Yes, historically: Pixel Experience based on Android 10 was released for the Exynos Galaxy S7 (herolte) and S7 Edge (hero2lte). But neither device is maintained by Pixel Experience now. Its official pages show deprecated Android 11 builds dated September 23, 2021—not a current Android 10 download—and the project says older builds may be removed. Treat Android 10 as a legacy ROM, not a supported installation.
Before looking for a ZIP, confirm your exact model. The official builds target listed Exynos variants, not the U.S. Snapdragon models. Flashing the wrong package can leave the phone unable to boot.
What Pixel Experience Android 10 was
Pixel Experience is an Android custom ROM designed to provide a Pixel-like software experience. It replaces Samsung’s stock operating system with community-built software. That can mean a cleaner interface, but it does not reproduce every Samsung feature or guarantee the same camera processing, carrier support, or app compatibility.
Distinguish an official Pixel Experience build from an unofficial port, a re-upload, or a generic system image (GSI). A file labelled “Android 10” is not proof that it is an official, device-specific release. The historical XDA threads for the S7 and S7 Edge are leads, not confirmation that a current, trustworthy download remains available.

Check the full model number in the phone’s settings or on its label; “Galaxy S7” alone is not specific enough. The official herolte page and hero2lte page list the supported variants. Many U.S. Snapdragon models—including SM-G930V/U/A/T and SM-G935V/U/A/T—are not on those lists. Do not flash an Exynos package to one of them. Pixel Experience’s FAQ cautions that similar-looking model names do not make devices interchangeable.
Is Android 10 still officially available?
Pixel Experience’s device and download pages now identify the S7 and S7 Edge as no longer maintained. The last listed official releases are Android 11 builds dated September 23, 2021, marked deprecated: see the S7 download page and S7 Edge download page. These are not Android 10 packages and should not be treated as current support.
The project says older Android-version builds may be removed rather than kept permanently. So there is no assurance that an official Android 10 ZIP is still hosted. If you find one elsewhere, verify the device codename, exact model, maintainer and thread, whether it is official or unofficial, and any published hash. Do not install a partial, modified, or unverified re-upload. Match the recovery and firmware requirements to that exact ROM; current Android 11 instructions are not automatically valid for an Android 10 package.

Before you install
- Make and test a full backup. Copy photos, downloads, contacts, messages, call history, messenger data and app-specific files. Secure authenticator recovery codes or transfer tokens before wiping. A sync indicator is not proof that a backup can be restored.
- Plan a stock-firmware recovery first. Locate the correct stock firmware for your exact model and region and know how you would restore it. Do not start if you have no workable recovery plan.
- Test the phone on stock software. Check SIM registration, calls, SMS, LTE data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera, fingerprint reader, GPS, NFC if needed, and charging. The official S7 and S7 Edge installation guides recommend testing stock first. They note that VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling may need to be provisioned while stock software is installed.
- Confirm unlock eligibility. The process requires an unlockable bootloader. Availability and menu labels can vary by model, region and firmware; do not assume every S7 can be unlocked in the same way.
- Prepare the basics. Charge the phone, use a reliable data-capable USB cable, and have a computer with ADB and Heimdall installed. Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking if those options are available on your stock firmware.
- Expect consequences. Unlocking erases data; installing unofficial software trips Samsung’s Knox warranty fuse and removes stock Samsung software from the active system. Samsung Pay, Knox-managed work features, DRM services and carrier features may stop working. Banking-app, Play Integrity, NFC, fingerprint, camera, VoLTE and battery results depend on the ROM, carrier, firmware and app policies.
Menu path on many Samsung firmware versions: Settings → About phone → Software information → Build number; tap Build number repeatedly to enable Developer options, then look there for OEM unlocking and USB debugging. Wording can differ.
Installation overview for a verified matching package
The sequence below reflects Pixel Experience’s device-specific installation framework. It is not a guarantee that an Android 10 package is still officially obtainable, nor a substitute for the exact instructions bundled with a historical or unofficial build. Stop if those instructions conflict with this outline.
- Confirm the exact device. Match the model number and codename to the relevant herolte or hero2lte page. Never infer compatibility from the phone’s marketing name.
- Back up everything and secure stock firmware. Formatting data deletes internal storage. Back up EFS or modem-related information if the device-specific instructions recommend it.
- Install ADB and Heimdall and check communication. On the computer, run:
heimdall version heimdall print-pitThe official guides use Heimdall for Samsung Download Mode. If communication fails, check the cable, USB port, drivers and computer before proceeding.
- Enter Download Mode. Power the phone off, then hold
Volume Down + Home + Power. Follow the on-screen confirmation and connect USB. - Flash the correct recovery image. Use a recovery specifically for the codename—not a Qualcomm variant or another S7 model. TWRP’s device download pages are herolte and hero2lte. The Pixel Experience guide uses an
.imgrecovery image and gives this Heimdall pattern:heimdall flash --RECOVERY <recovery_filename>.img --no-rebootReplace the placeholder with the actual filename. Follow the exact ROM maintainer’s recovery requirements if they differ.
- Boot straight into custom recovery. Do not let stock Android boot after flashing recovery; it may overwrite the custom recovery. Immediately use
Volume Up + Home + Powerto enter it. - Format data only after confirming the backup. In recovery, choose Wipe → Format Data and confirm. This is destructive: it deletes internal storage and removes encryption. It is not the same as clearing cache.
- Sideload the ROM ZIP. In recovery choose Advanced → ADB Sideload and start it. On the computer run:
adb sideload filename.zipUse only the verified ZIP for this device and Android version. Do not add a separate Google Apps package unless that exact ROM’s instructions require it; Pixel Experience packages commonly included Google services, but requirements must be checked for the specific file.
- Reboot and allow time. After installation, run
adb rebootor use recovery’s reboot option. First boot can take about 15 minutes. If it stays at the boot animation far longer, do not repeatedly flash unrelated files; return to recovery and check the codename, ZIP integrity, wipe, recovery and firmware requirements.
For the exact device-specific process, consult the official guides for herolte and hero2lte. Their current instructions concern the supported device pages, not a promise of an available Android 10 build.

