Pixel Watch 3 connectivity problems can come from three separate links: Bluetooth between the watch and a nearby phone, Wi-Fi internet access, or LTE service on the cellular model. Start with the symptom rather than resetting the watch: check power, Airplane Mode, phone internet and app permissions, then restart both devices. Save a factory reset for last—especially on an LTE watch, where carrier reactivation may be needed.

First, identify which connection is failing

A Bluetooth connection shown in Android settings does not necessarily mean setup has finished in the Google Pixel Watch app. Likewise, a watch that works beside the phone but not farther away may have a Wi-Fi or LTE issue rather than a Bluetooth fault.

What you see Likely area to check
The watch is not found during setup Bluetooth, permissions, outdated software, distance, or stale pairing records
Android says Bluetooth is connected, but setup in the Pixel Watch app fails Incomplete app pairing, a stale Bluetooth record, app or system software, or less commonly a hardware problem
The watch disconnects while the phone is nearby Bluetooth state or interference, app or phone software, power restrictions, or a radio fault
It works near the phone but not when you leave it behind Available Wi-Fi, LTE activation and coverage, or the limits of the watch model
The Pixel Watch app shows “Network error” Check whether the phone itself has Wi-Fi or mobile-data access before changing watch settings
The LTE watch has no mobile service Carrier and plan eligibility, eSIM provisioning, cellular settings, or signal
It fails on hotel, airport, or café Wi-Fi The network may require a captive-portal webpage sign-in, which the watch cannot complete
The watch cannot see or join a Wi-Fi network Check the password and network settings; Google says Pixel Watch cannot connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi
The watch freezes or stays on the Google “G” logo Try a forced restart; if it remains unusable, follow Google’s recovery guidance or contact support

Google’s connectivity troubleshooting guide and pairing guidance treat Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE, setup, and resets as distinct cases. A failed pairing attempt alone does not establish a known widespread defect.

Try these low-risk checks first

  1. Charge the watch if its battery is low, and keep it next to the phone.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is on and Airplane Mode is off on both devices.
  3. Confirm that the phone has working Wi-Fi or mobile data. Location may also need to be enabled for setup, depending on the phone and Android version.
  4. Check that the Pixel Watch app has the permissions it requests, including nearby-device access where shown. Labels and settings paths vary by Android version and phone maker.
  5. Close and reopen the Pixel Watch app, then retry the task.
  6. Change one setting at a time and test. That makes it easier to tell what resolved the problem.

For Fast Pair, Google advises keeping the phone within about 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) of the watch. Check for updates to the Pixel Watch app, phone software, watch firmware, and relevant Google system components. Updates can arrive in stages; a delay, including a difference between LTE and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth models, is not by itself evidence of a defect.

Restart the phone and watch

A normal restart preserves watch data and is a sensible early step for intermittent pairing or syncing problems.

  1. On the watch, press and hold the crown for about three seconds.
  2. Scroll to Restart and tap it.
  3. Wait for the watch to finish booting, restart the phone, bring the devices close together, and test again.

If the screen is unresponsive, Google describes a forced restart: hold the crown and side button for approximately 35 seconds, or until the Google logo appears. This is not a factory reset and should not erase watch data. See Google’s restart and recovery instructions for the current guidance.

Fix Bluetooth pairing and stale records

If the watch appears in phone Bluetooth settings but the Pixel Watch app cannot complete setup, remove the stale pairing and begin again through the app:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the phone’s Bluetooth or Connected devices settings and forget or remove old Pixel Watch entries.
  2. Restart the phone and watch.
  3. Open the Google Pixel Watch app and start pairing there; do not rely on pairing only from Android Bluetooth settings.
  4. Keep the devices within about 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) while Fast Pair runs, and follow the prompts on both screens.

Google recommends forgetting old watch entries, restarting the phone, and retrying setup with the devices close together when pairing fails. Avoid repeatedly factory-resetting or clearing broad Google Play services data as an initial fix: those steps can complicate setup without establishing whether the original issue was permissions, stale pairing state, or connectivity.

Troubleshoot Wi-Fi on the watch

Wi-Fi can provide network access when the watch is not using Bluetooth, but it does not replace every phone-dependent function. To inspect the watch’s Wi-Fi settings:

  1. Swipe down from the watch face.
  2. Tap Settings, then Connectivity, then Wi-Fi.
  3. Turn Wi-Fi on, choose a listed network, and enter its password. If offered, use Add network for a network that is not listed.

Google says the watch can automatically connect to saved networks. It also documents two important limitations: Pixel Watch cannot connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi and cannot complete captive-portal sign-ins that require opening a webpage. A compatible 2.4 GHz network may work where a 5 GHz network does not. Hotels, airports, schools, gyms, and cafés often use portal sign-ins, so try a different network rather than repeatedly entering settings on the watch.

