Free Fire 1.106.1 and Free Fire MAX 2.106.1 are historical builds, not the current 2026 releases. Free Fire MAX 2.106.1 is documented in Apple’s version history as an April 9, 2024 release, while the current official listings have moved to much newer versions. The safest choice for normal play is to install the current edition from Google Play, Google Play for Free Fire MAX, or the Apple App Store.
Do not treat an APK mirror as automatically safe. An authentic old file may still be rejected by Garena’s servers, lack required resources, conflict with a newer installation, or expose your account to a modified client.

Yes. Apple’s Free Fire MAX version history records version 2.106.1 on April 9, 2024. Its release notes mention Mini Peak in Battle Royale and Clash Squad, first-person perspective in Clash Squad, Cosmic Racer, the Kassie character, and Gunsmith and weapon-attribute display updates.

That confirms 2.106.1 was a genuine historical version. It does not make it current: the same App Store listing now shows version 2.130.1.

Free Fire 1.106.1
The label “1.106.1” may refer to an Android app or build label from the same 2024 update cycle, but the available official sources do not provide a current public Garena APK archive confirming that exact Android package. It is therefore not responsible to present a third-party file with that name as an official download.
Be careful with version terminology:
- App version: the number shown by a store or app listing.
- OB update number: a game update label used in patch notes.
- APK versionCode: an internal Android build number that may be shown by a mirror.
- Server version: the client level required to connect and play.
These numbers are not necessarily interchangeable. A file can have a convincing name and still be incomplete, repackaged, or unable to connect to current servers.
Official download links for the current editions
For ordinary play, use an authorized store rather than an old APK mirror. Garena identifies Google Play, Apple’s App Store, Huawei AppGallery, Xiaomi App Store, and OPPO App Market among its authorized channels, although availability varies by region. - Open the official Free Fire Google Play listing.
- Confirm that the package is
com.dts.freefirethand that the developer information matches the official listing. - Tap Install or Update.
- Let the game download its additional resources before judging whether it works.
- Sign in using the account method already linked to your game account.
The current Google Play listing is far newer than 1.106.1 and was updated on June 26, 2026.

Android: Free Fire MAX
- Open the official Free Fire MAX Google Play listing.
- Confirm that it is the MAX edition and uses package
com.dts.freefiremax. - Tap Install or Update.
- Keep the app open while its in-game resources finish downloading.
Google Play lists Free Fire MAX for Android and Windows and shows a June 16, 2026 update. Free Fire and Free Fire MAX are separate applications; do not install a random file labelled “MAX” over the standard package.
iPhone and iPad
APK files are Android packages and cannot be installed on iOS. Use the official Free Fire MAX App Store listing instead. The U.S. listing identifies Garena International I Private Limited as the seller and requires iOS 13 or later. Store availability can differ by country.
Can you manually install an old APK?
Manual installation is reasonable only for a legitimate archival, compatibility-testing, or documented preservation purpose. It is not a reliable way to obtain current multiplayer access. Do not provide your account credentials to an APK site, and do not use files promising unlimited diamonds, unlocked skins, anti-ban protection, or mod menus.

- Back up important device data and verify that your game account is securely linked before changing installations.
- Check the package name:
com.dts.freefirethfor Free Fire orcom.dts.freefiremaxfor Free Fire MAX. - Check the file’s provenance and, where possible, compare its signing certificate with the legitimate publisher’s certificate.
- Scan the file with a trusted mobile-security tool.
- If Android requires it, allow installation from unknown sources only for the specific browser or file manager being used.
- Install only the complete, unmodified package. Some distributions use split APK components or additional resource files.
- Disable the unknown-source permission again immediately afterward.
- Remove the file if it requests suspicious permissions, redirects to unrelated pages, installs extra packages, or reports that the client is modified.
Garena’s game-security guidance prohibits unauthorized third-party programs and modified clients. Do not bypass signature checks, anti-cheat protections, or server controls.
Why an old APK may install but still fail
Installation and playability are different tests. A genuine old build may install successfully and still be unusable because:
- Current servers require a newer client.
- The old package needs resource files that are no longer available.
- The download is a split APK with missing components.
- The file targets a different CPU architecture.
- Existing data from a newer version conflicts with the downgrade.
- Android blocks a downgrade because the installed version has a higher version code.
- The file belongs to a different regional edition, server, or login system.
- The client has been modified or tampered with.
- Google Play updates it automatically.
Authenticity alone does not guarantee server access, current events, compatible login services, or preserved account data.

“App not installed”
Common causes include a blocked downgrade, insufficient storage, a corrupt APK, missing split components, the wrong CPU architecture, or a package conflict.

- Confirm the package name and free sufficient storage.
- Check whether another edition or regional package is already installed.
- If you must remove an existing app, first verify that the account is linked and understand that local app data may be lost.
- Prefer reinstalling the current official version from Google Play.
Do not disable Android security checks or use a modified installer to force the installation.
“Parse error”
The file may be corrupt, incomplete, incompatible with the Android version, the wrong architecture, or not an APK at all. A fake download can even be an HTML page renamed with an APK extension. Redownload from the official store, check the file type, and avoid sites that require an unknown installer, browser extension, or password.
The game opens but cannot log in
The old client may be rejected by current servers, or the problem may involve a region mismatch, temporary outage, wrong login provider, missing resources, or a modified client. Update through the official store, use the original linked login method, and contact Garena Support rather than creating another account to test an unknown APK.
“Device incompatible”
Check the Android version, available storage, RAM, and device architecture. Update Android and Google Play services where the device supports it. If MAX is too demanding, the standard edition may be a better fit, but an old APK is not a guaranteed or safe workaround.

Download stuck or resources fail
Check the connection, free storage, battery-saving restrictions, and available permissions. Restart the device and retry from the official store or in-game downloader. Avoid replacing resource files with downloads from unofficial sites.

They are separate Android applications, not interchangeable names for one APK:

MAX may have different performance and storage demands. Choose the edition you intend to use and check its official listing rather than downloading the first APK that appears in search results.
Requirements: useful baseline, not a guarantee
Garena’s published requirements page lists a minimum baseline of Android 4.4, a dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and at least 1.5 GB of storage. Its recommended configuration is Android 7, an octa-core 1.8 GHz CPU, 3 GB of RAM, and at least 3 GB of storage.
That guidance was published in 2021. Current builds may require more storage, graphics capability, or newer system support. These figures do not guarantee smooth performance, successful installation, or server compatibility. Check the current store listing and your device’s compatibility before downloading.
Why third-party Free Fire APK downloads are risky
- Malware: a repackaged game can contain spyware, adware, or credential-stealing code.
- Account theft: fake login screens and “diamond” offers can capture account details.
- Modified clients: cheats and altered files can violate Garena’s rules and lead to penalties.
- Incomplete downloads: missing split packages or resources can cause installation and login failures.
- Outdated clients: an old build may be blocked even when it is genuine.
- Regional mismatch: an APK may connect to a different edition or use unsupported services.
Never install a file that promises free diamonds, anti-ban status, unlocked paid content, improved graphics through a mod menu, or a way around Garena’s security. Garena’s anti-hack guidance and security FAQ are the relevant authority for prohibited software and download channels.

Free Fire MAX 2.106.1 was a real April 2024 release, but it is obsolete in 2026. Free Fire 1.106.1 should not be advertised as a confirmed current official APK without a primary Garena or Android record. For reliable play, install the current Free Fire or Free Fire MAX listing from an authorized store. Use an old APK only for a legitimate archival purpose, after checking its provenance and accepting that it may not install, may not connect, and may create security or account risks.
