Leaked promotional images published on January 14, 2025, and attributed to Evan Blass offered an early look at the Galaxy S25 family’s camera styling and a One UI 7 feature later called Now Brief. The images were a pre-launch visual preview—not a hands-on report or proof of camera performance. Samsung announced the S25 series on January 22 and confirmed several of the leak’s broader clues.
What the January leak showed
The images covered a standard Galaxy S25-series phone and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The original report described the material as promotional imagery attributed to Evan Blass, released a week before Samsung’s Unpacked announcement. It showed exterior design and part of the software experience, rather than a full specification sheet. See the January 14 leak report and gallery.
In the regular-model image, the phone appeared in dark blue, with camera rings that matched the body color. The rings and camera area looked visually emphasized, but that is a design observation—not evidence of a new sensor or lens. Promotional lighting and renders can also make finishes and contours look different from retail hardware.
The Ultra image showed a multi-camera rear layout, rounded corners, very slim-looking display bezels and an S Pen. The rounded shape stood out against the squarer corners associated with earlier Ultra designs. The image did not establish the phone’s exact dimensions, materials or real-world screen borders.

Gallery: a design preview, not a camera test
The leak’s value was in showing how Samsung presented the phones, not how well they took pictures. An exterior image cannot establish sensor size, focal length, optical stabilization, low-light performance, zoom quality or computational photography results. Nor did the matching rings on the regular model prove that its camera hardware had changed.
The eventual hardware story varied by model. Samsung confirmed that the S25 Ultra had a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, up from the S24 Ultra’s 12-megapixel ultrawide. Samsung also cited an updated ProVisual Engine and features including Virtual Aperture and Samsung Log. Those specifications and features came from Samsung’s launch materials, not from what could be inferred from the leaked image. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 launch announcement.

For the Galaxy S25 and S25+, the leak did not indicate a major camera-hardware redesign. Samsung’s U.S. product page lists a 50-megapixel wide camera and a 12-megapixel front camera for the S25. One UI 7 clue: Now Brief and Now Bar
The software glimpse appeared to show Now Brief, a personalized summary feature, alongside the broader One UI 7 experience. At the time, that identification was an interpretation of leaked promotional material; Samsung had not yet formally introduced the S25 software experience.

Samsung later described Now Brief as surfacing tailored suggestions and information, and the Now Bar as a place to access ongoing activities and relevant information. In practical terms, the two names refer to related but distinct ideas: a brief of useful, personalized information and an interface area for timely items such as ongoing activities. The leak hinted at Samsung’s move toward more contextual, proactive software, but could not show how every feature would behave in final retail software or in every region.
Samsung presented One UI 7 as part of a broader AI-focused direction, including multimodal interactions involving speech, text, images and video. That made the software clue arguably more consequential than the matching camera rings: it previewed the kind of experience Samsung would emphasize at launch. Leak versus what Samsung confirmed
January 22, 2025: Samsung announced the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, confirmed One UI 7 at launch, and made preorders available in the U.S. The company highlighted Now Brief and Now Bar, and confirmed the Ultra’s 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. Samsung listed original U.S. starting prices of $799.99 for the S25, $999.99 for the S25+ and $1,299.99 for the S25 Ultra. These are launch prices, not a statement of current 2026 street pricing. What the leak did not prove
- It did not test or establish photo and video quality, stabilization, zoom or low-light performance.
- It did not confirm exact camera sensors for every model; Samsung’s later specifications are the stronger source for that.
- It did not guarantee that the final retail software would look or work exactly like the promotional preview.
- It did not establish that One UI 7 features would be exclusive to the S25 series.
- It did not establish regional availability, carrier offers or current prices.
For readers assessing the phones now, the confirmed differences matter more than the leaked styling. The standard S25 and S25+ share the broad One UI 7 generation; the Ultra adds the S Pen and the family’s notable ultrawide camera upgrade. Compare current pricing and availability in your market rather than relying on launch-era U.S. prices.
