Roblox does not currently appear to use Cloudflare as the primary CDN, reverse proxy, or authoritative DNS provider for its core public domains. Current DNS, hostname, and routing evidence instead points to Roblox-operated edge infrastructure, supported by a hybrid architecture that also uses selected services from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
That does not prove Roblox never uses Cloudflare anywhere. A limited subdomain, private service, temporary configuration, or third-party Roblox-related property could use it without appearing in the DNS for roblox.com.
What “Roblox uses Cloudflare” could mean
Cloudflare is not a single service. A company can use Cloudflare for authoritative DNS, CDN delivery, reverse proxying, web application firewall (WAF) protection, DDoS mitigation, bot management, or developer services such as Workers and Tunnel.

That affects how the player’s device resolves or routes traffic; it does not mean Roblox uses Cloudflare to host or protect its servers.

Under Cloudflare’s standard full-DNS setup, a customer delegates its domain to Cloudflare nameservers and can proxy HTTP or HTTPS records through Cloudflare’s network. Cloudflare explains this model in its DNS and network documentation.
What Roblox’s public DNS reveals
The strongest publicly visible evidence does not match the usual Cloudflare-proxied configuration for Roblox’s principal domains.
roblox.com does not use standard Cloudflare nameservers
Public domain information lists a mixture of NS1 nameservers and Roblox-controlled rbxinfra.net nameservers for roblox.com, including:
dns1.p06.nsone.netdns2.p06.nsone.netdns3.p06.nsone.netdns4.p06.nsone.netns01.rbxinfra.netthroughns04.rbxinfra.net
Those are materially different from a normal Cloudflare-authoritative setup using ns.cloudflare.com nameservers. The current nameserver information is visible on Cloudflare Radar’s roblox.com page.
www.roblox.com points through Roblox-controlled hostnames
Observed DNS information for www.roblox.com shows a CNAME chain involving Roblox hostnames such as titanium.roblox.com and edge-term4.roblox.com, followed by a regional Roblox edge hostname.
The resolved address was associated with AS22697 – ROBLOX-PRODUCTION, rather than a Cloudflare network address. This is consistent with Roblox operating or directly controlling the relevant edge infrastructure. See the current Cloudflare Radar information for www.roblox.com.

DNS and routing can vary by location, resolver, IP version, hostname, and time. Therefore, this evidence supports “does not appear to use Cloudflare as the normal public edge” rather than an absolute claim that no Roblox connection can ever pass through Cloudflare.

rbxcdn.com is a Roblox content-delivery domain. Public information associates it with Roblox-controlled nameservers, and its certificate information identifies Roblox Corporation. That is consistent with Roblox using its own delivery infrastructure for at least a significant part of its content distribution.
It does not prove that every Roblox asset, image, API response, or third-party integration is delivered through exactly the same network. The relevant domain information is available on Cloudflare Radar’s rbxcdn.com page.
Roblox describes a largely self-operated infrastructure
Roblox’s own infrastructure disclosures also point away from the idea that its core platform is simply running behind Cloudflare’s CDN.
Roblox has described a custom hybrid private cloud that runs primarily on premises. The company says it manages its own hardware, compute, storage, and networking systems, operates data centers, and connects them through a dedicated backbone. Its infrastructure team has discussed this model in its infrastructure resilience article and its earlier Return to Service explanation.

The accurate description is therefore a hybrid architecture:
- Roblox-operated data centers, servers, networking, and backbone systems form a major part of the platform.
- AWS supplements that infrastructure for selected services and capacity needs.
- Current public evidence does not identify Cloudflare as the primary edge provider for Roblox’s core domains.
Does Roblox use Cloudflare for its website?
There is no current public indication that the core Roblox website uses Cloudflare’s standard reverse-proxy or CDN setup.
The conclusion is based on three kinds of evidence:
- The main
roblox.comzone uses NS1 and Roblox-controlled nameservers rather than Cloudflare nameservers. www.roblox.comuses Roblox-related CNAMEs and resolves to an address associated with the Roblox production network.- Roblox publicly describes operating substantial private-cloud, data-center, backbone, and edge infrastructure.
This conclusion applies to the core public website based on observed records. It should not be expanded into a claim about every Roblox-owned hostname, regional service, or vendor-managed application.
Does Roblox use Cloudflare as a CDN?
For its principal public domains, the evidence points instead to Roblox’s own content and edge-delivery systems. The use of rbxcdn.com, Roblox-associated hostnames, and the ROBLOX-PRODUCTION network is consistent with direct Roblox delivery.
However, a company can use more than one CDN. Roblox could route a particular asset type, region, service, or third-party property through another provider without changing the public DNS pattern of its main website. Public DNS observations cannot establish a complete internal vendor inventory.

