Verdict: The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is a capable mainstream Blackwell GPU for 1440p gaming, AI inference, 3D rendering and video workflows—but the 16GB version is the sensible creator choice. The $429 figure associated with this review was the 16GB model’s April 2025 launch MSRP, not a guaranteed current price. At today’s price, the card makes sense only if it remains competitive with faster alternatives.
This article focuses on the AI, 3D-rendering and video results from HotHardware’s second review page. It is one section of a larger review, not an independent universal ranking of every RTX 5060 Ti board or application.
Quick verdict
| User | Verdict |
|---|---|
| 1080p gamer | Good, particularly near launch MSRP |
| 1440p gamer | Good with sensible settings and DLSS |
| 4K gamer | Not the ideal target |
| Blender user | Strong NVIDIA acceleration; choose 16GB |
| V-Ray user | Attractive when using the RTX engine |
| Local AI user | Choose 16GB and verify model compatibility |
| Video creator | Strong codec hardware; application support still matters |
| Small-form-factor builder | Potentially suitable, but check the exact board dimensions |
The RTX 5060 Ti is strongest when CUDA, OptiX, Tensor acceleration, NVENC, DLSS or NVIDIA Studio support is part of the workflow. It is less compelling when a similarly priced Radeon or Intel card delivers substantially more native raster performance or VRAM and the software does not depend on NVIDIA-specific acceleration.
What is being tested?
HotHardware published this review section on April 16, 2025. It tested the MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio 16GB and PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Because these are add-in-board products, their clocks, coolers, power limits, dimensions, connectors and acoustics are not universal RTX 5060 Ti specifications.

The card supports DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation, while NVIDIA’s current product page also presents newer DLSS branding and features. Those current platform features should not be confused with features specifically measured in the April 2025 review. NVIDIA’s official specification page lists the current hardware details.
Test system and methodology
The review used a high-end test platform:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- MSI X870E Carbon WiFi motherboard
- 32GB DDR5-6000 memory
- Windows 11 Pro 24H2
- NVIDIA drivers 572.50 and 575.94
- AMD Radeon driver 24.12.1
- Resizable BAR enabled
- EXPO memory profile enabled
Benchmark software included MLPerf Client, Geekbench AI, UL Procyon AI, Blender 4.3, Blackmagic RAW Speed Test 4.3.1, V-Ray, 3DMark, VRMark, Unigine Superposition and games.
This matters when interpreting the results. A Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 32GB of memory reduce platform bottlenecks compared with a budget PC. Results can change with the CPU, system memory, drivers, Resizable BAR state, application version and acceleration backend. The drivers are also historical launch-era software, not evidence of August 2026 performance.
AI performance: capable, but backend and VRAM decide the result
MLPerf Client
In HotHardware’s MLPerf Client testing, the RTX 5060 Ti generally landed between RTX 3070 Ti-class hardware and the RTX 4070 for time-to-first-token. Sustained token generation was closer to RTX 3070 Ti performance and below the RTX 4070, while the 5060 Ti clearly improved on the RTX 4060 Ti.
These two measurements describe different experiences. Time to first token reflects startup responsiveness: model loading, initialization and the first response. Token-generation speed reflects sustained output after the model is running. A card can feel responsive at startup without matching a faster GPU during a long response.
Model size, quantization, precision, runtime, memory bandwidth and VRAM capacity all affect local-LLM results. The benchmark should therefore be treated as a workload-specific comparison rather than a universal AI ranking.
Geekbench AI
The RTX 5060 Ti’s Geekbench AI results were mixed. It exceeded the RTX 4070 in one half-precision test, but trailed it in single-precision and quantized tests. It was ahead of the RTX 4060 Ti and the tested Radeon RX 7000-series configurations.
Rank #2
- Dual-Fan Cooling in a Compact Design - Two fans work together to distribute and dissipate heat efficiently across a compact design, delivering the thermal headroom to sustain boost clocks without demanding a full-length card slot.
- Masterfully Crafted Cooling - A dense heatsink pulls heat away from the GPU while a vented metal backplate adds passive cooling and reinforces the card against sagging, resulting in lower temperatures for stronger performance and stability in demanding workloads.
- Overclocked Out of the Box - A factory-tuned 2692 MHz boost clock delivers extra performance over reference specifications with no setup required, plus headroom to push further with VelocityX.
- VelocityX Software - Gain full control over your PNY graphics card to maximize its performance. Fine-tune core and memory clocks, dial in custom fan curves, and monitor real-time temperatures and speeds, all from one intuitive interface. Save up to five profiles for instant recall.
- NVIDIA Blackwell Architecture - The Ultimate Platform for Gamers and Creators. Do it all with 5th-Gen Tensor Cores for max AI performance, new streaming multiprocessors that are optimized for neural shaders, and 4th-Gen Ray Tracing Cores built for Mega Geometry.
The important lesson is not that the RTX 5060 Ti is faster than the RTX 4070. It is that AI performance varies sharply by precision and software path. One favorable subtest cannot replace application-specific testing.
UL Procyon AI Text Generation
HotHardware used ONNX with DirectML for the text-generation tests rather than TensorRT. The RTX 5060 Ti typically sat just behind the RTX 4070 and RTX 5070 while remaining clearly ahead of the RTX 4060 Ti.
Some comparison cards failed the final Llama 2 test because they did not have enough memory. That is not merely a speed result: it demonstrates a capacity limit. A GPU may have sufficient compute performance but still fail to run a model when its weights, runtime overhead and working data exceed available VRAM.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

