Exertis AV closed its UK professional audiovisual distribution operation and ceased trading from 1 March 2026. The announcement, reported by MicroScope on 26 February 2026, confirmed the end of Exertis AV as a trading operation but did not identify a buyer, successor distributor, insolvency procedure or specific reason for the closure.
What happened to Exertis AV?
Exertis AV announced that it would close its UK AV distribution business and stop trading from Sunday, 1 March 2026. The business served the professional audiovisual and communications channel, working with vendors, customers, integrators and partners on AV solutions and complex projects.
Its farewell announcement adopted a retrospective and appreciative tone. It thanked customers, vendors, integrators, partners and staff, and highlighted the company’s portfolio development, technical capability and industry relationships.

It did not announce a purchaser or successor, give a redundancy figure, explain how open orders would be handled, or set out arrangements for stock, returns, warranties and ongoing technical support.

What exactly closed?
The reported closure concerns Exertis AV and its UK AV distribution operation. The available reporting does not identify the relevant legal entity or state whether the business entered administration, liquidation or another formal process.
That distinction matters. “Ceased trading” describes the announced end of the operation’s trading activity; it does not, by itself, prove insolvency or bankruptcy. Nor does the closure mean that every Exertis business disappeared at the same time.
There is also no confirmed evidence in the available source that selected brands, contracts, stock or employees were transferred to another distributor.

The closure took place during wider Exertis upheaval
Exertis AV’s closure came during a broader period of change following DCC’s sale of much of its Exertis business to private-equity firm Aurelius in July 2025.

According to the MicroScope report, the transaction covered the Exertis UK&I Business and Consumer operation, Hypertec, Exertis Supplies, Exertis Ireland, Macro EV, Exertis Supply Chain Services, MTR and Ztorm. The reported enterprise value was £100 million, calculated on a cash-free, debt-free and normalised-working-capital basis. The transaction excluded the UK enterprise operation and some other European units.
The wider group context included restructuring, executive departures and staff being placed on notice. Exertis Supplies was also sold separately in January 2026 to evo, where it was expected to sit under evo’s Vow business.
That sequence provides context, but it does not establish that Aurelius ordered or directly caused the Exertis AV closure. The available report says Aurelius was approached for comment and declined to comment on businesses in its portfolio. The defensible conclusion is therefore chronological: Exertis AV closed during the post-transaction restructuring period, while the specific cause remains undisclosed.

Statements that “Exertis has closed” or that “evo bought Exertis AV” would therefore overstate what has been confirmed.
What the closure could mean for the AV channel
The immediate practical effects depend on the status of individual accounts, orders and vendor agreements. The closure announcement does not answer those operational questions, but it creates several issues for channel partners to resolve.
Vendors and manufacturers
Manufacturers that used Exertis AV may need to confirm whether their UK authorisations, account contacts, stock arrangements, rebates and project registrations remain valid. They may also need to appoint replacement distribution partners or bring some fulfilment and support activities in-house.

The loss of a specialist distributor can affect more than product ordering. AV distributors often support demonstrations, solution design, technical configuration, training, project coordination and partner development. Whether those capabilities move elsewhere has not been confirmed.

Integrators and resellers
Integrators and resellers with active projects should establish who now owns each commercial and operational issue. Useful questions include:
- Who will fulfil open purchase orders and project deliveries?
- Where should new orders and credit applications be sent?
- What happens to quotations, special pricing, rebates and project registrations?
- Who controls demonstration equipment, loan stock and advance-replacement arrangements?
- How will returns, repairs and warranty claims be processed?
- Will existing account-management and technical contacts remain available?
These are sensible continuity checks, not evidence that any particular order, warranty or customer account has been lost.
Competition and market structure
Exertis AV’s exit may create an opportunity for competing UK distributors to pursue its vendor relationships, integrator accounts, technical staff and project pipeline. It could also increase concentration in parts of the professional AV distribution market if equivalent specialist capacity is not replaced.

What remains unknown
The following points are not established by the cited report:
- the legal entity involved and the formal legal mechanism of the closure;
- the number of employees affected specifically at Exertis AV;
- whether the business was wound down on a solvent basis or entered a formal insolvency process;
- the treatment of unpaid invoices, credit balances and outstanding customer payments;
- the fate of open orders, warehouse stock, demo equipment and project deliveries;
- the handling of returns, repairs and warranties;
- whether vendors appointed replacement distributors;
- whether any brands, contracts, staff or customer accounts transferred elsewhere; and
- the precise financial or strategic reason for the closure.
Until formal company, court, insolvency or vendor documentation answers those questions, they should not be presented as settled facts.
