FIFA 22’s Web App launched on September 22, 2021, and its Companion App followed on September 23. FIFA 22 launched worldwide on October 1, 2021. These are historical dates: FIFA 22’s apps are no longer the active, supported Ultimate Team apps. EA’s current Web and Companion Apps serve the current EA SPORTS FC title, not FIFA 22. If you are looking for an app that works today, use EA’s current Web and Companion App guidance.
This guide explains how the FIFA 22 apps worked, who could use them early, how players logged in or installed the mobile app at the time, and what the launch rules meant for access.

FIFA 22 app dates and current status
- FUT 22 Web App: September 22, 2021.
- FUT 22 Companion App: September 23, 2021.
- FIFA 22 worldwide launch: October 1, 2021.
- Current status: The FIFA 22-specific apps are legacy services, not the active apps for managing a current Ultimate Team club.
EA confirmed the Web and mobile release dates in its FUT 22 launch update. The game’s worldwide release date was October 1, as stated in EA’s launch announcement.
What were the Web App and Companion App?
Both were tools for managing a FIFA Ultimate Team club without opening the full game, but they were different interfaces:

Depending on account eligibility and which features were enabled, users could manage squads and club items, work on objectives and Squad Building Challenges, customize aspects of the club or stadium, and use the Transfer Market. Contemporary coverage also described signing players, choosing lineups, and styling a stadium as app functions. Access to a feature—especially the market—was not guaranteed for every account from the outset.
When did the FIFA 22 Web App launch?
The Web App launched on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, ahead of the full game. Contemporary launch reporting put its expected go-live time at about 10:00 a.m. Pacific / 1:00 p.m. Eastern / 6:00 p.m. UK time; EA’s official update confirmed the date. The time is best treated as a reported schedule, not a guarantee that every user gained access at precisely that minute.
When did the Companion App launch?
The mobile Companion App followed one day later, on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Players generally needed to update the existing FIFA Companion App or install the current version from the official app store. The Web App was not a mobile download; it was accessed in a browser.

Who could use the apps early?
Early access was primarily intended for returning FUT players. Historical FIFA 22 eligibility guidance said a player generally needed to have created a FUT Club and played FUT 21 before August 1, 2021, with the EA Account in good standing. That cutoff was specific to FIFA 22’s launch-era rules; it should not be treated as a standing rule for later games.
Several separate checks mattered:
- EA Account: The account had to be the one linked to the platform account used for FIFA.
- Returning-player history: New players, or people who had not played FUT 21 by the relevant cutoff, might not qualify for early app access.
- Account standing: Restrictions or security issues could affect access.
- Platform continuity: A club or reward expected on one platform might not appear when signing in through another identity or platform.
- Transfer Market permission: Being able to enter the app did not automatically mean the market was unlocked.
Buying or pre-ordering FIFA 22 did not necessarily replace the returning-player criteria for early app access. Historical eligibility details were reported in FIFA Ultimate Team Italia’s launch coverage; EA’s own launch update is the primary reference for the app schedule and deadlines.
How did Web App login work?
During the FIFA 22 service period, players opened EA’s official Ultimate Team Web App page, chose the login option, and signed in with the EA Account associated with their FIFA platform account. EA might request a security code or other verification. If prompted to select a linked account or club, users needed to choose the one tied to their FIFA 21/FIFA 22 activity.

- Open the official EA Web App destination—not a third-party site claiming to host a FIFA login.
- Select the sign-in option and enter the correct EA Account email and password.
- Complete any security verification or one-time code request.
- Confirm the linked platform identity or club if prompted.
There was no separate FIFA 22 username for this login. If the app opened successfully but showed no club or rewards, signing into the wrong EA Account was a common explanation. Do not create another EA Account or unlink accounts before checking which one is actually connected to your console, PC, or platform account. Unlinking casually can create further access complications.
How was the Companion App downloaded?
These were the historical installation steps in 2021; current store listings may instead be for the successor EA SPORTS FC app.
iPhone and iPad
- Open the Apple App Store.
- Search for the official EA SPORTS FIFA Companion app.
- Check that Electronic Arts is the developer, then install or update the app.
- Sign in with the EA Account linked to FIFA 22.
Android
- Open Google Play.
- Search for the official EA SPORTS FIFA Companion app.
- Confirm Electronic Arts is the publisher, then install or update.
- Sign in with the linked EA Account.
Avoid APK downloads, unofficial clones, “free FIFA Points” pages, coin generators, browser extensions that claim to automate trading, and sites asking for EA credentials outside EA’s official sign-in flow. Such services can put an account or its credentials at risk. The FIFA 22 Web App itself was browser-based, not an app to download.

When did players have to log into the full game?
October 17, 2021 was EA’s stated latest date for using the Companion App without first entering the full game. After that, players needed to launch FIFA 22 on their platform and enter FUT at least once to continue using the apps. Opening only the Web App or Companion App did not satisfy that requirement. The date and rule were part of EA’s FUT 22 launch guidance.

Pre-Season Rewards had their own distribution and redemption schedule; they were not necessarily available on the first day of the Web App. The reward dates above reflect the schedule EA gave in its launch update.

The login worked, but the club or rewards were missing
Check that the signed-in EA Account is the one linked to the platform account and FUT club. If you changed platforms, verify the original platform identity rather than assuming club progress or rewards transferred. Avoid unlinking accounts until you understand the consequences.

The app said to wait until the game was launched
A player who was new to FUT 22, missed the FUT 21 activity cutoff, or used an account without the required history might not have early access. During the launch period, the practical next step was to launch FIFA 22 on the linked platform, enter Ultimate Team, and then try the app again.
The app opened, but the Transfer Market was locked
App access and Transfer Market access were separate. EA could delay or withhold market access based on account eligibility, activity, or security requirements. A working login did not mean that trading would be available immediately.
The Companion App did not appear in the store
In 2021, the FIFA 21 Companion App might have needed an update, the listing might not yet have refreshed, or the device might not have met the app’s requirements. Searching for the official Companion App name and checking the publisher helped distinguish the legitimate app from unrelated results. In 2026, a listing for EA SPORTS FC is a successor app, not a FIFA 22 app.

No—not as an active, supported FIFA 22 Ultimate Team service. EA’s current guidance says the Web and Companion Apps are available for the current EA SPORTS FC title after the annual transition. That successor service is not a way to reopen or manage a FIFA 22 club. For current app availability and sign-in information, consult EA’s current Web and Companion App help page.
The practical distinction is simple: FIFA 22’s September 2021 release dates and launch requirements are useful historical information, but searching for a FIFA 22 download or entering EA credentials on an unofficial site will not restore its retired app access.
