Disney+’s U.S. movie-length additions in May 2024 included seven titles: catalog films such as Fantastic Mr. Fox and Marvel’s Daredevil, music documentaries and concert films, and Disney+ documentaries about The Beach Boys and Jim Henson. This list covers titles scheduled for the standalone U.S. Disney+ catalog—not every new episode, series, short, or Hulu release visible through some Disney+ plans.
Release schedules can change, and Disney+ libraries vary by country. The dates below reflect the official Disney+ May 2024 schedule and a contemporaneous U.S. release calendar.

The strongest description is seven movie-length additions. That count uses a broad definition that includes feature documentaries, concert films, and the movie-length Billy & Molly, which may also be labeled a documentary special rather than a conventional feature.

The 2003 Daredevil film starring Ben Affleck was listed as a May 1 addition to the U.S. Disney+ catalog. It is a licensed catalog title, not a new Disney+ Original.

May 3: Fantastic Mr. Fox
Wes Anderson’s 2009 stop-motion adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox arrived on May 3. The animated film follows the clever Mr. Fox as he risks his family’s safety while outwitting three determined farmers.
This is another catalog addition rather than a Disney+ Original. It is also distinct from Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, which appeared on the surrounding schedule as a six-episode animated series.

Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story is a National Geographic documentary about Billy Mail, his wife Susan, their sheepdog Jade, and Molly, a wild otter taken in by the couple in Scotland’s Shetland Islands.

Because it is presented as a documentary special or premiere in some listings, its exact format classification can vary. It belongs on a movie-length watchlist, but calling it a conventional narrative feature would be misleading.
May 8: The Beatles: Let It Be
Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s 1970 documentary The Beatles: Let It Be premiered on Disney+ on May 8, 2024. Disney said the film had not been available for more than 50 years before its streaming release.
The restored film draws on footage from The Beatles’ January 1969 studio sessions and rooftop concert. Its release also complements The Beatles: Get Back, Peter Jackson’s documentary series. Jackson’s Park Road Post Production team restored Let It Be.
Some general release listings gave an earlier date, but Disney’s official announcement confirms May 8, 2024. See the Disney+ announcement for Let It Be for the date and restoration details.
May 15: Queen Rock Montreal
Queen Rock Montreal is a restored concert film documenting Queen’s performances at Montreal’s Forum on November 24 and 25, 1981. It arrived on Disney+ on May 15.
This is best treated as a concert film, not a narrative feature. The same date also involved IMAX Enhanced sound upgrades for selected Marvel movies. Those were presentation updates to existing catalog titles, not new movie additions, so they are not counted here.
May 24: The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys is a Disney+ documentary directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny. It combines archival material with new interviews involving Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, and other music-industry figures.
The documentary premiered on May 24. Its soundtrack was also released that day, but an audio soundtrack is not a movie and is excluded from the release count. Disney’s official announcement confirms the premiere date and documentary details.

May 31: Jim Henson Idea Man
Ron Howard’s Jim Henson Idea Man premiered on Disney+ on May 31. The documentary explores Henson’s life and career through personal archives, including home movies, photographs, sketches, and diaries.
It covers Henson’s work on Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. It is the month’s other major Disney+ documentary Original alongside The Beach Boys. Details and the release date were confirmed in Disney’s announcement.

No. May’s list was a mixture of catalog additions and new documentary or concert releases:

- Disney+ documentary Originals: The Beach Boys and Jim Henson Idea Man.
Disney’s press materials emphasize the documentary premieres, while the broader U.S. schedule also includes older licensed library titles. Therefore, “coming to Disney+” should not be read as “new Disney-produced movie.”

What is not included in the movie list?
Disney+ added substantial television programming during May, but those releases do not belong in a movie calendar. Examples include:
- Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, an animated series released May 4.
- Monsters at Work Season 2.
- New episodes of Doctor Who on May 10, 17, 24, and 31.
- Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of X-Men ’97, a documentary special rather than a conventional feature film.
- Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted Season 4.
Short-form specials, episodes, trailers, soundtracks, and format upgrades are likewise excluded from the seven-title total.
Best May 2024 picks by audience
- For music fans: The Beatles: Let It Be, The Beach Boys, and Queen Rock Montreal.
- For families: Fantastic Mr. Fox.
- For Muppets and animation fans: Jim Henson Idea Man.
- For nature-documentary viewers: Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story.
- For superhero catalog viewing: Marvel’s Daredevil.
These are audience-fit suggestions, not rankings. The month’s movie schedule was notably focused on documentaries, music, and catalog programming rather than a large slate of new blockbuster features.
What about Hulu movies in the Disney+ app?
U.S. Disney+ subscribers with access to the Hulu content hub could see some Hulu programming through Disney+, but Hulu releases should not automatically be merged into the core Disney+ list. Access depended on the subscriber’s plan, hub availability, and licensing.
The separate May 2024 Hulu schedule included films such as Prom Dates, Ferrari, Eileen, and Paddington. Those titles may be relevant to Disney Bundle or Hulu subscribers, but they were not standalone Disney+ additions for the purposes of this calendar. Disney+ is available at disneyplus.com, while Hulu is available at hulu.com.
Availability note
This is a historical U.S. release guide for May 2024. Older licensed films can leave a streaming service, and Disney+ catalogs differ by country. The contemporaneous schedule also warned that its listings could change and might not be complete. Accordingly, the list establishes what was announced or listed for that month; it does not promise that every title remains available today.
