Yes, Sony’s PSVR2 works with a Windows PC, but it is not a plug-and-play USB-C headset. You need Sony’s PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, a separate DisplayPort 1.4 cable, Bluetooth for the PSVR2 Sense controllers, Steam, SteamVR, and the PlayStation VR2 app.
PC support launched on August 7, 2024. The headset works primarily as a wired SteamVR headset, but PC mode does not include every PS5 feature: HDR, eye tracking, headset feedback, adaptive triggers, and advanced Sense-controller haptics are unavailable.
What you need to use PSVR2 on PC
- PlayStation VR2 headset
- Sony PlayStation VR2 PC adapter
- A commercially available DisplayPort 1.4 cable, sold separately
- A compatible Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit PC
- A direct USB 3.0 connection
- Bluetooth 4.0 or later for the Sense controllers
- Steam, SteamVR, and the PlayStation VR2 app
The adapter package includes the adapter, AC adapter, AC power cord, and manual. It does not include the required DisplayPort cable. Sony’s announced U.S. launch price for the adapter was $59.99 in 2024, but that should not be treated as a verified current U.S. price.

Sony recommends an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or later or an AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or later for better performance. Minimum specifications are not a guarantee of smooth performance in every SteamVR game; individual titles can require more powerful hardware.

Important laptop and USB-C warning
Your PC needs a supported, direct DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output connected to the graphics hardware. Sony’s adapter does not support DisplayPort over USB-C. HDMI-to-DisplayPort and USB-C-to-DisplayPort conversion adapters are also unsupported. This makes many laptops unsuitable, even if they have a USB-C port that appears to support video output.
Does PSVR2 work on PC without the adapter?
No. A regular USB-C-to-USB-C cable is not a substitute for Sony’s PC adapter. The official setup uses the adapter for power, USB data, and the DisplayPort video connection. The headset’s normal USB-C connection is intended for PS5 use.
How to connect PSVR2 to a PC
- Connect the PC adapter directly to a USB 3.0 Type-A port on the computer.
- Connect a DisplayPort 1.4 cable from the adapter to the PC’s DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output.
- Connect the supplied AC adapter and power cord to the PC adapter.
- Connect the PSVR2 headset to the adapter’s USB-C port.
- Press the headset’s power button.
- Install and open the PlayStation VR2 app from Steam, then follow its setup instructions.
- Install or launch SteamVR and start a compatible VR game.
Connect the adapter and DisplayPort cable directly to the computer. Sony advises against USB hubs and extension cables for this setup.

How to pair the PSVR2 Sense controllers
- Turn on Bluetooth in Windows.
- Disconnect USB cables from both controllers.
- On the left controller, hold PS + Create until the indicator flashes.
- On the right controller, hold PS + Options until the indicator flashes.
- Pair each controller separately in Windows Bluetooth settings.
Some Bluetooth adapters may not work correctly. For pairing or tracking problems, update the Bluetooth driver, move the adapter away from USB 3.0 interference, use an external antenna where available, reduce nearby Bluetooth devices, and use the PC’s 5GHz Wi-Fi band. Turning off the paired PS5 can also help during PC pairing.
What PSVR2 features work on PC?

Basic vibration still works, but it is not the same as the richer haptic experience available on PS5. Game support and controller behavior can also vary between SteamVR titles.
What games can you play?
On PC, PSVR2 uses SteamVR rather than the PlayStation Store. That gives you access to SteamVR titles such as Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder, along with many other PC VR games.

This does not mean that PS5 PSVR2 games automatically work on PC. A title bought through the PlayStation Store is not automatically a PC copy, and PlayStation and Steam ownership or saved data should not be assumed to transfer. Cross-platform games may require a separate PC purchase. Some SteamVR games may also need custom controller bindings or community bindings.
Is PSVR2 wireless on PC?
No. Sony’s official PC setup is wired through the PC adapter and DisplayPort cable. The adapter does not add wireless PC VR capability.
Common PSVR2 PC problems
Black screen or no display
- Confirm that the DisplayPort cable runs directly from the PC’s graphics output to the adapter.
- Use a DisplayPort 1.4 cable.
- Do not use HDMI-to-DisplayPort or USB-C-to-DisplayPort conversion.
- Check that the adapter has power.
- Confirm that the headset is connected to the adapter.
- Update the graphics driver. If the problem began after an update, trying an earlier driver may help.
Headset not detected
Reconnect every cable, try another direct USB 3.0 port, and remove any hub or extension cable. If necessary, turn off the PC and headset, restart the PC first, then power on the headset and launch SteamVR.

Controllers will not pair
Charge the controllers, disconnect their USB cables, and pair the left and right controllers separately. Move the Bluetooth adapter away from USB 3.0 ports, reduce other active Bluetooth devices, update its driver, and turn off the paired PS5 while pairing.
Tracking or performance problems
Use a compatible Bluetooth adapter with a clear line of sight and reduce nearby wireless interference. For performance issues, lower SteamVR render resolution and disable Motion Smoothing if it causes artifacts or instability. The Sony minimum GPU does not guarantee high-resolution, stable performance in every game.

It is most worthwhile for existing PSVR2 owners who also have a capable desktop PC with direct DisplayPort 1.4 output. They can use one headset for PS5 and SteamVR while retaining PSVR2’s display, ergonomics, and core tracking features, although PC mode gives up several signature features.

It is a less obvious choice for someone buying a headset solely for PC. The total cost includes the headset, adapter, DisplayPort cable, and possibly a Bluetooth adapter. A PC-focused or wireless headset may be more suitable depending on priorities.
PSVR2 is a poor fit if your computer has only HDMI or USB-C video output, if you expect wireless PC VR, or if you require HDR, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and advanced haptics on PC.
