Short answer: Firefox and Microsoft Edge open their screenshot tools with Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows and Linux. Firefox uses Command+Shift+S on macOS. In each browser, you must then choose the full-page option. Chrome’s documented method is in DevTools: Device Mode, then More options → Capture a full size screenshot. A current Safari shortcut is not verified here, so this guide does not guess one.
A full-page capture is different from a normal screen grab: it includes content below the visible viewport. Use the browser table first, then follow the browser-specific steps and troubleshooting notes.

The shortcut in the first two rows opens a capture interface; it does not finish the job by itself. The full-page command is the second action.
What “full website screenshot” means
A visible-area screenshot records only pixels currently inside the browser window. A full-page screenshot renders the webpage beyond that viewport, including content you would normally reach by scrolling. Firefox labels the choices Save full page and Save visible. Edge calls its whole-document action Capture full page. Chrome describes its command as capturing the whole page, including content that is not visible in the viewport.

Use full-page mode for documentation, bug reports, design reviews and archiving a page in one image. Choose visible mode when you specifically need to show what a user sees without the rest of the document.
Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+S or Command+Shift+S
Windows and Linux
- Open the page you want to capture.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- In Firefox’s screenshot interface, choose Save full page.
- Save or locate the resulting image in Firefox’s default download folder.
macOS
- Open the target page.
- Press Command+Shift+S.
- Select Save full page, not Save visible.
- Retrieve the downloaded image from your configured download location.
Mozilla’s support documentation, updated June 15, 2026, explicitly says that Firefox can capture the full page. If the shortcut is intercepted by another application or an extension, open Firefox’s screenshot interface from the browser’s page actions and select the same full-page control.
Firefox DevTools alternative
Firefox also exposes a developer-tool route. In DevTools, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons, then use the screenshot button. Firefox’s Web Console supports the command below, where page.png is the filename you want:

Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+Shift+S, then Capture full page
- Open the webpage in Edge.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Use Edge’s save or copy control to keep the image.
Microsoft describes this feature as capturing an entire webpage, including material beyond the screen. Microsoft also cautions that Screenshot availability and functionality can vary by device type, market and browser version. Therefore, treat Ctrl+Shift+S as the documented Edge entry point, not a guarantee that every installation exposes identical controls.
If the shortcut opens a different panel, update Edge and look for the browser’s Screenshot command in its menu. Managed work devices can disable or alter browser features through policy.
Google Chrome: use DevTools for a full-size capture
Menu workflow
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with F12, Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows/Linux, or Command+Option+I on macOS.
- Activate Device Mode using the phone-and-tablet icon in the DevTools toolbar.
- Open the DevTools More options menu.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot.
Chrome’s developer documentation defines this command as capturing the whole page, including content outside the viewport. The exact placement of controls can change as Chrome DevTools evolves, but the action remains in the Device Mode capture menu.

Press Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+P on Mac to open the DevTools Command Menu. The reviewed Chrome documentation establishes that menu shortcut, but it documents area screenshots rather than a dedicated full-page command reached by the keystroke alone. Do not advertise Ctrl/Command+Shift+P as a one-step full-page screenshot shortcut. Use the Device Mode menu path above.

Safari: do not rely on an unverified shortcut
The current Safari-for-Mac full-page procedure and keyboard shortcut were not confirmed in authoritative Apple documentation reviewed for this guide. Safari’s behavior can also depend on macOS and Safari versions. Before publishing a team runbook or automation instruction, check Apple’s current support page for your exact release. Until then, label Safari as unverified rather than borrowing Firefox’s or Edge’s shortcut.
Capture quality and page-behavior checks
Before saving a long page, check the following:
- Wait for content: allow images, charts and fonts to finish loading. A capture taken while a page is still changing can omit late content.
- Scroll-driven sections: pages that load material only after scrolling may require you to scroll through the document first, then retry.
- Overlays: cookie notices, newsletter dialogs and chat bubbles can cover content. Dismiss them when your purpose is to document the page itself.
- Authentication: confirm that you are signed in to the intended account before capturing private material, and inspect the image before sharing it.
- Very long documents: use a descriptive filename and an image format that your documentation system accepts. A PDF or several viewport images may be easier to review than one extremely tall bitmap.
- Responsive layout: Chrome’s Device Mode and browser screenshot tools can reflect the active viewport width. Set the width you need before capturing.
When the shortcut does not work
Nothing opens after pressing the keys
- Verify the operating system: Firefox’s macOS chord is Command+Shift+S, while Windows/Linux uses Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Check whether another application, window manager or accessibility utility owns the shortcut.
- Use the browser menu or DevTools route instead of repeating the same key combination.
The image contains only the visible screen
- In Firefox, choose Save full page, not Save visible.
- In Edge, choose Capture full page.
- In Chrome, confirm that you selected Capture a full size screenshot, not an area or viewport capture.
Images or lazy-loaded sections are missing
Wait for the page to settle, then scroll through sections that load on demand and capture again. Disable content-blocking extensions for a controlled test only when your organization permits it; extensions can change what the page renders.
Edge’s command is unavailable
Microsoft documents variation by device, market and browser version. Install the latest approved Edge build, check whether the feature is disabled by enterprise policy, and use another verified workflow if the control still does not appear.
The capture is blocked by a consent or sign-in dialog
Complete the consent step or sign in before capturing, provided you are authorized to do so. For a public documentation image, dismiss the dialog and verify that no private information remains in the resulting file.