Does Roblox use Cloudflare for DDoS protection or a WAF?
Roblox clearly operates significant in-house security and traffic-protection capabilities. In a 2025 security article, Roblox described an ML-powered workflow that analyzes Roblox-specific traffic, filters noise, detects attacks and malformed requests, and helps generate service-specific WAF allowlists. The company’s description is available in Securing Roblox.
This demonstrates internally developed security tooling, but it does not prove that every security function is exclusively proprietary or that Roblox never supplements its systems with an outside provider. DDoS protection, WAF enforcement, network filtering, and bot management can be distributed across multiple layers.
So the careful answer is: Roblox publicly describes substantial internal security systems, while public material does not establish whether Cloudflare is used for any isolated or undisclosed security function.

Website traffic and game-session traffic are not the same thing. A browser request to www.roblox.com, an asset request to rbxcdn.com, a launcher connection, and live gameplay traffic may use different hostnames, protocols, regions, and infrastructure.
Roblox’s public infrastructure disclosures describe Roblox-operated servers, regional data centers, and backbone networking. That supports the conclusion that the core gameplay platform is not simply a Cloudflare CDN deployment.
Still, DNS information for roblox.com cannot map every connection involved in every session. It cannot, by itself, rule out Cloudflare or another vendor being used for a particular creator service, API, voice feature, moderation system, telemetry endpoint, or third-party integration.

Why do players sometimes see Cloudflare while using Roblox?
You use Cloudflare DNS
If your device or router uses 1.1.1.1, Cloudflare is acting as your recursive DNS resolver. It is answering the question “What address should this domain resolve to?” It is not necessarily hosting Roblox or proxying your connection to Roblox.
You use Cloudflare WARP
WARP routes or protects the user’s traffic through Cloudflare’s network. Seeing Cloudflare in a network diagnostic, VPN application, or connection report may simply reflect your own network path.
Your school, workplace, ISP, or security product uses Cloudflare
Organizations may use Cloudflare Gateway or related filtering services. In that situation, Cloudflare can appear between your device and the public internet even when Roblox is not a Cloudflare customer for its main services.

The error belongs to a different website
Many Roblox-related sites are independent: creator tools, proxy services, community sites, analytics pages, image hosts, APIs, and game-development resources. Any of them may use Cloudflare even if Roblox itself does not.
A browser, proxy, or network tool is labeling the connection
A Cloudflare-branded error page can be generated by an intermediary, local proxy, or unrelated hostname. Check the exact hostname shown on the page before concluding that Roblox’s origin is behind Cloudflare.
How to troubleshoot a Cloudflare error when opening Roblox
- Identify the hostname. Check whether the error concerns
www.roblox.com, the launcher, an asset domain, or an unrelated Roblox-adjacent site. - Check your network configuration. Look for Cloudflare WARP,
1.1.1.1, corporate filtering, school-network controls, VPNs, or local proxy software. - Try another connection. Test mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, or another trusted network. If the error disappears, the local network or resolver is a likely factor.
- Separate DNS from traffic routing. Changing DNS changes domain lookup; it does not change Roblox’s hosting provider. WARP is different because it can route traffic through Cloudflare.
- Check the source of the error. The page may come from an ISP, browser security layer, proxy, or third-party service rather than Roblox.
Changing DNS can sometimes resolve a lookup problem, but it should not be treated as evidence that Roblox is hosted on Cloudflare or as a way to switch Roblox to a different server provider.
What the evidence does—and does not—prove
The evidence supports these conclusions:
- Roblox’s core public domains do not currently appear to use Cloudflare as their standard authoritative DNS provider.
- The main website’s observed hostname and routing chain points to Roblox-controlled infrastructure.
rbxcdn.comappears to be a Roblox-controlled content-delivery domain.- Roblox operates a substantial private-cloud and data-center platform, while using AWS selectively.
- Roblox publicly describes internally developed WAF and security capabilities.
It does not prove these stronger claims:
- Roblox has never used Cloudflare.
- No Roblox-owned subdomain or private service uses Cloudflare.
- Every packet in every Roblox session bypasses Cloudflare.
- Every Roblox asset is delivered from one network.
- Roblox’s security systems contain no third-party components.
DNS and IP information can change by geography, resolver, IPv4 or IPv6 path, hostname, and date. It reveals public routing, not private contracts or a company’s complete vendor list.

For Roblox’s main public infrastructure, the best-supported answer is probably no—not in the normal Cloudflare-proxied sense. Current public DNS, CNAME, ASN, and certificate evidence points to Roblox-operated DNS, edge, and delivery systems. Roblox also describes a largely self-managed private-cloud infrastructure, with AWS used for selected workloads and bursts of capacity.
Cloudflare may still appear on a player’s device because of 1.1.1.1, WARP, an organization’s network, or a separate Roblox-related website. And public evidence cannot rule out limited or undisclosed Cloudflare use elsewhere in Roblox’s wider service architecture.
