Many newer LG TVs have Bluetooth, but not every LG television does. Availability, supported device types, menus, and simultaneous-output features depend on the exact model, region, firmware, and webOS version. A Smart TV label—or a Bluetooth-enabled Magic Remote—does not prove that Bluetooth headphones will work. Check the model’s manual and its Sound Out menu before buying an accessory.
What Bluetooth on an LG TV can do
LG uses Bluetooth for several different functions. A television may support one without supporting the others:
- Audio output: Sends sound to compatible headphones, earbuds, speakers, or some soundbars.
- Input devices: Connects selected keyboards, mice, and game controllers. LG says the supported list must be checked in the individual TV manual.
- LG wireless audio: Older sets may show LG Sound Sync/Wireless instead of a generic Bluetooth option.
- Remote functions: Wireless Magic Remote operation does not establish that Bluetooth audio output is available.
The Bluetooth version printed in a specification also does not tell you the supported profiles, codecs, number of devices, or expected lip-sync performance.

How to check whether your specific LG TV has Bluetooth
Look in Sound Out
Open Settings → All Settings → Sound → Sound Out. Depending on the software generation, look for Bluetooth Devices, Use Wireless Speaker, Bluetooth, LG Sound Sync/Wireless, or List of Bluetooth Devices. If no Bluetooth-related option appears, the model may not support Bluetooth audio, the feature may be region-limited, or the menu may use different wording.
Identify the complete model number
Find the label on the rear of the television, or open Settings → All Settings → Support → TV Information (the wording varies). Search LG’s support site for that exact model and read its manual and connectivity specifications. Size variants, regional editions, and firmware generations in one product family can differ.
Check the webOS version
LG says some models show software information after pressing Settings, while others use a three-press Mute shortcut. Treat that shortcut as model-dependent, not universal.

How to pair Bluetooth headphones or speakers
First put the accessory into genuine pairing mode. Being switched on is not enough. Then use the path matching your TV’s software:
webOS 26 or later (2026 models)
- Press Settings, then choose All Settings.
- Select Sound → Sound Out → Bluetooth Devices → Connectable Devices.
- Choose the accessory’s name and confirm.
webOS 6.0 or later (many 2021–2025 models)
- Open Settings → All Settings → Sound → Sound Out.
- Select Use Wireless Speaker → Bluetooth Devices → Connectable Devices.
- Choose the accessory.
webOS 5.0 or earlier (2020 and older)
- Open Settings → All Settings → Sound → Sound Out.
- Select Bluetooth → Connectable Devices.
- Choose the accessory.
After pairing, the TV may switch automatically from its internal speakers. If it does not, return to Sound Out and select the paired Bluetooth device manually. LG notes that labels differ by model; see the same official connection instructions.
How to connect a keyboard, mouse, or game controller

Audio support does not guarantee that every keyboard, mouse, or gamepad will work. A controller can pair yet have limited support in a particular app or game; consult the TV manual for approved devices.

Can two Bluetooth headphones connect at once?
LG’s current U.S. guidance says compatible TVs can play to two compatible Bluetooth headphones or earbuds simultaneously. This is not a guarantee for every model or every headset. Pair the first device, then add the second from the Bluetooth device list. If the second cannot be added, the limit may be model-, firmware-, or accessory-specific. Dual playback can also produce different volume controls, codec behavior, or noticeable delay.
Can Bluetooth audio play with the TV speakers or a soundbar?
TV speakers plus headphones
Some newer sets offer Settings → Sound → Sound Out → Internal TV Speakers + Headphone Audio. Availability and whether Bluetooth headphones qualify vary by model and webOS version. Wireless buffering can make the TV speakers and headphones sound out of sync. LG documents supported combined output at its TV connection guide.

Bluetooth headphones plus a soundbar
Some televisions expose Use Multiple Speakers, Bluetooth Device + TV Speaker, or older Bluetooth Surround Sound + Internal TV Speaker options. These modes are highly model-dependent and do not promise synchronization. A Bluetooth soundbar is not equivalent to an HDMI soundbar: HDMI ARC/eARC usually provides better TV control and broader surround-format support. See LG’s multiple-speaker guidance.
Bluetooth troubleshooting by symptom

Earbuds such as AirPods must be placed in pairing mode and disconnected from nearby devices. Bluetooth branding alone does not make them continuously discoverable.

Optical transmitter
An optical-to-Bluetooth transmitter is a practical fallback when the TV has TOSLINK output. Optical is stable, but may require PCM, may not pass volume commands from the TV remote, and can interfere with an existing soundbar depending on the TV.

AUX or RCA transmitter
Use a transmitter matching the TV’s analog output. Verify that a 3.5-mm socket is actually a headphone output; LG warns that some similar-looking ports are diagnostic or RS-232 connections.
HDMI ARC audio extractor
Choose this when optical is unavailable or already occupied. Check ARC versus eARC support, video pass-through, volume control, audio formats, and whether a soundbar can remain connected. See Avantree’s connection examples.
Wired headphones or HDMI soundbar
Wired headphones avoid wireless latency. For soundbars and receivers, HDMI ARC/eARC is generally preferable when surround formats, dependable synchronization, and HDMI-CEC volume/power control matter. LG lists ARC/eARC, optical, wired, and wireless choices in its Sound Out guide.

Choosing a transmitter or TV headphones
Buy by TV output port, supported headphone codec/profile, latency needs, and whether one or two listeners are required—not by Bluetooth version alone. For example, the official Avantree Audikast 3 lists optical and AUX inputs, Bluetooth 5.3, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, SBC, and two-headphone support, but its compatibility notes exclude HDMI-only televisions and certain hearing aids. The listed U.S. price has appeared around $49.99 to $54.99 depending on variant, so verify the current price.
Hearing aids may use Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy Audio, Auracast, or a proprietary protocol. Confirm the exact hearing-aid or streamer model before buying; a conventional TV transmitter is not universally compatible. The Audikast collection lists Bluetooth-and-Auracast options, including a model shown at $69.99, but availability and pricing can change.
Bottom line
Start with the exact LG model and its Sound Out menu. If Bluetooth audio is present, use the webOS-specific pairing path and ensure the accessory is truly discoverable. If the menu is absent, or Bluetooth introduces delay or weak soundbar control, choose a connection that matches the available optical, AUX, RCA, or HDMI ARC/eARC output instead.
