hz LCD, a 6,000mAh typical-capacity battery and an IP64 rating. Its launch prices were CNY 1,499 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and CNY 1,699 for 12GB/512GB. The headline features come with clear trade-offs: the screen is HD+ rather than Full HD+, the cameras are basic on paper, and the China launch does not establish U.S. or global availability.
Price and availability
Honor announced the Play 60 Plus for China, with its launch promotion beginning at 10:08 a.m. on June 24, 2024, according to the company’s China launch notice. At launch, the 12GB/256GB configuration cost CNY 1,499, while the 12GB/512GB model cost CNY 1,699, as reported by Gadgets 360.
Those are original China launch prices, not confirmed current prices. Honor’s product and sales pages are for China; the sources available for this launch do not establish an official U.S. release or local U.S. warranty support. Buyers considering an import should verify the exact model, seller, software and services, supported network bands, return terms and repair coverage rather than assuming they match a locally sold phone.

The Play 60 Plus has a 6.77-inch LCD with a resolution of 1,610 × 720 pixels. Its 120Hz refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother than on a 60Hz screen. But refresh rate is only one part of display quality: HD+ is a modest resolution for a screen this large, so text and fine details will look less sharp than on a Full HD+ panel.

Launch coverage reports peak brightness of up to 850 nits, a figure attributed to Gadgets 360. The available evidence does not establish that the 120Hz rate is adaptive, nor that every app or game will run at 120Hz. Actual refresh behavior can depend on the app, settings, power use and temperature. A high refresh-rate display also does not guarantee high gaming frame rates.
6,000mAh battery and 35W charging
The battery is rated at 6,000mAh typical capacity; Honor lists its rated capacity as 5,900mAh on the official product page. That distinction explains why the two figures may appear in different specifications. Wired charging is rated at 35W.

Honor advertises laboratory figures including up to 24 hours of online video, 19 hours of short-video playback, 62 hours of music playback and 11 hours of video calls. These are manufacturer test claims, not independent test results or a guarantee of a particular number of days per charge. Screen brightness, refresh settings, mobile reception, gaming, background apps and temperature all affect real-world endurance. The battery’s large capacity is a strong reason to consider the phone if runtime matters more than a sharper screen or stronger camera system; 35W charging is a specification, not evidence of unusually fast charging.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and memory options
The phone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform, an entry-level 5G-capable chipset. Launch reports also list an Adreno 613 GPU and UFS 3.1 storage. Configurations pair 12GB of physical RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

Honor also promotes up to 8GB of virtual RAM, describing an expanded total of up to 20GB. That does not mean the phone has 20GB of physical memory: virtual expansion uses storage as additional memory and is much slower than hardware RAM. It may help keep some apps available in memory, but should not be treated as an equivalent performance upgrade. Although the chipset supports 5G, imported-phone buyers need to check the specific device’s bands against their carrier.
What IP64 means—and what it does not
Honor lists the Play 60 Plus as IP64-rated for dust and water resistance. Treat that as protection against specified ingress conditions, not as waterproofing: it does not establish that the phone is safe to submerge, swim with, use for underwater photography or expose to high-pressure spray. Honor also promotes a three-minute washing test, but that marketing claim should not be read as permission for immersion or routine washing.

The company separately cites SGS Gold Label certification for drop and squeeze resistance. That is distinct from the IP64 ingress rating, and it does not make the phone indestructible; Honor warns that drops or impacts can still damage it. Follow the manual’s guidance on liquid exposure and wet charging, and take particular care around ports, chemicals and salt water.

The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP main camera and a 2MP secondary camera; the front camera is 5MP, according to launch coverage. Megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality, and the listed hardware is not a reason to expect strong low-light photography, stabilization or flagship-level video.

Other reported features include stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, USB-C, dual-SIM support and 5G. At launch, the software was Android 14 with MagicOS 8.0. These are launch specifications; they do not confirm the phone’s current software version or the services and language options on every imported unit.
Who might want the Play 60 Plus?
It is most compelling for China-market buyers who value a large battery, plentiful storage, a smooth-feeling display, a headphone jack and added dust and water resistance. Its large screen and stereo speakers may also suit people who mainly watch video or make calls.
Look elsewhere if you want an OLED or sharper Full HD+ screen, demanding gaming performance, a capable selfie camera or photography features backed by independent testing. For buyers outside China, compatibility and after-sales support may outweigh the launch-price appeal. Before importing, confirm the exact model’s carrier bands, Google-service and app compatibility, charger configuration, warranty terms and repair options; none should be inferred from the China listing.
