NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 430.39 WHQL is an official driver released on April 23, 2019. It is now a legacy package, so use it only for a documented compatibility, rollback, offline, or historical-reproduction requirement. For normal use, choose a newer driver from NVIDIA.

These details come from NVIDIA’s archived driver pages for the Windows 10 package and Windows 7/8/8.1 package.

What “430.39 WHQL” means
- GeForce identifies NVIDIA’s consumer graphics-driver family. It is not automatically the correct package for Quadro, Tesla, or other enterprise products.
- 430.39 is the driver version, not a graphics-card model.
- Game Ready refers to game-focused driver tuning available when the package was released.
- WHQL means the package received Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs certification. It does not mean the driver is current, bug-free, or ideal for every computer.
The installer should be downloaded from NVIDIA rather than from a driver-updater utility or an unofficial repackaged archive. If you use an archived copy, verify that the executable is digitally signed by NVIDIA before running it.
Supported Windows versions
NVIDIA published separate 64-bit packages. The archived Windows 10 page is for Windows 10 64-bit. The older-Windows page covers Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit, and Windows 8 64-bit.
There is no official Windows 11 listing for this package, and the archived driver should not be presented as a Windows 11 driver. It also does not provide a 32-bit Windows package. On Windows 7, required servicing and code-signing updates may be necessary before an older NVIDIA installer can run successfully.
Supported graphics cards
NVIDIA’s Windows 10 supported-products list includes selected cards from the GeForce RTX 20, GTX 16, GTX 10, GTX 900, GTX 700, and GTX 600 families, along with various NVIDIA TITAN models. Examples shown on NVIDIA’s list include the RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2060, GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1650, GTX 1080 Ti, GTX 1060, GTX 750 Ti, GT 710, and GTX 680.

That list is illustrative, not a substitute for checking your exact card. Do not assume that every model in a product family is supported, particularly when comparing desktop and notebook hardware. Check the complete product list on the relevant NVIDIA driver page before installation.
For notebooks, NVIDIA provides separate mobile packages and recommends checking the laptop manufacturer first. OEM packages can include custom Optimus or display-switching support, power-management changes, hotkeys, panel compatibility, and firmware-specific adjustments. NVIDIA’s notebook guidance is available on its mobile driver page.
How to identify your GPU and Windows architecture
- Press Windows + X and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters and record the complete NVIDIA model name.
- Open Settings → System → About and check whether Windows is 64-bit.
You can also press Windows + R, enter msinfo32, and check System Type. The dxdiag command opens DirectX Diagnostic Tool, where the Display tab shows the graphics adapter and installed driver information. Choose by exact GPU and operating system—not just by “GTX,” “RTX,” or video-memory capacity.

These are historical release highlights, not a promise of better performance in current games. NVIDIA’s release information does not establish that 430.39 is the fastest or most stable driver for every supported card.
Important legacy-support caveats
430.39 was released during a change in NVIDIA’s support policy. NVIDIA stated that ongoing Game Ready upgrades covered desktop Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal, Volta, and Turing GPUs, and mobile Maxwell, Pascal, and Turing GPUs. It also stated that newer Game Ready drivers after the final Release 418 driver would no longer support systems using mobile Kepler GPUs or NVIDIA 3D Vision.
This does not mean 430.39 was universally the final driver for every older card. A desktop Kepler card and a mobile Kepler GPU can have different driver paths, and some legacy systems may need a Release 418 branch or another version instead.

How to install GeForce 430.39
- Create a Windows restore point or confirm that you have another recovery method.
- Close games, browsers using hardware acceleration, video editors, monitoring tools, and other GPU-intensive applications.
- Download the package matching the exact GPU category, Windows edition, and 64-bit architecture. Notebook users should check the OEM package first.
- Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.
- Accept the license terms and continue through the installer.
- Choose Custom installation if you need control over the installed components.
- Select Perform a clean installation when replacing a corrupted driver or intentionally rolling back. This can reset NVIDIA Control Panel profiles and custom settings, so record important settings first.
- Install only the NVIDIA components you need. Optional software and components may vary by package.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
Installer screens can differ by operating-system version and package generation, so the wording may not be identical on every system.
Verify the installation
Device Manager
- Open Device Manager → Display adapters.
- Double-click the NVIDIA GPU and open the Driver tab.
- Check the installed driver version and confirm that Windows recognizes the expected GPU.
NVIDIA Control Panel
Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Help → System Information. Check the driver version and graphics-card model shown there.
Windows diagnostic tools
Run dxdiag and inspect the Display tab, or run msinfo32 to confirm system architecture and hardware information.
Troubleshooting and rollback
“This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible”
Recheck the exact GPU, Windows edition, 64-bit architecture, and desktop-versus-notebook package. Also confirm that the GPU appears correctly in Device Manager and is included in NVIDIA’s supported-products list. Do not force-install a package simply because the computer contains an NVIDIA chip.

“NVIDIA Installer failed”
- Restart Windows and try again.
- Close overclocking, monitoring, and GPU-tuning utilities.
- Temporarily disconnect from the internet if Windows Update is replacing the driver during setup.
- Use Custom installation and try the clean-install option.
- Review the NVIDIA installer log and Windows Event Viewer for a specific error.
- If the existing installation is corrupted, use a reputable display-driver cleanup procedure and then reinstall. Cleanup utilities are not risk-free or mandatory for every update.
- On a notebook, try the manufacturer’s driver before forcing NVIDIA’s generic package.
Black screen after reboot
Wait briefly in case Windows is completing display initialization. Then try Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver. If the display remains unusable, boot into Safe Mode and use Device Manager to roll back or uninstall the display driver, or restore the system restore point. A notebook may need its OEM driver reinstalled.
Code 43
Code 43 can result from unsupported hardware, driver corruption, GPU failure, modified firmware, laptop incompatibility, Windows Update conflicts, or signing problems. Reinstalling 430.39 will not fix every Code 43 condition; check the hardware and OEM compatibility as well as the software.
Windows 7 refuses the installer
Confirm that Windows is 64-bit, required servicing and code-signing updates are installed, the Windows 7/8/8.1 package—not the Windows 10 package—was downloaded, and the GPU is supported. Mobile Kepler systems may require a different legacy branch.
Should you install 430.39 in 2026?
Use 430.39 only when a specific reason requires it. Reasonable cases include a legacy game or application with a documented dependency, reproducing a historical benchmark, maintaining an offline archival Windows installation, investigating a known later-driver regression, or following an application vendor’s explicit version requirement.
For an internet-connected computer used normally, prefer a current driver supported by your GPU and operating system. Newer releases provide later game profiles, security fixes, and support for newer Windows and GPU features. Use NVIDIA’s advanced driver search or its official GeForce driver-selection page to find the appropriate current package.
Because NVIDIA’s archived page recommends updating to the latest driver, 430.39 should be treated as historical software rather than the default choice. The same principle applies to notebooks: use the OEM package when switchable graphics, docking, external displays, hotkeys, or custom power management are involved.
430.39 versus similarly numbered NVIDIA packages
Not every NVIDIA package with a similar version number is interchangeable. GeForce Game Ready, Quadro, enterprise, notebook, and other product branches can have different hardware lists, operating-system targets, and installation requirements. Confirm that the page explicitly identifies GeForce Game Ready Driver 430.39 WHQL before downloading.
