The AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS version is the most balanced GEEKOM AX8 configuration for most buyers because it combines a strong eight-core processor with Radeon 780M integrated graphics. The Ryzen 9 8945HS is mainly a CPU-tier upgrade, while the Intel models vary substantially: the Core i7-13620H version uses Intel UHD Graphics, whereas the Core i7-13700H and Core i9-13900H versions use Iris Xe-class graphics.
There is an important availability and naming caveat. The original AX8 launched in 2024 with several Intel and AMD configurations, but GEEKOM’s current official product page primarily presents the AMD AX8 Pro, not the complete original lineup. The official U.S. AX8 Pro page was listed as out of stock at the time of research, so buyers should verify the exact model, seller, warranty, and regional availability before ordering.
What is the GEEKOM AX8?
The GEEKOM AX8 is a compact, NUC-style Windows mini PC introduced in 2024. Its reported launch lineup used 13th-generation Intel Core H-series processors or AMD Ryzen 8000-series processors. Intel systems were shown in a white enclosure, while AMD versions were shown in blue. The launch coverage centered on JD.com and regional availability rather than a uniform global retail rollout.

The AX8 should not automatically be treated as the same product as the AX8 Pro or AX8 Max. These names refer to related but distinct configurations or later AX8-branded products. GEEKOM also sells similarly named systems such as the IT13, XT13 Pro, A8, and AE8. Marketplace sellers sometimes use these names interchangeably, so the processor, BIOS identifier, chassis photographs, memory specification, warranty, and seller identity matter more than the listing headline.

This article separates the original AX8 launch specifications from the current official AX8 Pro specifications. They should not be merged into one universal AX8 specification.
Tom’s Hardware reported the original AX8 launch lineup, while GEEKOM’s current AX8 Pro page documents the newer or related AMD-focused retail model.
Original AX8 configurations
The following table reflects the reported launch configurations, not guaranteed current inventory. The listed memory and storage combinations were launch-listing specifications for the original AX8 family.

Some secondary listings call the AMD high-end processor the “Ryzen 9 8949HS.” GEEKOM’s official AX8 Pro page and the launch reporting identify it as the Ryzen 9 8945HS. Treat “8949HS” as a likely transcription or listing error unless a seller can provide a verifiable model number.
Intel variants: the graphics difference matters
Intel’s branding alone does not tell you how suitable an AX8 is for gaming or GPU-accelerated work.
Core i7-13620H
- 10 cores: six performance cores and four efficiency cores.
- 16 total threads.
- Up to 4.9GHz P-core turbo frequency.
- 24MB Intel Smart Cache.
- Intel reference specifications list 64 execution units for its integrated processor graphics.
The AX8 launch table lists this configuration with Intel UHD Graphics. It is appropriate for office work, browsing, video playback, remote desktop, digital signage, and ordinary multi-monitor productivity when the actual ports and drivers support the intended setup. It is the least attractive AX8 option for gaming, demanding emulation, GPU-heavy creative work, or local workloads that depend on a capable graphics processor.
Core i7-13700H
- 14 cores: six performance cores and eight efficiency cores.
- 20 total threads.
- Up to 5.0GHz P-core turbo frequency.
- 24MB Intel Smart Cache.
- Intel reference specifications list 96 execution units for its Iris Xe-class integrated graphics.
This is a meaningful step up from the i7-13620H configuration in both CPU resources and listed graphics capability. It remains an integrated-graphics machine, however, and should be considered for older games, competitive titles at reduced settings, general acceleration, video playback, and light creative work rather than modern AAA gaming.

