To get Gyazo embed code, open the capture page for your screenshot, GIF, or video, open the Share menu at the top, and copy the offered HTML embed code. Gyazo also provides Markdown. Paste the generated code into a destination that accepts HTML; do not rely on a universal snippet because the exact markup is generated for your individual capture.
A plain Gyazo URL may also render through oEmbed or a platform’s link-preview support, but this varies by destination. Gyazo specifically notes that WordPress requires some coding. The steps below cover each format, privacy checks, platform limitations, and a browser-free alternative for generating fresh website screenshots.
How to get Gyazo embed code
- Capture or upload the screenshot, GIF, or video with Gyazo.
- Open the capture’s generated page.
- At the top of that page, open Share.
- Choose HTML embed code, then copy the generated markup.
- Paste it into the HTML editor, CMS block, documentation system, or other field that accepts embeds.
- Publish or preview the page and confirm that the audience can access the Gyazo capture page.
Gyazo documents this workflow for still images in its sharing help. The service generates code for the specific capture, so copying the code from your own Share menu is safer than using a generic example found elsewhere.

Open the image capture page and choose the HTML option in Share. The generated embed normally points readers to the capture page as well as displaying the image, but the exact HTML is controlled by Gyazo. Keep the complete generated block unless you deliberately understand which attributes your destination permits.
#1 Best Overall
For a GIF
A GIF is handled through the same capture-page Share menu as a still screenshot. Copy the HTML embed code, paste it into an HTML-capable field, and preview it. If the destination strips HTML, use its supported Markdown or link-preview workflow instead.
For a Gyazo Video recording
Open the Gyazo Video page for the recording and use its Share menu to obtain an embed code or download options. Gyazo’s video help covers screen video with sound and HD quality, as well as screen GIFs. Pro or Teams users can trim video according to that help page.
Choose the right embedding method
| Method | When to use it | What you need to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Gyazo HTML embed code | Your site or editor accepts arbitrary HTML. | Whether scripts, images, links, or other markup are filtered; whether viewers can reach the capture page. |
| Markdown | Your documentation, repository, or editor supports Markdown. | How that platform converts Markdown and whether it permits external images or links. |
| Plain Gyazo URL | The destination supports Gyazo previews or oEmbed. | Preview support is destination-specific; the resulting layout is not guaranteed. |
Gyazo says its oEmbed API can make embedding faster on supported sites. Its API guidance mentions WordPress and GitHub, but also warns that WordPress needs some coding. See Gyazo APIs for the service’s current explanation. If a pasted URL remains a plain link, switch to the generated HTML or follow that platform’s integration instructions.

Paste the code safely into common destinations
Custom website
- Open the page template or CMS block’s source/HTML view.
- Paste the complete Gyazo-generated block where the media should appear.
- Save, publish, and test in a logged-out or private browser window.
A private-window test matters because a capture link grants access to its page. Someone who can see your post may therefore be able to open the Gyazo page even if the image is displayed inside your site.
WordPress
Do not assume that dropping a Gyazo URL into a paragraph will create an embed. Gyazo explicitly notes that WordPress requires some coding. Use a Custom HTML block or your theme’s permitted embed mechanism, paste the generated code, and preview it. If your security or hosting policy strips the markup, ask an administrator to allow the required external image/link pattern rather than pasting untrusted code into a broad site-wide template.
GitHub and documentation tools
GitHub and other documentation systems may recognize Gyazo links through previews or Markdown. Where preview support is unavailable, use the Markdown supplied by Gyazo or an HTML-capable page. Check the rendered result because each platform applies its own sanitization and sizing rules.
Privacy and access checks before publishing
Gyazo’s sharing guidance says anyone with a shared link can access the capture page. Treat the URL as a permission boundary: only embed captures that the readers of the containing page are allowed to view.
Recommended Free Tools
Gyazo states that capture metadata is private by default. If you make metadata public, link viewers may see saved details and your profile name. The service’s privacy help also says your IP address is not visible to other people. Review the capture’s visibility and metadata settings before copying its code, especially for internal dashboards, customer data, bug reports, or recordings that show account details. See Gyazo’s privacy explanation.
Know which Gyazo tool created the media
The browser extension’s page-capture functions produce still images. Gyazo says that Gyazo Video and Replay are not supported in that extension; use the dedicated video or replay workflow when you need moving media. The distinction matters because a still-image capture page will not provide the same video controls or embed behavior as a Gyazo Video page. Details are in the desktop capture help and browser extension help.

If your real goal is to create a clean screenshot of a web page for a post, report, test, or documentation site, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: it removes cookie-consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has the lowest paid plan listed here.
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Failed loads, blank pages, bot checks/CAPTCHAs, timeouts, and cache hits cost nothing, and each response reports the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Troubleshooting Gyazo embeds
The Share menu has no HTML option
Confirm that you are on the capture’s own page, not a thumbnail, search result, or a platform preview. Open Share at the top of the capture page. For video, use the Gyazo Video page rather than a still-image page.
The pasted URL stays as plain text
Your destination may not support Gyazo oEmbed or link previews. Use the generated HTML or Markdown instead, or consult the destination’s embed documentation. WordPress commonly needs a Custom HTML block and additional coding.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The embed is blank or missing after publishing
The editor may sanitize external markup. Inspect the saved source, try the platform’s HTML/code block, and test while logged out. Also verify that the Gyazo URL still opens directly and that network or content-security policies are not blocking the external resource.
Readers see an access or unavailable page
Open the capture URL in a private window and check its visibility. Because a shared link grants access to the capture page, restricted or removed captures cannot render for readers who lack permission.
The video does not behave like an image
Make sure you copied the embed from a Gyazo Video page. The browser extension is for still captures and does not support Gyazo Video or Replay. If you need trimming, Gyazo documents that capability for Pro or Teams users.
The image or video size looks wrong
Rendering and responsive behavior depend on the destination; Gyazo’s reviewed help does not promise one universal layout. Use the destination’s permitted width or container styles around the generated block, then verify desktop and mobile previews without editing away required links or attributes.

Practical publishing checklist
- Use the capture page’s Share menu and copy the current generated code.
- Choose HTML, Markdown, or a plain URL according to the destination’s actual support.
- Test the published result in a logged-out/private window.
- Confirm that every viewer is allowed to open the linked capture page.
- Check whether public metadata exposes saved details or your profile name.
- Use Gyazo Video for moving recordings; the browser extension alone is for still images.
- Preview the result on the screen sizes your audience uses and verify that the destination has not stripped the markup.