The Stable Diffusion XL test also used ONNX because the TensorRT engine had not yet been updated for Blackwell at the time of testing. The RTX 5060 Ti outperformed its predecessor and came just behind the RTX 4070 in the tested configuration.
Image-generation performance has several separate dimensions:
- Throughput: images or iterations generated per unit of time.
- Latency: how long one image takes.
- Model-loading capacity: whether the model fits at all.
- Resolution and batch size: how far the workload can scale before memory pressure causes errors or offloading.
- Backend support: whether the application uses CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX, DirectML or another path.
A good benchmark score does not guarantee that every model or workflow will fit in 8GB. For experimentation, higher resolutions, larger models or multitasking, the 16GB card is considerably safer.
Blender and 3D rendering
Blender 4.3
Using Blender 4.3’s default benchmark scenes, HotHardware placed the RTX 5060 Ti around the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, ahead of the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 7700 XT in that test, and ahead of the RTX 3070 and RTX 4060 Ti. The RTX 4070 remained faster.
This result is useful, but it is not a statement about every Blender project. Performance changes with the renderer and scene. Cycles can use CUDA or OptiX on NVIDIA hardware, while other configurations use different paths; Eevee, viewport work, denoising and plug-ins can produce different rankings.

- Integrated with 8GB GDDR7 128bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
For complex scenes, VRAM can matter more than raw shader throughput. Textures, geometry, caches and effects must fit alongside the renderer’s working data. A 16GB RTX 5060 Ti offers more practical headroom than an 8GB model, even when both have similar compute hardware.
V-Ray
The V-Ray test used V-Ray’s RTX engine. That engine relies on NVIDIA RTX hardware, so Radeon cards were excluded from the comparison. HotHardware placed the RTX 5060 Ti cards around the RTX 4070-class results, with RTX 5070 and faster GPUs ahead.
This makes the result relevant to a V-Ray user who has already chosen NVIDIA’s RTX path. It is not a neutral AMD-versus-NVIDIA rendering comparison. Before buying, confirm the renderer, plug-ins and GPU engine used by the exact project.

Video production and codec workloads
Blackmagic RAW Speed Test evaluated 4K and 8K decoding at different compression levels. The RTX 5060 Ti was just behind the RTX 4070 and RTX 5070, while substantially ahead of the RTX 4060 Ti and the tested Radeon cards.
NVIDIA specifies one ninth-generation NVENC encoder and one sixth-generation NVDEC decoder, with AV1 encode and decode support. That hardware can be valuable for recording, streaming, timeline playback and supported export paths in applications such as DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and OBS.
RAW decoding is not the same as final export speed. Export performance also depends on the codec, effects, CPU, storage, application version, plug-ins and whether the software uses the encoder or decoder efficiently. One decoder may also become relevant in multi-stream or multi-camera workflows.
The 16GB model is preferable for effects-heavy timelines, high-resolution assets, AI-assisted editing, large compositions and multitasking. It does not automatically make every export faster, but it reduces the chance that VRAM becomes the limiting resource.

Both versions use GDDR7 and a 128-bit memory interface, but capacity is either 8GB or 16GB. Memory capacity and memory bandwidth are different specifications: the 448GB/s bandwidth does not prevent a workload from failing when it needs more than the available VRAM.