Core i9-13900H
- 14 cores: six performance cores and eight efficiency cores.
- 20 total threads.
- Up to 5.4GHz P-core turbo frequency.
- 24MB Intel Smart Cache.
- Intel reference specifications list 96 execution units for its Iris Xe-class integrated graphics.
The i9 offers higher peak CPU clocks than the i7-13700H, but both have the same core and thread count and the launch table assigns both Iris Xe graphics. It can be worthwhile for CPU-heavy work or if the 2TB configuration is useful, but it is not automatically a better gaming system.
Intel’s Iris Xe branding and performance depend partly on memory configuration and platform implementation. Verify that the specific AX8 has dual-channel memory, the advertised memory speed, current graphics drivers, and the expected BIOS settings.
Intel processor specifications are documented in Intel’s 13th-generation Core mobile processor specification table.
AMD Ryzen 8000 variants
Ryzen 7 8845HS
- 8 cores and 16 threads.
- Up to 5.1GHz boost clock.
- Radeon 780M integrated graphics.
- 12 RDNA 3 compute units.
- GEEKOM lists a 45W processor TDP and 38 TOPS of Ryzen AI performance on the AX8 Pro page.
Ryzen 9 8945HS
- 8 cores and 16 threads.
- Up to 5.2GHz boost clock.
- Radeon 780M integrated graphics.
- 12 RDNA 3 compute units.
- GEEKOM lists a 45W processor TDP and 39 TOPS of Ryzen AI performance on the AX8 Pro page.
Both AMD models use Radeon 780M graphics, so the Ryzen 9 is not a major graphics upgrade over the Ryzen 7. Its advantages are higher CPU boost potential and, in the reported launch lineup, a 2TB rather than 1TB storage configuration. It makes sense for CPU-heavy multitasking, compiling, compression, virtual machines, or a modest price premium—not simply because the name says Ryzen 9.

Which AX8 graphics option is best?
Among the reported configurations, the AMD Radeon 780M models are the safest choice for light gaming, emulation, GPU-assisted applications, and modern display workloads. Integrated graphics use system memory, so dual-channel operation and the actual memory speed can materially affect results.
- Intel UHD: choose for office work, media playback, remote desktop, and basic displays when the price is low. Avoid it when graphics performance matters.
- Intel Iris Xe: suitable for older or competitive games at reduced settings and general GPU acceleration, but still not a dedicated-gaming platform.
- Radeon 780M: the most compelling AX8 integrated GPU for light gaming and emulation. It is still not a substitute for a discrete GPU in demanding modern games or professional 3D work.
No reliable AX8-specific frame-rate claims should be assumed without testing the exact processor, memory configuration, BIOS power mode, and graphics driver. The Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 models may deliver different CPU performance, but gaming is often limited by their shared Radeon 780M GPU and memory bandwidth.
Memory, storage, and upgradeability
The original launch table lists 32GB of DDR5-6400 memory and either a 1TB or 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. The current official AX8 Pro page instead lists dual-channel DDR5-5600 SODIMM memory up to 64GB and one M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x4 SSD slot supporting up to 2TB.
This is a specification discrepancy, not a detail to overlook. DDR5-6400 should be treated as a launch-listing specification for reported original AX8 configurations; DDR5-5600 and up to 64GB belong to the current official AX8 Pro documentation. Do not assume that an Intel AX8 and AMD AX8 Pro share the same board, memory ceiling, firmware, or cooling design.
GEEKOM’s AX8 Pro specification identifies one internal M.2 Key-M slot for the SSD and a separate M.2 2230 slot for Wi-Fi. Before buying or upgrading, confirm:

- Whether the memory is removable SODIMM rather than soldered.
- How many memory slots are installed.
- Whether the supplied SSD is single-sided or double-sided.
- Whether a second storage device is supported.
- Whether opening the system affects the seller’s warranty.
- Whether the 64GB maximum is validated for the exact regional SKU.
- Whether a thermal pad or SSD heatsink is supplied.
Ports and multi-monitor support
The official AX8 Pro page lists the following connections:
- Two rear HDMI 2.0 ports.
- One rear USB4 Type-C port.
- One rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with Power Delivery.
- Two front USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports.
- One rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port.
- One rear USB 2.0 Type-A port.
- One front 3.5mm headset jack.
- One RJ45 Ethernet port.
- DC-in and Kensington lock.
GEEKOM claims support for four displays: two HDMI outputs at up to 4K/60Hz, USB4 output up to 8K/30Hz, and USB 3.2 Type-C output up to 4K/60Hz. These are manufacturer claims, not a guarantee that four 4K/60Hz screens will work simultaneously.

USB-C video requires a compatible DisplayPort Alt Mode monitor, dock, adapter, and cable. USB4 capability can vary with the port, cable, dock, and display device. HDMI 2.0 also does not offer the same capabilities as HDMI 2.1. Multi-display limits may depend on the graphics engine, bandwidth, adapter type, and operating-system driver.

