Everand is Scribd Inc.’s subscription app for audiobooks, ebooks, podcasts and Everand Originals. It replaced the audiobook-and-ebook service many readers remember as Scribd, while the current Scribd brand is now a separate, document-focused service. Everand advertises more than 1.5 million audiobooks and ebooks, but access combines monthly unlocks with a much smaller catalog of titles available without an unlock. It is a rental subscription, not a way to permanently own everything you read or hear.
What Everand is—and how it relates to Scribd
Scribd Inc. is the parent company behind Everand, Scribd, SlideShare and Fable. Everand handles consumer reading and listening content; Scribd is a separate document platform. The two services can use the same login, but they require separate subscriptions. A card statement showing “Scribd Inc.” can therefore represent an Everand charge rather than a Scribd document subscription. See Everand’s getting-started guide and Scribd Inc.’s company overview.

The catalog figures are Everand’s advertised claims, not an independently audited count. Availability can change by country and over time.

Audiobooks and ebooks
Everand combines both formats in one service, with playback and reading tools, recommendations and curated collections. A title page determines whether a complete book is available without an unlock, requires an unlock, or is only available as a preview. The 1.5-million-plus headline does not mean every title is available for unlimited monthly use, and it does not guarantee that a particular bestseller or new release is included.

Podcasts, Originals and Fable
The service also carries podcasts and Everand Originals. Everand plans include Fable reading-community features, and Everand activity can update Fable with reading progress, saved books, lists and streaks. Fable is a companion social-reading service, not proof that every Fable feature or book is part of Everand’s catalog. Details are in Scribd Inc.’s Everand-and-Fable announcement.
How Everand unlocks work
- Find an eligible audiobook or ebook.
- Spend one monthly unlock on that title.
- Read or listen to the full title while your subscription remains active.
- Use other unlocks included in your plan, or choose titles marked as available without an unlock.
- Receive new unlocks on your billing date, not necessarily on the first day of the calendar month.
An unlock is not a purchase, ownership right or permanent download. After the plan’s monthly unlocks are used, you can continue with the curated unlimited selection or wait for the next billing date. The mechanics are documented at How unlocks work on Everand.
Current US plans
These are US web prices observed on August 18, 2026. Taxes, app-store billing, promotions, country and future price changes can alter the amount.

| Plan | Price | Monthly unlocks | Practical fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $11.99/month | 1 | One premium title most months, with unlimited titles filling the rest |
| Plus | $16.99/month | 3 | Regular readers or listeners who can use three premium titles |
| Deluxe | $28.99/month | 5 | High-volume users who consistently need five eligible titles |
If every unlock is used, the pre-tax arithmetic is about $11.99 per unlock on Standard, $5.66 on Plus and $5.80 on Deluxe. Those figures describe monthly access, not permanent ownership. The former Legacy plan is not part of the current structure. See Everand’s plan documentation.
Which plan should you choose?
- Standard: Choose it when one unlock normally covers your premium reading and the unlimited selection covers additional use.
- Plus: Choose it when you expect to use all three unlocks in most billing cycles.
- Deluxe: Choose it only when five unlocks are regularly useful; otherwise its higher fee is difficult to justify.
Inspect your intended titles before subscribing. Catalog status matters more than the overall catalog-size claim.

- Install Everand and sign in to the active account.
- Open the audiobook or ebook.
- Select the download control.
- Open the title from the app while offline.
Downloads are encrypted app access, not portable files. A downloaded title may still require an unlock, and cancellation or expiration makes previously downloaded books inaccessible until the subscription is restored. Verify downloads before a flight or other period without reliable connectivity. The support instructions are at How to download books for offline access.

Everand currently advertises a 30-day trial when you subscribe through its website and a seven-day trial through the US Apple App Store. Offers include the service and one free title or unlock subject to the specific offer. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. Record the renewal date and cancel through the same channel used to subscribe; an App Store subscription is managed in Apple’s subscription settings. Current terms are described at About your free trial on Everand.
Cancellation does not turn unlocked or downloaded books into owned copies. Access continues only for the paid period, after which the titles and offline downloads stop functioning.
Is Everand worth paying for?
Good fit
- You use both ebooks and audiobooks.
- You finish at least one book, and preferably several, each month.
- You accept subscription access instead of ownership.
- Your desired titles are confirmed as unlimited or unlock-eligible.
- You value offline use, cross-device reading and Fable features.
Weak fit
- You want a permanent audiobook or ebook library, DRM-free files or playback outside the app.
- You consume more premium audiobooks than your monthly unlock allowance.
- You mainly want one specific bestseller and it is not in the unlimited section.
- You already borrow most books free through a participating library.
Everand compared with alternatives
| Service | Best for | Key difference from Everand |
|---|---|---|
| Audible | Audiobook-first listeners who want lasting library access | US plans currently list Standard at $8.99/month for one selection, Premium at $14.95/month for one credit, and Premium two-credit at $22.95/month. Premium credits place redeemed audiobooks in the member’s library, unlike Everand unlocks. See Audible Premium help, Standard help and membership benefits. |
| Libby | Readers with a participating public-library card | Typically no subscription fee, but holds, loan periods, eligibility and catalog vary by library. See Libby. |
| Libro.fm | Buy-and-keep audiobook customers supporting independent bookstores | Ownership-oriented audiobook purchases, not an ebook-and-audiobook rental catalog. See Libro.fm. |
| Kindle Unlimited | Kindle-focused ebook readers | Ebook-first and not a like-for-like replacement for Everand’s combined format offering. See Kindle Unlimited. |
Bottom line
Everand is best understood as a mixed ebook-and-audiobook rental subscription: a broad unlock catalog plus a smaller unlimited catalog. It is compelling for frequent, mixed-format readers who do not need to keep every title. Choose Audible, Libro.fm or purchases elsewhere when permanent ownership matters; check Libby first when free library borrowing is available.
