Apple TV+ had four clearly scheduled series premieres or season launches in January 2025: Severance season 2, new conspiracy thriller Prime Target, Eva the Owlet season 2, and Mythic Quest season 4. They arrived between January 17 and January 29, with the two major adult releases following weekly schedules rather than dropping complete seasons at once.

Apple announced a 10-episode season, with episodes released weekly through March 21, 2025. The schedule meant that only the premiere was available on January 17; the complete season was not released at once. Apple’s announcement confirms both the premiere date and episode rollout.
Best for: Viewers wanting an atmospheric workplace mystery, science fiction, and an ongoing weekly conversation.
Watch first: Season 1 is strongly recommended before season 2.

Prime Target centers on Edward Brooks, a mathematics postgraduate who believes he is close to finding a pattern in prime numbers capable of unlocking computer systems worldwide. His research draws him into an apparent conspiracy, alongside NSA agent Taylah Sanders.
Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell lead the cast, with Stephen Rea and David Morrissey among the supporting performers. Apple announced an eight-episode season: the first two episodes arrived on January 22, followed by weekly Wednesday releases through March 5, 2025. Unlike the other adult-focused entries in the January lineup, Prime Target was a series premiere rather than a continuation. It was therefore the clearest entry point for subscribers looking for a new thriller without catching up on earlier seasons.
Best for: Viewers who want a new conspiracy thriller involving mathematics, surveillance, and technology.

Eva the Owlet season 2 — January 24
What arrived: Season 2 premiered Friday, January 24, 2025.
Based on the Owl Diaries children’s books, Eva the Owlet follows a young owl who explores her world, makes friends, helps others, and records her experiences in a diary. It is Apple TV+’s children’s and family animation entry for the month.
Season 2 belongs on a complete January release list even though many streaming roundups focus primarily on adult dramas and comedies. Apple’s January press index recorded season-two promotion for the series, while contemporary release coverage listed January 24 as the premiere date. Tom’s Guide’s January roundup also included the date.

Best for: Preschool and early-elementary viewers and families looking for an animated series about friendship, problem-solving, and everyday discoveries.

The January premiere made it the month’s principal comedy release. Apple TV+ positioned the show as a returning series rather than a new program, so existing viewers already familiar with the team and its workplace relationships were the natural audience. The premiere date was listed in contemporary January release coverage.

Watch first: Earlier seasons are recommended for the strongest context, particularly if you want the ongoing character arcs to land properly.
Which January 2025 Apple TV+ show should you watch?
- For science fiction and prestige drama: Start with Severance, but watch season 1 first.
- For a new adult series: Try Prime Target, the month’s only series premiere.
- For comedy: Choose Mythic Quest season 4 after catching up with the earlier seasons.
- For children and family viewing: Choose Eva the Owlet season 2.
Viewers who prefer to binge should note that Severance season 2 and Prime Target used weekly rollouts. Their January premiere dates marked the start of each season, not the date on which every episode became available.

This list covers series or seasons whose first episode or season premiere was scheduled between January 1 and January 31, 2025. It excludes films, one-off specials, trailers, older catalog shows, and projects that were merely announced or promoted during January.
For example, Apple announced the animated children’s series Goldie in January, but its premiere was scheduled for February 14, 2025, so it was not a January release. The distinction matters: January announcements are not necessarily January streaming premieres.
Apple’s dates describe its announced global Apple TV+ premieres. Local availability, ratings, subtitles, dubbing, and exact release timing can vary by country or region. Apple TV+ shows are available through the Apple TV app and supported web, television, streaming-device, and game-console platforms; viewers do not need Apple hardware specifically. Check Apple’s official Apple TV+ page for current service availability and pricing, since those details can change.
