For a one-off full-page screenshot, use your browser’s built-in tools; for repeatable captures, use Playwright. A browser extension can be convenient if you capture pages often, but check its permissions and data handling first. Chrome DevTools is another manual option, though its current steps are not verified here, so the exact interface may differ.
A full-page screenshot captures the whole scrollable webpage, not just what is visible in the browser window. Playwright describes it as a capture “as if you had a very tall screen and the page could fit it entirely.” Playwright documentation
Which full-page screenshot method should you choose?

Choose based on setup effort, how often you need to rerun the capture, the control you need over the result, and whether you are comfortable granting an extension access to webpages. No one method is guaranteed to render every dynamic page perfectly.
1. Capture a full page in Firefox Developer Tools
Firefox’s Developer Tools documentation covers screenshots of an entire page or an element, and its tips document a console command with a full-page option. This is a reasonable starting point for an occasional capture if Firefox is already your browser.

- Open the page you want to capture in Firefox.
- Open Developer Tools and use its screenshot capability to capture the entire page. Consult the current Firefox screenshot instructions for the available interface and options in your version.
- If you prefer the console, follow Mozilla’s documented full-page screenshot command in its Developer Tools tips.
- Open the saved image and check that the content you need is present.
Firefox’s documentation also describes capturing an element, which can be useful when the whole page is not the desired subject.
2. Capture a full-size page with Chrome DevTools
Chrome DevTools is a manual option for people who already use Chrome’s developer tools. However, current first-party documentation verifying the exact full-page workflow and menu labels is not established here. Because DevTools interfaces can change, avoid relying on a specific sequence of labels without checking the version of Chrome you have installed.

If you need a workflow with documented full-page controls, use Firefox’s documented screenshot tools or Playwright instead. If you use Chrome’s available capture controls, inspect the resulting file rather than assuming it includes all content.

Playwright is the strongest fit of these four methods when you need to rerun captures or incorporate them into development work. Use the CLI
Once Playwright’s command-line tooling is available in your environment, the documented full-page flag is:
playwright screenshot --full-page https://example.com page.pngReplace the URL and output filename with your target page and preferred filename. The CLI can infer the output format from the filename extension.

Use the Page API
In a Playwright script, navigate to the page and call the page screenshot method with fullPage: true. For example, in JavaScript:

4. Consider a browser extension for frequent manual captures
An extension may suit someone who wants a toolbar action rather than developer tools or a script. This is a category, not a recommendation for a particular extension: no specific extension’s current capabilities or privacy terms are established here.
- Review the permissions it requests and whether they make sense for your use.
- Check whether it stores screenshots locally or uploads them, and read its current privacy policy.
- Confirm its output formats and whether it captures the whole page or only the visible viewport.
- Check that it is still supported for your browser version.
Check the capture before you rely on it
Pages that load content as you scroll can produce incomplete screenshots if some sections have not loaded yet. Inspect the saved image for missing content; if a section is absent, let it load and capture again. Sticky elements, authentication, unusually long pages, and other dynamic behavior can also affect what appears. The available documentation establishes full-page capture capability, not identical results for every site or browser.
