The DJI Lito X1 was a legitimate FCC-leak story in January 2026, but it is no longer just a rumor. DJI now sells the drone officially. The early reports pointed toward a long-range, long-endurance model, but two headline claims need context: DJI rates the Lito X1 for up to 52 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, while the 20 km video-transmission figure applies to FCC conditions and is not a universal or legally permitted flight distance.
Here is what the FCC filing revealed, which specifications were later confirmed, and where the original leak went beyond the available evidence.
What the FCC filing revealed
The January report linked a DJI device identified as SS3-DGP14 to the company’s U.S. radio-certification activity. The same coverage also mentioned a possible DJI Lito 1 model under identifier SS3-DGN12. A third-party record for the Lito X1 identifier is available through FCC Insights.

FCC filings are useful early signals because they show that a device is being submitted for radio testing or authorization. However, an FCC filing does not automatically confirm the consumer-facing name, launch date, retail availability, camera specification, final software features, or price. It also does not grant permission to fly the aircraft.

The original report referred to an entry such as “SDR Transceiver 2”. That wording could suggest a newer or more capable software-defined radio system, and early coverage connected it with the possibility of more than 20 km of transmission range. But the component description alone did not prove DJI’s O5 branding, 5G cellular connectivity, or a final consumer operating mode.
The initial reporting also suggested that a larger battery might provide roughly 50 minutes of flight time. That direction was broadly correct, but DJI’s eventual specification is more precise: up to 52 minutes with the Battery Plus.

DJI Lito X1: confirmed specifications
DJI’s official product information lists the Lito X1 with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, an f/1.7 aperture and a camera package aimed at creators rather than only casual recreational pilots.

- Camera: 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with an f/1.7 aperture.
- Video: up to 4K at 60 frames per second with HDR, plus up to 4K/100fps slow motion.
- Colour: 10-bit D-Log M recording.
- Dynamic range: up to 14 stops in specified HDR or Auto conditions.
- Vertical video: up to 2.7K.
- Photos: up to 48 MP still images.
- Flight features: ActiveTrack and intelligent shooting modes.
- Sensing: omnidirectional obstacle sensing and forward-facing LiDAR.
- Storage: 42 GB of internal storage.
These are post-launch specifications from DJI. They should not be presented as information that was necessarily visible in the original FCC filing.

What does the 20 km transmission claim mean?
DJI’s comparison table labels the top figure as “Max Video Transmission Range: 20 km (FCC)”. The same product information uses a separate headline figure of 15 km and lists different regional maximums:
- FCC: 20 km
- IC: 15 km
- CE, SRRC and MIC: 8 km
The careful interpretation is therefore: DJI rates the Lito X1 for a maximum 20 km video-transmission range under FCC conditions. That number may not apply in the country where you fly.

Line of sight, interference, terrain, buildings, antenna orientation, weather, altitude and local radio rules can all reduce connection quality. Pilots should maintain a suitable safety margin and plan to return well before the battery becomes critical.
Most importantly, transmission range is not the same as legal flight range. In the United States, visual-line-of-sight obligations and FAA rules remain separate from FCC radio certification. A drone having a 20 km maximum link does not authorize a pilot to fly it 20 km away.
What does the 50-minute battery claim mean?
The early leak language referred to approximately 50 minutes. DJI now lists a more specific maximum: 52 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. The standard battery is listed at approximately 31 minutes.

DJI’s battery support information identifies the standard Lito X1 battery as a 2,788 mAh, 7 V, 19.52 Wh battery weighing approximately 74 g. The Lito/Lito X1 Battery Plus is listed at 4,680 mAh, 7.16 V, 33.51 Wh and approximately 118 g. The additional capacity explains the longer rated endurance.

Neither figure should be treated as normal usable mission time. Maximum-flight-time ratings are measured under controlled conditions. Wind, cold temperatures, aggressive manoeuvres, repeated hovering, obstacle avoidance, payload, signal-return behaviour and battery ageing can all reduce endurance. Pilots must reserve power for return-to-home and landing rather than planning to use the entire rating.
The Plus battery also adds weight. That can affect whether a particular configuration remains within a sub-249-gram category and may change the aircraft’s regulatory treatment. Check the aircraft’s actual configuration and the rules in your jurisdiction before relying on the lightweight classification.