The official AX8 Pro specification lists a Realtek RTL8125BG-CG 2.5GbE controller, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2. The GEEKOM AX-series manual also describes network speeds up to 2,500Mbps.
Wi-Fi 6E requires a compatible router and client environment. The 6GHz band can provide less congestion, but it generally has shorter range and weaker wall penetration than 5GHz. Channel availability and regulatory rules also vary by country, and real throughput is lower than the theoretical link rate.
Size, cooling, and physical mounting
GEEKOM’s U.S. AX8 Pro page lists a 112.4 × 112.4 × 37mm chassis with a 0.47-liter volume. A German GEEKOM page also lists 117 × 111.1 × 38.5mm while showing the smaller dimensions elsewhere on the same page. This documentation conflict matters if the computer must fit inside a tight enclosure, cabinet, or mounting bracket.
Confirm the dimensions for the exact regional SKU before installation. The product is described as using GEEKOM’s IceBlast 1.5 cooling system, but that name does not establish actual noise, temperatures, sustained clock speeds, or long-duration performance. Those require independent measurements of idle noise, load noise, CPU temperature, sustained frequency, GPU stability, and wall power after extended workloads.
Do not assume that the original AX8, AX8 Pro, and AX8 Max have identical mounting hardware or chassis dimensions.
Operating system, warranty, and support
The official AX8 Pro page lists Windows 11 Pro 64-bit, a three-year limited warranty, and a 30-day return and exchange period. It also makes a local U.S. warehouse shipping claim. These are official policy claims for that page and should be checked against the buyer’s country, purchase date, and seller.
A marketplace purchase may have a different warranty or return process. A clean Windows installation may require network access and manual installation of chipset, graphics, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet drivers. Activation may be tied to the device firmware. The supplied manual helps with hardware orientation but is not evidence of complete Linux driver compatibility.

Which one should you buy?
- Choose the Ryzen 7 8845HS for the best balance of CPU performance, Radeon 780M graphics, office work, programming, media, emulation, and light gaming.
- Choose the Ryzen 9 8945HS when CPU-heavy workloads or the included 2TB storage justify the premium. Do not expect a major gaming improvement over the Ryzen 7.
- Choose the Core i7-13700H or Core i9-13900H when Intel-specific software, drivers, pricing, or availability makes them preferable and the listing confirms Iris Xe-capable memory and the required ports.
- Avoid the Core i7-13620H when gaming, emulation, video editing, or GPU acceleration matters, especially if its price is close to a Radeon 780M model.
Availability and buying checklist
The original AX8 was a 2024-era, regionally variable product. GEEKOM’s current U.S. AX8 Pro page was marked out of stock and unavailable at the time of research. Availability can change, but buyers should not assume that an old marketplace listing represents current official stock or support.
Before ordering, verify:
- The exact product name: AX8, AX8 Pro, or AX8 Max.
- The complete CPU model, especially 8845HS versus the incorrectly listed “8949HS.”
- The actual graphics processor: UHD, Iris Xe, or Radeon 780M.
- Memory capacity, channel configuration, and advertised speed.
- SSD capacity and whether the drive is replaceable.
- Windows edition and included power adapter or plug.
- Seller identity, country of shipment, warranty location, and return window.
- Whether the listing’s dimensions and port layout match the exact regional SKU.
- Whether four-display or 8K claims are suitable for the intended cables, docks, and monitors.
- Whether the listing is a re-labeled or refurbished unit.
AX8 Pro, AX8 Max, and alternatives
The AX8 Pro is best understood as the currently documented AMD-focused member of the family. It lists Ryzen 7 8845HS or Ryzen 9 8945HS, Radeon 780M graphics, USB4, 2.5GbE, Wi-Fi 6E, up to 64GB DDR5-5600, and up to a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Its official U.S. page’s out-of-stock status makes regional availability particularly important.
The AX8 Max is another AX8-branded AMD mini PC. Its name alone does not prove that it is faster or that it has the same ports, cooling, storage expansion, or warranty. Verify its processor and complete specification before treating it as an alternative.
GEEKOM’s Japanese archive lists the XT13 Pro with Core i9-13900H or Core i7-13620H options. It may be a more identifiable Intel alternative, but its Japanese pricing, power plug, shipping, regional warranty, stock, and configuration should not be generalized to U.S. buyers.

Bottom line: buy the Ryzen 7 8845HS/Radeon 780M configuration when you want the most versatile AX8. Select the Ryzen 9 8945HS for heavier CPU workloads, not substantially better gaming. Consider the i7-13700H or i9-13900H only for a specific Intel requirement or a compelling price, and avoid the i7-13620H when graphics performance matters. Confirm the exact AX8 identity, regional stock, memory specification, warranty, and seller before paying.
