The most useful collection is 9to5Mac’s iPhone 15 wallpaper download. Open the individual image, save the full-resolution file to Photos, then apply it through the current iOS wallpaper settings.
Download the original iPhone 15 wallpaper collections
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
The standard models use color-associated artwork matching the five finishes Apple announced for the September 12, 2023 launch: pink, yellow, green, blue and black. The same collection is intended for both the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus.
Download the images from the 9to5Mac collection. The page is a secondary publication source presenting the original launch artwork, not an Apple-hosted download portal.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
The Pro phones have a separate titanium-themed collection associated with black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium and natural titanium. The 9to5Mac page also includes alternative Pro variants reported for different Lock Screen and Home Screen states. Choose the version that leaves enough quiet space for the clock and icons.

Do not describe either collection as an “official Apple download” merely because the artwork originated with Apple. Apple has not maintained a dedicated public iPhone 15 launch-wallpaper download page.
Independent archives and alternatives
AppleWalls’ iPhone archive is useful for browsing built-in Apple wallpaper generations, but it is an independent site. Its about page explains the archive’s status. Check the file dimensions and provenance before saving.
For non-stock designs, look for clearly labeled abstract, color-matched, minimalist or fan-made “internals” wallpapers. Keep fan art and AI-generated images separate from Apple’s launch artwork, and retain the creator’s attribution where required.
Choose the right file for your iPhone 15 model

Apple lists these point and pixel sizes in its Human Interface Guidelines layout reference. The 15 and 15 Pro share dimensions, as do the 15 Plus and Pro Max, so files are generally interchangeable by size within those pairs. The artwork remains different by collection.

These dimensions are a practical minimum, not a requirement for an exact match. A larger portrait image can be cropped; a smaller one may become soft when enlarged. A file labeled “4K” is not automatically better if it has the wrong aspect ratio or heavy compression.
Save a full-resolution wallpaper on iPhone
- Open the download page in Safari.
- Tap the desired wallpaper, then tap the image again if Safari first shows an article preview or thumbnail.
- Press and hold the full-resolution image.
- Choose Save to Photos. If Safari offers only a Files location, save it to Files and use the share sheet to move or import it into Photos.
- Open Photos and verify that the image is present. If the source provides dimensions, confirm that you downloaded the original file rather than a small preview.
Saving the image itself matters: a screenshot of a webpage captures the interface and usually has fewer pixels than the source.
Set the image as your wallpaper (current iOS 26 path)
- Open Settings.
- Tap Wallpaper, then Add New Wallpaper.
- Tap Photos and select the downloaded image.
- Tap Add.
- Choose Set as Wallpaper Pair to use it on both screens, or choose Customize Home Screen for a different Home Screen image, color or blur.
Apple documents this flow in its Change your iPhone wallpaper guide. Labels can differ on older iOS releases, but the Settings → Wallpaper route is the most stable starting point.
Use the Lock Screen gallery
Touch and hold the Lock Screen, swipe through existing wallpapers or tap the Add button, and select the photo. If Face ID does not open the gallery, touch and hold again and enter the passcode.

Crop the image for the Lock Screen and Home Screen
The iPhone 15 family uses a tall 19.5:9 display. iOS may enlarge or reposition a photo automatically, so composition is as important as pixel count.
- Keep faces, text and fine detail away from the top-center Dynamic Island area.
- Leave breathing room around the Lock Screen clock and widgets.
- Keep the main subject near the center because the editor may shift the edges when it fills the screen.
- Test the Lock Screen and Home Screen separately; icons can obscure detail that is clear behind the clock.
- In the preview, pinch inward or outward and drag the image until the subject is positioned correctly.
- Avoid depth or spatial effects when they interfere with the design, and start with a correctly sized portrait file instead of a screenshot.
A less detailed or darker variant often works better behind Home Screen icons. Pro variants supplied by the launch collection can be useful when one version is too busy for both screens.
Troubleshoot common download and wallpaper problems
The saved image looks blurry
You probably saved a thumbnail, screenshot or recompressed mirror. Reopen the source image itself, save the full-resolution file, and compare its dimensions with the table above. Avoid pop-up-heavy mirrors and pages that force an app or executable download.
Safari saved an unexpected file type
If the image lands in Files as WebP or another format and does not appear in Photos, use the original image link or convert it to JPEG or PNG before importing. Conversion can reduce quality, so use it only when the source format is not accepted by your workflow.

The wallpaper is zoomed or tightly cropped
Select the matching 1179 × 2556 file for an iPhone 15 or 15 Pro, or the 1290 × 2796 file for a Plus or Pro Max. Then pinch to zoom out and reposition it in the preview. A landscape image will require more aggressive cropping.
The clock covers important artwork
Choose a composition with open space in the upper third, move the image in the editor, or use a simpler Home Screen version. Do not place text directly beneath the clock.
The original disappeared from Settings
Apple can reorganize built-in wallpaper collections after an iOS update. Download the image again, save it to Photos and add it through Add New Wallpaper → Photos. A downloaded still image may not reproduce system-level animation, filters or other behavior of an integrated Apple wallpaper.

The launch files available as ordinary JPEG or PNG images are static. They do not automatically include an animated or interactive system version. Apple’s current support documentation says iPhone 12 and later on iOS 26 can turn certain eligible photos into 3D spatial wallpapers, primarily on the Lock Screen; eligibility depends on the photo and the feature, not on the name “iPhone 15 wallpaper.”

If you need motion, use a supported Live Photo or iOS feature from a compatible source. Do not assume that downloading a still launch image preserves the behavior of the wallpaper that shipped on a phone.
Use the wallpaper on another phone
As an image file, an iPhone 15 wallpaper can generally be saved and applied on another compatible iPhone or on Android. Expect to reposition or crop it on devices with different aspect ratios, especially iPhone mini models or older phones. Keep the standard and Pro collections correctly labeled so a titanium design is not presented as a standard iPhone 15 finish.
Copyright and safe sharing
Apple’s wallpapers are Apple-created artwork, while fan-made alternatives can have separate owners. Personal device use is different from selling a wallpaper bundle, placing the artwork in advertising, or redistributing it as your own work. Because rights vary by jurisdiction and use, avoid a definitive legal conclusion: link to the original source, credit independent creators and do not rehost large collections when a direct link is available.
Optional sources for more than the launch set
Apple’s WWDC26 wallpaper page offers downloadable Apple artwork for current events, but it is not an iPhone 15 launch-wallpaper archive. Wallpaper apps can provide customization, automation and community designs, yet they add installation, advertising or subscription friction when all you need is one free image. For the original iPhone 15 files, a direct full-resolution download remains the simpler option.