Common problems and what to do
Recovery reports “Error 7”
Stop rather than forcing the flash. Pixel Experience lists wrong-device ZIPs, an incomplete wipe when migrating from an unofficial build, outdated recovery, or old/incompatible vendor, modem or bootloader firmware as possible causes. Recheck the codename and model, then check the ROM’s firmware and recovery requirements. Only retry with a verified matching package after completing the required wipe. See the project’s FAQ.
Custom recovery disappears
If the phone boots to stock recovery after flashing TWRP, the stock system may have had a chance to overwrite it. Reflash the correct recovery and boot directly into recovery instead of Android.
Sideload appears to stop around 47%
The official guide notes that a successful transfer may appear to stop at 47% and show Total xfer: 0.98x; certain messages, including adb: failed to read command: Success, can appear after a successful transfer. Judge success by recovery’s result and the guide for your exact package, not the percentage alone.

Boot loop or failure to start
Common possibilities include the wrong variant, a corrupt ZIP, failure to format data, incompatible firmware or recovery, or mixing components intended for different Android versions. Avoid accepting optional apps or services offered by recovery unless the ROM instructions explicitly require them; the official guide warns that add-ons can contribute to boot loops or data corruption.
No calls, mobile data, VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling
Carrier support, region, modem and bootloader firmware, and IMS provisioning can all matter. Test these services on stock before flashing, and do not count on provisioning VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling afterward. Keep the correct stock firmware available for restoration.
Camera, banking or DRM features differ
An AOSP-based ROM may not reproduce Samsung’s proprietary camera processing or features. Banking and contactless-payment apps, DRM-protected streaming, enterprise controls and device certification may also be affected by unlocking or custom software; the outcome is not universal. If these functions are essential, stock firmware—or a different phone—may be a better choice.

Should you install it in 2026?
It can make sense as an experiment on a compatible Exynos phone you can afford to troubleshoot, especially if you want a Pixel-like interface and accept old software. It is a poor choice if you need current security updates, guaranteed access to an official Android 10 download, dependable carrier-specific features, or a reliable daily driver.
Other options involve trade-offs: stock Samsung firmware generally preserves Samsung and carrier integrations but is old; a maintained community ROM may offer a newer Android version, but newer does not automatically mean safer or more stable; a Samsung-based custom ROM may retain more hardware features but has its own support and trust questions. For current app support and security, a newer phone may be more practical than reviving a 2016 model.
Plan your way back before changing anything
Returning to stock requires firmware for the exact model and region and a device-appropriate restoration process. The information here does not verify current stock-firmware files or a complete restore procedure, so do not treat the install steps as a rollback guide. Locate and verify your recovery route before unlocking or wiping. Do not relock the bootloader as a cleanup step: Pixel Experience’s FAQ warns that relocking can make a device unusable. Only consider it if exact device-specific instructions explicitly confirm it is safe.
