For most people searching for “EVGA Precision X,” the correct download is EVGA Precision X1. Use EVGA’s official software page or its official ZIP endpoint: EVGA_Precision_X1_1.3.7.0.zip. EVGA’s clearly identified X1 release is version 1.3.7.0, dated October 21, 2022.
Precision XOC and PrecisionX 16 are older, separate products—not interchangeable names for X1. EVGA says XOC is no longer in development, while PrecisionX 16 dates back to 2016. Check your GPU and Windows version before installing, and download only from an EVGA domain.

Start at EVGA’s software page. It currently exposes the Precision X1 download link and lists the utility’s features.
If the page control does not work, EVGA’s link points to this official endpoint:

That is an official EVGA ZIP URL. The archive should not be confused with an independently verified installer filename or checksum. Avoid cracked installers, file-host mirrors, search advertisements, and download portals that do not resolve to an EVGA domain.
EVGA’s X1 page identifies support for GeForce RTX, GTX 16-series, and GTX 10-series cards. Its published requirements list Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit. Those requirements are old and do not amount to a current, explicit Windows 11 support guarantee, so treat Windows 11 compatibility as uncertain.
How to install Precision X1
- Identify your hardware. Confirm the GPU model, manufacturer, Windows edition and architecture, and whether you need EVGA RGB or other card-specific controls. Windows Device Manager, NVIDIA Control Panel, or a system-information utility can show the GPU model.
- Download from EVGA. Use the software page or the official ZIP endpoint above. Confirm that the address is on
evga.com. - Extract the ZIP. Save the archive locally and extract it into a new folder.
- Run the included setup program. The exact executable name may vary inside the archive. Accept the license terms only after confirming the source.
- Restart if requested. A restart can help the utility detect the GPU and load its monitoring components correctly.
- Launch Precision X1. Confirm that the correct GPU appears before changing clocks, voltage, power limits, or fan behavior.
Precision X1 is a tuning utility, not a graphics driver. For the current GeForce driver, use NVIDIA’s driver download process; EVGA’s download center directs users to NVIDIA for the latest graphics drivers.
What Precision X1 does
EVGA lists Precision X1 as a GPU tuning and monitoring application with features including:
- GPU clock, memory-clock, and voltage controls
- Custom fan control and fan curves
- Real-time hardware monitoring
- In-game on-screen display
- Profiles with hotkeys
- Multi-GPU fan control
- OC Scanner for automated tuning
- RGB LED control for compatible EVGA graphics cards and NVLink Bridges
- Real-time wattage monitoring on supported EVGA cards
Not every feature is available on every card. EVGA-specific RGB and card controls are most relevant when the graphics card itself is an EVGA model. Laptop and OEM GPUs can also restrict fan, voltage, or power controls through firmware.
Use it safely the first time
Do not begin by applying an automatic overclock. Establish a known-good baseline first:

- Confirm that the correct GPU is detected.
- Save the default settings or profile.
- Change only one control at a time.
- Test stability after each change using the applications and games you normally run.
- Reset the profile immediately if the system becomes unstable.
A higher clock is not guaranteed to produce a particular FPS improvement. Results depend on the GPU, cooling, power limits, game, driver, and stability margin. Overclocking can also create crashes, artifacts, excess heat, or driver resets; do not assume it is covered by a warranty.

Leave “start with Windows” disabled until a profile has been tested thoroughly. Otherwise, an unstable setting may be applied automatically at every boot.
Precision XOC and PrecisionX 16: legacy downloads
Precision XOC
EVGA’s Precision XOC page identifies version 6.2.7 as the latest XOC release and states that XOC is no longer in development. EVGA directs users toward Precision X1 as the current development version. XOC may be relevant for older GeForce hardware, but it should not be presented as the current EVGA Precision download.
EVGA also notes that full functionality requires an EVGA card. If you use a non-EVGA card, a cross-brand utility is usually a better choice.

PrecisionX 16 is older still. Its version history identifies version 5.3.11, released April 12, 2016, with listed support for Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, and Vista and hardware including GeForce GTX TITAN and the 900-, 700-, and 600-series. The page shows an EVGA login requirement for downloading.

Use PrecisionX 16 only when a particularly old card or system requires it. It is not a sensible default for a modern installation.
When the EVGA download page redirects or fails
EVGA’s X1 and XOC landing pages may redirect to the EVGA homepage, and older download controls may not behave consistently. Try this recovery path:
- Open the current EVGA software page rather than relying on an old bookmarked landing page.
- If the Precision X1 link is visible, use it.
- If the control fails, use the official ZIP endpoint listed above.
- Try a current browser with extensions temporarily disabled.
- Do not switch to an unofficial mirror simply because the EVGA button fails.
If the software is unavailable, incompatible, or too old for your setup, MSI Afterburner is the practical alternative.

- Confirm that the card is a supported NVIDIA GeForce family.
- Check whether it is an EVGA card if you expect EVGA-specific controls.
- Install the NVIDIA graphics driver and restart Windows.
- Close other GPU-tuning utilities that may be controlling clocks, voltage, or fans.
- Check whether the card is a laptop or OEM model with firmware restrictions.
Avoid running multiple utilities with overlapping controls unless you know which application has priority.

Fixes for fan-control problems
Fan control may be unavailable because the card does not expose software control, firmware limits the behavior, another utility is overriding the curve, or the old X1 build does not cooperate with the GPU or driver. Restore automatic fan control before uninstalling software or changing firmware.
What to do after a crash or artifacting
- Click Reset in Precision X1 if the interface is still responsive.
- Close the application and reboot Windows.
- Disable automatic startup for the tuning profile.
- Return to default GPU settings.
- If problems continue, reinstall or update the NVIDIA driver.
Do not treat VBIOS or firmware flashing as a normal troubleshooting step. It carries substantially more risk than resetting a software profile.
When MSI Afterburner is the better choice
MSI Afterburner is free and, according to MSI, works with graphics cards from all brands. MSI’s page lists version 4.6.6 Final from October 2025 and 4.6.7 Beta from February 2026. It includes GPU and VRAM frequency controls, voltage and power limits, fan curves, hardware monitoring, OC Scanner, and an in-game OSD.

It will not provide EVGA-specific RGB or proprietary card controls in the same way as Precision X1.
For Afterburner’s in-game OSD, MSI says that RivaTuner Statistics Server must also be installed and running. The installer may offer it, or MSI’s guide points users to obtain it separately through Guru3D. MSI also warns users to download Afterburner only from MSI or Guru3D because fake download sites target the software.