If a suitable network still fails, recheck the password and router settings. Hidden networks, enterprise authentication, MAC filtering, and unusual security configurations are possible network-side causes, not confirmed Pixel Watch 3 defects. For an app “Network error,” first verify the phone’s own internet connection, as Google’s troubleshooting page advises.

Troubleshoot LTE and eSIM

These checks apply only to the 4G LTE model. LTE service away from the phone requires a supported, active carrier arrangement, a provisioned eSIM, and adequate coverage. The precise eligibility and activation path depend on the carrier, account, plan, model, and region; confirm them with your carrier rather than assuming every US plan supports the watch.

  1. On the watch, swipe down and tap Settings > Connectivity > Mobile > SIM status. Inspect the cellular state and signal information.
  2. Confirm that you have the LTE model, the watch’s plan is active, and your carrier supports that model and activation method.
  3. Check whether the carrier requires the phone and watch to use the same carrier for your activation method. Ask the carrier to verify eSIM provisioning if the profile is missing, inactive, or only partly activated.
  4. Test in an area with usable coverage and ensure the phone has internet access if activation requires it.

Google says an LTE watch that is away from its phone for an extended period can switch from Bluetooth to the carrier network; service then depends on carrier signal strength. If the eSIM was deleted or is inactive, Google’s instructions direct users to Settings > Connectivity > Mobile > Advanced and to follow the prompts to add the eSIM again. Some carriers may require a call or manual reactivation. See Google’s LTE and eSIM troubleshooting guidance.

Before a factory reset on an LTE watch: record the carrier and account details, save any activation email or promotional link, and note the watch IMEI if accessible. A reset can mean repeating carrier provisioning. For US plan details, check the current terms with your carrier; for example, Google Fi’s Pixel Watch 3 page describes its smartwatch connectivity, while Verizon’s prepaid smartwatch page describes a separate service option. Eligibility and prices can change, so verify them before enrolling.

Factory reset only after other fixes fail

A factory reset erases apps, settings, and data on the watch. It may help with persistent pairing or setup failures, but it is not a guaranteed fix and can add LTE reactivation work. Google also warns that re-pairing may require the most recent PIN or Google Account credentials as an anti-theft measure. Preserve account access and LTE activation information before proceeding.

Reset from the watch: Swipe down, tap Settings > Disconnect & reset, then confirm with OK.

Reset from the phone: Open the Google Pixel Watch app, tap System > Reset and unpair watch.

After a reset, restart the phone, remove old Bluetooth entries, update or reinstall the Pixel Watch app if needed, and pair again from that app. Test the connection before restoring other settings or troubleshooting several things at once. Google’s reset guidance includes the current steps and account warning.

Fastboot or recovery reset: a last resort

Use recovery only if ordinary troubleshooting has failed and the watch cannot be reset normally. It wipes data. If the watch may be covered by a return period or warranty, consider contacting Google first. Google’s documented recovery route is:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Hold the crown and side button for about 20 seconds until the Google logo appears.
  2. Tap the upper-left and lower-right edges of the screen together to enter Fastboot.
  3. Use the side button to highlight Recovery Mode, then press the crown.
  4. At No Command, hold the crown and swipe up together.
  5. Highlight Wipe Data or Factory Reset and swipe right to confirm.
  6. When wiping finishes, select Reboot system now.

Follow Google’s official recovery instructions if the on-screen sequence differs; do not improvise with other Fastboot options.

When to contact Google or your carrier

  • Contact the carrier when the LTE model has no service after checking signal and settings, the eSIM will not activate, or the account’s watch-plan eligibility is unclear.
  • Contact Google when pairing repeatedly fails with more than one compatible phone, the watch cannot maintain any radio connection after a clean reset, it repeatedly reboots, or physical damage is present.
  • Seek support before another reset if the watch is frozen, recovery fails, or you may be within a return or warranty period.

None of these symptoms alone proves hardware failure. Permissions, stale records, phone software, network compatibility, and carrier provisioning can look similar. Google support can determine whether service, repair, replacement, or another step is appropriate; a replacement is not guaranteed.

Should you use LTE or Wi-Fi/Bluetooth?

The US Pixel Watch 3 product page distinguishes Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version is generally the simpler choice if the phone is usually nearby and a compatible Wi-Fi network is available. LTE is useful when you want the watch to have cellular connectivity away from the phone, but it adds carrier, plan, coverage, and eSIM steps. Some carriers include smartwatch connectivity with eligible service; others require a separate plan. Compare your current carrier’s terms and local coverage before choosing.

Google’s announced US launch prices in 2024 were $349.99 for 41mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, $449.99 for 41mm LTE, $399.99 for 45mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, and $499.99 for 45mm LTE. These are historical launch prices, not a statement of current 2026 pricing; check the retailer for today’s price. If your current watch is failing, troubleshoot it and check support or warranty options before buying another one.
