Geekflare and Firecrawl both offer developer-focused web data APIs, but they are not interchangeable in every workflow. Geekflare presents scraping alongside search, screenshots, and other APIs that draw from shared credits; Firecrawl centers on scraping, crawling, mapping, and search, with a particular emphasis on turning whole sites into content for AI and RAG systems. Neither vendor’s available product pages establish which service is faster, more reliable, or more accurate in a like-for-like test.

Choose by matching the API to your workload, then compare the credit cost for the same pages, output formats, and options. The pricing figures below are the vendors’ displayed plans accessed on September 29, 2026; plans and prices can change.

How their products differ

Geekflare: a wider shared-credit API suite

Geekflare describes its product as a collection of APIs with credits shared across services. Its Web Scraping API offers Markdown, HTML, JSON, and text output, JavaScript rendering, proxy routing, CAPTCHA and anti-bot handling, country targeting, and integrations including MCP, Zapier, Make, and n8n. These are capabilities described by the vendor; the published information does not quantify success rates across sites or regions. Geekflare Web Scraping API

For scrape requests, Geekflare states that a request costs one credit, proxy routing adds four credits (five total), and an aiPrompt adds six credits. Failed requests cost nothing, according to the same product page. Confirm how combined options are charged for your particular request before estimating large workloads.

Firecrawl: scraping plus site-wide discovery

Firecrawl offers scraping, crawling, mapping, and search. Its Crawl page emphasizes discovering pages across a site and extracting clean Markdown or JSON for knowledge bases, RAG applications, AI agents, content migrations, and onboarding flows. If the task starts with a domain and requires finding relevant pages across it, that site-wide orientation may matter more than a single-page scrape endpoint. Firecrawl Crawl

Firecrawl’s homepage says Scrape, Crawl, Map, and Monitor each cost one credit per page; Search costs two credits per ten results; Interact costs two credits per browser minute; and advanced features such as JSON can require extra credits. Read the current endpoint pricing carefully: “one page” does not necessarily mean equal work or equal output options between two providers. Firecrawl homepage

Credits are not a universal unit of work. Geekflare describes a shared pool across its APIs and adds credits for some scrape options; Firecrawl describes different credit rates by endpoint and can charge extra for advanced features. Estimate cost from the endpoints and options you will actually use, not from the headline allowance alone.

Geekflare’s own comparison page claims its 1-million-credit plan is $349/month versus Firecrawl at $749/month and says Geekflare is cheaper at other tiers. That claim does not line up directly with the Firecrawl Crawl page’s displayed Growth plan of $333/month for 500,000 credits, accessed September 29, 2026. Different plan sizes, billing periods, credit definitions, and dates can make a simple price comparison misleading. Geekflare’s comparison Firecrawl Crawl

Which should you choose for your workload?

Choose Geekflare when breadth and shared credits matter

  • You expect to use more than scraping, such as search or screenshots, and want those API categories under one credit pool.
  • You need a particular output format or vendor-described capability such as JavaScript rendering, proxy routing, country targeting, CAPTCHA handling, or one of its listed integrations.
  • Your request mix is predictable enough to model the extra credit charges for proxy routing or aiPrompt.

Choose Firecrawl when the task begins with a site

  • You need to discover and process many pages across a website rather than retrieve one known URL.
  • Your downstream workflow consumes Markdown or JSON for RAG, agent context, migration, or a knowledge base.
  • You want to evaluate its scrape, crawl, map, and search endpoints as parts of a site-data workflow.

Keep deployment requirements separate from feature claims

Geekflare’s vendor-authored comparison characterizes Firecrawl as open source and says self-hosting may matter to some teams. The cited product pages here do not establish current repository status, deployment requirements, or maintenance obligations, so verify those details in Firecrawl’s current official materials before making self-hosting a deciding factor. Geekflare’s comparison

Geekflare says all plans include access to its broader API collection and makes security statements that include GDPR compliance and a SOC 2 Type II audit underway. These are vendor statements; “underway” does not mean the audit is complete. Ask each vendor for the documentation and contractual terms your security review requires. Geekflare homepage

Run a fair trial before committing

  1. Build a representative URL set. Include pages from the domains and regions your production system will touch, with a mix of static pages, JavaScript-rendered pages, and pages that require the output format you need.
  2. Define the same deliverable. Compare equivalent page counts, extraction fields, output formats, and options. A crawl that discovers many pages is not directly comparable to a request against one known URL.
  3. Record credit use by endpoint. Include optional charges such as Geekflare proxy routing and aiPrompt, and Firecrawl’s endpoint-specific costs and advanced-feature charges.
  4. Check the output in your application. Measure whether the resulting Markdown, HTML, JSON, or text contains the content and structure your pipeline needs; vendor feature descriptions do not establish extraction quality for your sites.
  5. Estimate the recurring bill on the correct basis. Apply monthly workload to the actual plan allowance, and account for Firecrawl’s displayed paid prices being billed yearly.

The published vendor pages do not settle comparative latency, reliability, or extraction accuracy. A trial using your own representative sites is the practical way to assess those factors; avoid extrapolating a few successful URLs into a universal ranking.

Screenshot API alternative: ScreenshotNeo

If the requirement is specifically to capture clean website screenshots rather than extract web content for search or RAG, try ScreenshotNeo first: it removes common consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. It is a screenshot API and MCP server, not a replacement for Geekflare or Firecrawl’s web scraping and crawling workflows.

One-call screenshot example

With an API key, this cURL request captures the supplied URL as a WebP file. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API details.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents and MCP clients such as Claude and Cursor. Its pricing includes 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up free for ScreenshotNeo.

Common comparison mistakes

  • Comparing credits as if they were identical. Credit units depend on the endpoint and options, so model a real workload rather than dividing price by advertised credits.
  • Ignoring annual billing. Firecrawl’s listed paid monthly equivalents are billed yearly; compare total commitment as well as displayed monthly amount.
  • Treating vendor claims as independent tests. Feature pages describe capabilities, while the Geekflare-versus-Firecrawl comparison is written by Geekflare. Neither establishes a neutral quality or reliability result.
  • Assuming a scrape and a crawl are the same job. A known-page extraction and whole-site discovery can produce different amounts of work and different useful outputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Geekflare a good Firecrawl alternative?
