Maxthon Cloud Browser is the older name many people still search for. The current product is branded Maxthon Browser. Download it from Maxthon’s official platform page: https://www.maxthon.com/download/. Avoid third-party “free download” portals and old installers labeled Cloud Browser unless Maxthon itself links to them.
Official Maxthon downloads
The versions shown on Maxthon’s download page include separate packages for Windows editions and processor architectures. Version numbers can change, so confirm the live page before installing.

To check your Windows architecture, open Settings > System > About and read System type. A 64-bit installer is not suitable for every Windows computer, and a current Windows 10-and-later package may refuse to install on Windows 7 or 8.

Install Maxthon on Windows
- Open Maxthon’s official download page.
- Under Windows, select the entry matching your Windows generation and architecture.
- Choose Desktop for a normal installation or Portable for a self-contained copy.
- Save the installer or archive from the Maxthon domain.
- Open it and follow the installation prompts.
- Launch Maxthon and verify that its version matches the package you selected.
- If offered, choose whether to import bookmarks, passwords, history and settings from another browser.
- Make Maxthon the default browser only if you want that change.
Install Maxthon on macOS
- Open the official download page and select macOS.
- Open the downloaded Mac installer and follow macOS’s instructions.
- If macOS blocks the app, first confirm that it came from the official Maxthon domain. Then use macOS’s approved security controls to allow the verified app.
- Launch Maxthon and optionally set it as your default browser.
Install Maxthon on Android
Use the official Google Play listing: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mx.browser. The listing names the app Maxthon Browser, retains “Maxthon Cloud Browser” in descriptive text, reports more than 10 million downloads and shows an update date of June 29, 2026 in the cited listing.
- Open the Play Store page.
- Confirm the app name and developer before installing.
- Tap Install.
- Review permissions and the Play Store data-safety section.
- Open Maxthon and sign in only if you want synchronization or other account features.
Do not treat an APK from an unrelated download site as the default installation method. If a Play Store installation is unavailable, check your Android version, region and storage before considering any manual install.
Install Maxthon on iPhone or iPad
- Open the official Apple listing at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maxthon-browser/id541052011.
- Confirm that the seller is Maxthon Technology Limited.
- Check that the device runs iOS 15.0 or later or iPadOS 15.0 or later.
- Tap Get and authenticate with Apple.
- Open the app and decide whether to use it as the default browser where your device supports that option.
Maxthon’s download page currently points to TestFlight for iOS, while the App Store listing remains a separate official route. Check which route is offered for your region and device.

Stable release or beta?
Use the ordinary download page for the stable browser. Maxthon’s beta channel is at https://www.maxthon.com/en/beta/; the listed Windows beta was 7.5.2.8200, with separate macOS and Android beta packages. Beta builds may contain pre-release features and bugs, so they are better suited to testing than everyday or mission-critical use. Keep important bookmarks and other browser data backed up before switching.
Is Maxthon Cloud Browser still available?
“Maxthon Cloud Browser” is a legacy or commonly searched name, not the primary current branding on Maxthon’s website. The current site calls the product Maxthon Browser, while the Android description still uses the older wording. A third-party site may therefore offer an obsolete release under the Cloud Browser name. The current official download page is the safer source.
What Maxthon advertises
Maxthon describes its browser as Chromium-based and available on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Advertised capabilities include:

These are product claims, not independent performance tests. Availability can vary by operating system, release channel, account, region and edition. The Android description additionally emphasizes data saving, offline reading, smart image display and built-in notes; those mobile features should not be assumed to work identically on desktop.
Privacy and security considerations
Marketing terms such as “private,” “secure” and “anti-IP tracking” are not independent guarantees. Incognito mode mainly limits browsing data saved locally; it does not hide activity from websites, internet providers, employers or network administrators. A VPN can change how traffic is routed, but it does not make a user automatically anonymous or remove the need to trust the provider.
Google Play’s data-safety disclosure says the Android app may share location, app-performance information and device IDs with third parties, and says data is encrypted in transit. Apple’s listing reports the developer’s statement that no data is collected, while noting that Apple has not verified that statement. These disclosures differ by platform and can change.

Before enabling synchronization, cloud notes, Passkeeper, VPN or AI features, review the permissions and privacy information presented for your device and account. Cloud services also create a data-trust decision that is separate from simply browsing locally.

The installer reports an architecture error
- Check whether Windows is 32-bit, 64-bit or ARM.
- Download the matching official package.
- Do not assume the 64-bit installer works on every Windows machine.
The current installer will not run on Windows 7 or 8
Use Maxthon’s separate Windows 7/8 build. It is a compatibility release and may not have feature parity with the Windows 10-and-later version. Upgrading Windows or choosing a browser with clearly documented support may be safer for an unsupported computer.

You installed a beta by mistake
Back up important bookmarks and data, remove or replace the beta, and install the stable package from https://www.maxthon.com/download/. Keep stable and beta profiles separate where possible.

A download contains extra software or redirects
Cancel the installation, delete the package, run a security scan and obtain Maxthon from Maxthon’s domain or the official Apple or Google store. Avoid generic mirrors unless Maxthon identifies them as official.
A mobile installation is unavailable
Check the device operating-system version, regional availability and free storage. Use the official store listing rather than an unverified APK or IPA. On iOS, check whether the current official route is the App Store or TestFlight.
An old Maxthon page shows a different version
Maxthon’s older page at https://www.maxthon.com/mx5download/ can show different version data. Use the primary download page as the current reference instead of relying on the older page alone.

Maxthon is a sensible fit if you want broad platform coverage, portable Windows packages, a separate Windows 7/8 build, built-in notes and synchronization, password tools or a highly customizable Chromium-based interface. It is a weaker fit if you require independently verified privacy leadership, the largest mainstream support ecosystem, minimal bundled features or guaranteed feature parity across devices.
Consider these alternatives according to your priority:
- Brave: built-in ad and tracker blocking; download from https://brave.com/download/.
- Firefox: a non-Chromium engine and Mozilla ecosystem; download from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/.
- Chrome: Google account integration and broad compatibility; see https://www.google.com/chrome/.
- Edge: Windows and Microsoft-service integration; see https://www.microsoft.com/edge/.
For most readers, the best choice is the stable build from Maxthon’s official download page, matched to the device’s operating system and architecture. Use portable or Windows 7/8 packages only when that specific compatibility need applies, and use beta only for deliberate testing.
