Verdict: The GUNNAR Fallout Vault 33 glasses make the most sense as Fallout fan gear with practical screen-wear features—not as a proven treatment for digital eye strain. The distinctive gunmetal-and-olive frame, side shields and 20-gram listed weight are appealing, but the standard amber lens noticeably warms colors. GUNNAR lists the U.S. computer-glasses version at $99; its official page currently shows it as sold out, so check availability before buying.
What are the Vault 33 glasses?
The Fallout Vault 33 Gaming Glasses are an officially licensed Amazon Studios Fallout design from GUNNAR Optiks. They are computer glasses, not a screen-accurate replica or safety eyewear. The retro-futuristic square frame combines a stainless-steel-and-nylon front, olive metal temples and built-in side shields. GUNNAR lists a collector case, microfiber pouch, cleaning cloth and a 12-month warranty with the product. GUNNAR’s product page is the place to confirm the current configuration and terms.
The style is more distinctive than a neutral everyday frame, but the gunmetal and olive colorway keeps the Fallout reference wearable rather than costume-like. The side shields make the design recognizable and may limit stray light from the sides. They are not certified protective shields.

Regional GUNNAR pages list frame width as 139 mm rather than the U.S. page’s 136 mm. If fit is close, confirm measurements with the seller rather than assuming the figures are interchangeable.

Lens choice is the biggest everyday decision
The listed computer-glasses options include Amber, Clear, Clear Pro and Amber Max. GUNNAR publishes blue-light-blocking figures at 450 nm of 65% for Amber, 35% for Clear, 20% for Clear Pro and 98% for Amber Max. Those are manufacturer lens specifications—not evidence that a lens prevents eye damage or reliably relieves symptoms.

With Amber, white webpages and menus can look warmer or yellow-orange; game colors, skin tones and color-coded interfaces also shift. That may be tolerable for general gaming or reading, but it is a poor match for photo editing, video grading or any work where accurate colors matter. If you want to judge color normally, choose a clear option if available in the configuration you intend to buy.
GUNNAR also offers Neutral Focus and GUNNAR-Focus +0.20 options. The +0.20 is a small near-focus boost, not a substitute for a prescription or eye examination. It will not correct common refractive errors, and a power that feels helpful to one person may feel distracting to another. If you already wear prescription lenses or are unsure about your near vision, ask an optician before choosing.

Gaming, comfort and fit
At a listed 20 g, the frame starts from a favorable weight for long wear, and its anti-reflective coating may help with reflections from screens or room lights. Side shields may also reduce light entering from the periphery. Those features do not establish that the glasses will suit every face or gaming setup.
The published dimensions—52 mm lenses, a 22 mm bridge, 136 mm U.S. frame width and 145 mm temples—are useful for comparing them with glasses you already own. They are not a guarantee of fit. Pay attention to pressure at the temples and bridge, whether the side shields touch your face, and whether the frame feels stable when you look down. The frame is not promoted as a headset-compatible design, and there is no basis to promise that it will sit comfortably under every over-ear headset. If possible, try it with your own headphones before committing, especially for multi-hour sessions.
GUNNAR lists G-Shield Plus as anti-reflective and smudge-resistant and describes the lenses as impact-resistant. The company also lists 100% UV blocking for the computer-glasses product. That UV specification is chiefly relevant outdoors; do not confuse the computer model with the separately sold Vault 33 sunglasses.

Do they actually reduce digital eye strain?
GUNNAR markets its lenses as helping reduce or prevent digital eye strain. An individual may find a warmer image, fewer distracting reflections or less stray light more comfortable. An independent Android Central review described the glasses as attractive and reported a noticeable difference during extended gaming, while noting the warm tint and its effect on color. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a controlled test.

The filtering percentages do not show that blue-light lenses prevent eye damage or resolve computer-related symptoms. The American Academy of Ophthalmology’s guidance, summarized in EyeWiki’s overview of computer vision syndrome, says evidence does not show that computer-screen light damages the eyes and does not generally recommend special eyewear solely for computer use. It also notes a randomized trial that found no improvement in computer-vision-syndrome outcomes from blue-blocking lenses.
Digital discomfort can have several causes, including dry eyes from reduced blinking, glare, prolonged close focus, poor lighting or an uncorrected prescription. Adjust screen brightness and room lighting, take regular breaks, blink consciously and keep a comfortable viewing distance. If symptoms persist, an eye-care professional can help identify the cause. These glasses may suit someone who likes their tint and fit, but they are not essential protection from screens.

GUNNAR’s product page displays prescription as an option, but the current listing says prescription purchases are final sale with no returns or exchanges and gives an estimated two-to-three-week manufacturing and shipping timeline. Commercial terms can change, so read the live checkout and product details before purchase.

- Confirm that the frame and lens configuration support your prescription range.
- Check pupillary-distance requirements and enter measurements carefully.
- Verify the tint and focus choice; do not assume a computer lens replaces your prescribed correction.
- Ask an optician about compatibility if you have a complex prescription or concerns about the side shields or lens geometry.
- Do not order until you are comfortable with the no-return policy stated for prescription purchases.
Price, stock and alternatives
At $99, the Vault 33 charges for the licensed design, collectible accessories and GUNNAR lens features. That may be worthwhile to a fan who wants this particular frame. If Fallout branding is not important, GUNNAR lists other frames at lower prices, including standard models around $49.99–$84.99 and Clix at $74 on its glasses collection page. Those are not guaranteed fit or optical substitutes; compare frame dimensions, lens choices and current stock.

If Vault 33 is unavailable, GUNNAR lists other Fallout styles, including Brotherhood of Steel and Lucky 38. Their availability and exact lens configurations should be checked separately. Buyers prioritizing prescription eyewear and a less overtly gaming-oriented look can also review Warby Parker’s blue-light and anti-fatigue lens options; pricing and terms vary, and those products are not Fallout collectibles.
The official Vault 33 page currently showing sold out makes reseller listings a riskier proposition: verify condition, authenticity, return rights and warranty coverage rather than assuming a marketplace offer is authorized or covered by GUNNAR.
Who should buy them?
- Buy or wait for restock: You are a Fallout fan, like the square retro-futurist look, want the collector accessories and are comfortable with an amber tint.
- Consider a clear lens or another frame: You want screen eyewear but need colors to look more natural, or you are unsure whether the side shields and frame dimensions suit you.
- Skip: You are buying solely to prevent screen-related eye damage, need accurate color reproduction, cannot tolerate a warm cast, or require easy returns on prescription glasses.
The current GUNNAR product page lists a 12-month warranty, while an older launch announcement described 24 months. Treat the current page’s 12-month term as the operative listing unless GUNNAR confirms otherwise.