O5, SDR and 5G: what remains unconfirmed?
The FCC-linked radio terminology was enough to fuel speculation about a next-generation DJI transmission platform. That is a reasonable explanation for why the filing attracted attention, but it is not proof of a particular product name or wireless feature.

As of the current DJI product information, do not treat claims that the Lito X1 definitely uses O5 transmission or includes 5G connectivity as confirmed specifications. The strongest evidence is DJI’s own retail specification table and documentation, not an interpretation of an internal radio entry.
The same caution applies to claims that the FCC filing confirmed the Lito X1’s camera, obstacle sensors or final flight modes. Regulatory paperwork can establish radio-related information without revealing the complete commercial product.

At the time observed in August 2026, DJI’s U.S. store listed the following prices:
- Base package with RC-N3: $369.
- Fly More Combo with RC-N3: $499.
- Fly More Combo with RC 2: $589.
The base RC-N3 package is the lowest-cost entry point, but the controller requires a smartphone for the live view. The RC 2 package costs more but provides a more self-contained setup with an integrated display. The Fly More options are aimed at buyers who want additional batteries and charging convenience.
Prices, stock, taxes and regional availability can change, so check the current DJI store listing before buying. The early $759 figure should not be used as the current starting price.

How it compares with other DJI drones
DJI’s own comparison presents the Lito 1, DJI Flip and Mini 4 Pro as relevant alternatives, but they serve different priorities.
- DJI Lito 1: The cheaper, simpler option, with a smaller 1/2-inch sensor and less capable imaging hardware. It may suit casual beginners who do not need the Lito X1’s camera and sensing features.
- DJI Flip: Uses a similar 1/1.3-inch sensor position and differentiates itself with a safety-oriented full-cover propeller-guard design.
- DJI Mini 4 Pro: A more expensive, premium-oriented option, listed by DJI from $599 in the comparison shown. It should not automatically be treated as a direct predecessor or successor to the Lito X1.
The Lito X1 is most compelling when its combination of 4K/60 HDR, 10-bit D-Log M, obstacle sensing, internal storage and optional long-endurance battery matches the buyer’s needs. It is not automatically the best choice for every pilot, particularly someone seeking professional interchangeable-camera flexibility.
Who should buy the DJI Lito X1?
The Lito X1 is a strong candidate for:
- New camera-drone users who want more than entry-level image quality.
- Travellers who value a lightweight aircraft.
- Creators who need 4K/60 HDR and 10-bit D-Log M.
- Pilots who value omnidirectional sensing and forward-facing LiDAR.
- Users who want substantial internal storage without relying immediately on a memory card.
- Buyers who understand that the 52-minute figure requires the Plus battery.
It is less suitable for:
- Pilots who need a professional cinema or interchangeable-camera system.
- Buyers expecting a practical 20 km flight distance.
- Users in regions where the Plus battery creates additional weight or regulatory complications.
- Anyone choosing solely on the basis of the headline transmission figure.
- Casual users for whom the cheaper Lito 1 is sufficient.
Timeline: from FCC sighting to retail product
- January 30, 2026: The New Camera reportedly connected DJI’s Lito 1 and Lito X1 with FCC documentation.
- January 31, 2026: Gizmochina published its report about the FCC-linked models, possible long-range transmission and the larger-battery claim.
- April 2026: DJI product manuals and safety documentation began appearing in indexed DJI-hosted files, suggesting that the product had progressed beyond an unconfirmed rumour.
- By August 18, 2026: DJI’s official store listed the Lito X1 for retail purchase with published specifications and package prices.
The original report estimated that FCC confidentiality could require disclosure around May 25, 2026, based on a 180-day period. That was a filing-related estimate, not proof that a launch had to occur on that date.
Bottom line
The DJI Lito X1 FCC leak was a meaningful early signal, and the product eventually became real. But the most useful current version of the story comes from DJI’s official specifications: approximately 31 minutes with the standard battery, up to 52 minutes with Battery Plus, and up to 20 km of video transmission under FCC conditions. Those are not interchangeable claims, do not apply identically in every market, and do not override safe-flight or visual-line-of-sight requirements.
