Don’t F**k With Paste is a free, open-source browser extension that can restore copy, cut, and paste on websites that deliberately block those browser events. It is available for Firefox and documented for Chrome, but it is not a universal fix: keyboard-shortcut interception, disabled context menus, iframes, custom form controls, and password-manager problems may require a different solution.
What Don’t F**k With Paste does
Websites can use JavaScript to cancel or replace normal copy, cut, and paste events. The result is familiar: Ctrl+V or Cmd+V appears to do nothing, a password field rejects pasted text, or a confirmation field forces you to retype an email address.
The extension targets that page-level interference. It is designed for normal web inputs such as password, email, payment, account-number, and text fields. It does not change your operating system clipboard or generally override the browser’s own security restrictions.

Is it still available?
Firefox: The official Mozilla Add-ons listing was still available on August 18, 2026. It listed version 2.7, about 10,840 users, and a 4.4/5 rating from 150 reviews. The listing also says the add-on is available for Firefox for Android. These store figures and compatibility details can change.
The same listing reported a last update date of August 22, 2020. That does not by itself prove the extension is unsafe or abandoned, but it is an important maintenance caveat.
Chrome: The original project is documented in the Chrome repository, which links to the current Chrome Web Store item. Use that repository link rather than an old URL copied from a third-party article. The currently documented store address is this Chrome Web Store listing. It may also work in Chromium-based browsers, but compatibility is not guaranteed for every browser or version.
Install and activate it in Chrome
- Open the official Chrome project repository.
- Follow its current Chrome Web Store link.
- Select Add to Chrome and confirm the installation.
- Open the website where pasting is blocked.
- Click the extension icon in the browser toolbar.
- Add or save the site pattern generated for the current tab.
- Confirm that the extension shows its active state. The project documentation describes the active icon as blue, although the exact appearance can vary with browser versions, themes, and toolbar layouts.
- Reload the page and test the affected field.
The Chrome project uses site-specific activation: the extension is intended to run on sites you add to its list, rather than automatically modifying every page.

Install and activate it in Firefox
- Open the official Firefox Add-ons page.
- Select Add to Firefox.
- Review and approve the requested permissions.
- Pin the extension to the toolbar if you want quicker access.
- Open the problem website and click the extension’s toolbar icon.
- Activate it for that site, then reload the page and try pasting again.
The Firefox listing says the add-on requires access to browser tabs and data for all websites. That describes the capability granted by Firefox; it is not, by itself, proof that the developer collects clipboard contents. Mozilla explains extension permission wording in its permission guidance.
What it cannot fix
Don’t F**k With Paste is not a universal paste unblocker. The Chrome project specifically documents limitations involving:
- Websites intercepting Ctrl+V, Cmd+V, or other keyboard shortcuts.
- Sites that disable or replace the right-click context menu.
- Clipboard handling inside an iframe.
It may also fail when the field is a custom application control rather than a standard HTML input or textarea. A page can receive the pasted value and then reject it because of formatting, validation, anti-fraud rules, whitespace, or hidden characters. Browser security restrictions, remote-desktop software, banking-security tools, accessibility software, and other extensions can interfere too.

- Check that the extension is active for the exact tab and website.
- Reload the page after activating it.
- Try the normal paste shortcut and the browser’s menu-based Paste command.
- Try the field’s context menu if the site still provides one.
- Test a plain text field on another website. If paste works there, the issue is probably site-specific.
- Consider whether the field is inside an iframe or is a custom control.
- Temporarily disable extensions that modify forms, passwords, privacy, accessibility, or keyboard input.
- For a single-page app, reload it or navigate away and back after enabling the extension.
- Remove the saved site pattern and add it again if the match is too narrow or malformed.
- Try a private window only if the extension has explicitly been allowed to run there.
If a password still will not paste
The extension may not be the relevant fix. The password manager might be targeting the wrong field, the site might be overwriting the value after input, or the field could be inside an iframe. A custom login control or browser security software may also be responsible.

Do not expose a real password just to test a field. Use a disposable value where possible, and consider the password manager’s native browser fill command. Native filling may avoid ordinary clipboard paste entirely, although unusual forms and frames can still defeat it.
If the page becomes unstable
Disable the extension for that site, remove the site from its list, and reload the page. Avoid leaving it active globally when only one website needs it.
Are the permissions safe?
The project has several reassuring characteristics: its source is public, the repositories identify an MIT license, and the extension is focused on page event handling rather than password storage. Site-specific activation can also reduce unnecessary access.

Firefox’s listing requests access to browser tabs and data for all websites, and the reported 2020 update date is old. Chrome’s permission wording can similarly sound broad because it describes what the extension is technically capable of accessing.

Make the decision using three separate questions:
- Permission scope: What access does the browser grant?
- Implemented behavior: What does the current published code appear to do?
- Trust: Are you comfortable installing an older extension with broad site-related permissions?
Check the current store privacy disclosure, repository activity, and source before installing—especially on a sensitive financial, enterprise, or managed device. No responsible conclusion should call the extension “completely safe” without a current code and privacy review.

Use the browser’s Paste command
If a site blocks the keyboard shortcut but not the browser command, use Edit → Paste where available in Chrome or Chromium, or Firefox’s browser menu or context-menu paste command. This will not help if the page blocks the underlying paste event or disables every available menu route, but it is the simplest first test.
Use the documented bookmarklet
The original Chrome project documents this advanced workaround:

The project warns that it does not prevent blocking inside iframes. Browsers also restrict JavaScript URLs in some contexts, and bookmarklets can be difficult to create and use safely, so this is not the default recommendation.

Consider a userscript cautiously
A related userscript is listed on Greasy Fork. Treat it as a separate project, not an official equivalent. Check its current maintainer, source, permissions, update history, and the requirements of the userscript manager before installing it.
Use password-manager-native filling
If the real need is reliable password entry, use the password manager’s native browser integration or fill control when possible. That approach may bypass ordinary paste behavior and is often a better long-term solution than overriding a website. It can still fail on custom fields, unusual forms, or iframes.
Who should use it?
It is worth trying when a standard web field clearly rejects copy and paste, the problem occurs repeatedly, and you are comfortable granting the extension’s permissions. It is less suitable when the browser or extension is badly out of date, the device handles highly sensitive financial or enterprise work, or the problem involves native apps, remote desktops, mobile apps, custom controls, or password-manager autofill rather than website clipboard events.
Paste blocking can be part of a site’s validation or anti-abuse design, but it can also obstruct password managers and encourage typing mistakes. Restore paste only when you understand the trade-off and still verify that the submitted value is correct.