- High-resolution video timelines and effects
- Blender scenes with large geometry or texture sets
- Local language models and image-generation models
- Multiple applications running simultaneously
- Longer ownership periods as software requirements grow
The 8GB model can still be adequate for a buyer focused on 1080p gaming, optimized 1440p settings and known workloads that remain below 8GB. It becomes harder to justify for a creator or local-AI system, particularly if the price gap is modest.
Do not pay an unlimited premium for 16GB. If a 16GB partner card is priced close to a substantially faster RTX 5070-class product, moving up may provide better overall performance. The right comparison is the 16GB card’s actual price against the next meaningful performance tier—not simply the difference between the two 5060 Ti capacities.
Gaming context: DLSS is useful, but not equivalent to native performance
The full review positions the RTX 5060 Ti as a mainstream 1440p gaming card. DLSS can improve output performance through upscaling, and Frame Generation or Multi Frame Generation can add displayed frames. However, generated frames do not replace the base frames rendered by the GPU.
When comparing cards, separate:
- Native rasterization performance
- Ray-traced performance
- DLSS Super Resolution results
- Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation results
Latency, image quality, game support and artifacting matter alongside the FPS counter. DLSS can make the RTX 5060 Ti feel more capable in supported games, but it does not turn the card into a faster native-rendering or higher-VRAM GPU. It is not the ideal choice for dependable 4K gaming or heavy path tracing.

NVIDIA lists 180W total graphics power and recommends a 600W system power supply. The card can use a PCIe 8-pin cable or a 300W-or-greater PCIe Gen 5 cable with an adapter. NVIDIA lists a maximum GPU temperature of 87°C, but actual temperatures and acoustics vary by board design.
In HotHardware’s sample pair, the MSI card used a 12VHPWR adapter, while the PNY card used a conventional 8-pin connector. Both were dual-slot cards, and the PNY’s smaller design was more suitable for compatible small-form-factor systems.
Do not generalize those observations to every RTX 5060 Ti. Before buying, check:

How it compares with alternatives
RTX 4060 Ti
The RTX 5060 Ti is generally ahead of the RTX 4060 Ti in the reviewed AI, rendering and video workloads. The upgrade is most meaningful when the newer card’s extra performance, GDDR7 memory and available 16GB capacity address a real workload constraint. The generational gain is less compelling if the buyer is upgrading only for a modest raster improvement and does not use DLSS or creator acceleration.
RTX 4070 and RTX 5070-class cards
The RTX 4070 was usually faster in the reviewed creator workloads, although individual AI subtests produced mixed results. The RTX 5070 and faster GPUs also lead in heavier workloads. If a partner RTX 5060 Ti is heavily marked up, compare its price directly with these faster tiers instead of assuming that the newer generation automatically represents better value.
Radeon and Intel alternatives
Radeon and Intel cards can be attractive when the workload is primarily native rasterized gaming, open standards or general-purpose use, especially if they offer more VRAM or stronger native performance at the same price. But CUDA, OptiX, NVENC, DLSS and NVIDIA Studio integration can outweigh a hardware specification advantage in supported creator applications.

Who should buy the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB?
- Creators using CUDA, OptiX, V-Ray, Blender or NVIDIA Studio-supported software.
- Local-AI users who need more than 8GB of practical model headroom.
- 1440p gamers who want Blackwell features without moving to a higher power class.
- Buyers building a compact system around a partner card that genuinely fits.
- Anyone finding the 16GB model near the historical $429 launch MSRP and below the price of a meaningfully faster alternative.
Who should choose 8GB—or skip the card?
Choose 8GB only when the discount is substantial, the workload is known to fit, and the system is primarily a 1080p gaming machine. Skip the RTX 5060 Ti when you need dependable 4K, heavy path tracing, large AI models, complex professional scenes, multiple video streams or substantially greater compute throughput.
Also skip an overpriced partner model. The $429 figure is historical launch context from April 2025; it is not a current retail guarantee. Check the official NVIDIA buying page and current retailer listings for the price and availability you will actually receive.
Final verdict
The RTX 5060 Ti is a well-rounded mainstream creator GPU, not a universal workstation replacement. Its AI, Blender, V-Ray and video results are often strong for its class, and NVIDIA’s software ecosystem remains a significant advantage for supported applications. The 16GB model is the defensible long-term choice because capacity—not just compute speed—determines whether many AI, rendering and video workloads run comfortably.

Buy the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti when its real price is close to launch MSRP and the specific software benefits from NVIDIA acceleration. Buy the 8GB version only for a clearly cheaper, primarily 1080p-focused system. If the 16GB card approaches a faster GPU’s price, move up; if your work depends on large models, complex scenes or reliable 4K performance, start above the RTX 5060 Ti class.
