The DeepCool Spartacus 420 is a flagship closed-loop CPU cooler for large, high-end desktop builds. It combines a nominal 420mm radiator class, three unusually thick 140mm fans, a sixth-generation pump, and a customizable 3.4-inch 480×480 LCD. Its biggest limitation is also clear: the cooler needs a genuinely spacious case, not merely one that lists generic “420mm radiator support.”
DeepCool lists support for Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700, plus AMD AM5 and AM4. The company claims heat dissipation of up to 350W, but that figure—and the advertised 1–3°C benefit from the Intel offset bracket—should be treated as manufacturer claims rather than independently established results.

The “420mm” label describes the radiator class supported by three 140mm fans; it does not mean the radiator is only 420mm long. DeepCool lists the radiator at 462mm long. With the supplied 30mm-thick fans installed, the radiator-and-fan assembly is approximately 57mm thick before accounting for mounting hardware, tubing, and nearby components. The listed net weight is 2,647g.

The LCD is the main differentiator
The pump cap contains a 3.4-inch, 480×480 LCD with a claimed 750-nit brightness, 16.7 million colors, and a 30Hz refresh rate. DeepCool describes it as a modular display that can show system-monitoring layouts, graphs, images, animated GIFs, MP4 video, and music-spectrum effects.
Through DeepCreative software, the display can be configured to show information such as CPU temperature, CPU usage, frequency, pump speed, GPU power, network speed, and RAM usage. DeepCool also advertises a “Zen” mode that reduces update frequency under heavy system load.
This screen is primarily a customization and monitoring feature—not a cooling feature. It does not by itself lower CPU temperatures, and the 30Hz refresh rate makes it better suited to dashboards and decorative animations than to high-refresh video.
Several practical software details should be confirmed from the current manual or support documentation before installation: whether LCD functions require a continuous USB connection, which Windows versions are supported, whether DeepCreative must remain running, what happens without the software, and the precise file-size, format, and orientation limits for GIF and video content. The available product information does not fully establish those points.
420mm cooling hardware for high-power CPUs
The cooler uses what DeepCool calls a sixth-generation pump with a three-phase, six-slot, four-pole motor and field-oriented control. Its PWM-adjustable speed is listed at 2,500–3,400RPM ±10%, with a rated power consumption of 3.48W. DeepCool also describes an expanded copper base and revised microfin geometry.
DeepCool claims heat dissipation of up to 350W. That is a stated manufacturer capability, not a guarantee that every processor will remain within a particular temperature range. Actual results depend on the CPU, power limits, mounting pressure, thermal paste, fan and pump curves, case airflow, ambient temperature, and workload.
For certain 20- and 24-core Intel LGA1851 processors—including examples such as the Core Ultra 9 285K and Core Ultra 7 265K—DeepCool says its offset mounting bracket can improve temperatures by 1–3°C. That claim applies to the specified hotspot-offset scenario and should not be generalized to every LGA1851 chip or AMD processor.
Three thick 140mm fans
The supplied fans are 140×140×30mm units rather than the more common 25mm-thick design. DeepCool rates each at up to 112.5CFM airflow, 4.15mmAq static pressure, and no more than 32.89dB(A) of noise. Their rated speed is 500–2,000RPM ±10%, with zero-RPM operation below a stated PWM duty threshold.
The fans use PPS construction, while bearing terminology varies between regional product pages. Use the bearing description for the region in which the product is being sold rather than assuming all regional listings use identical wording.

The extra 5mm of fan thickness may provide useful rigidity and airflow headroom, but it makes installation more demanding. The airflow, pressure, and noise figures are rated specifications; they should not be compared directly with competing coolers unless the measurement conditions are equivalent.
Check your case before buying
Case compatibility is the most important buying check for the Spartacus 420. Confirm all of the following in the case manufacturer’s clearance diagram:

- Support for a radiator at least 462mm long, not just a generic “420mm” label.
- A 140mm-wide radiator mounting position.
- Room for the approximately 57mm radiator-and-fan stack.
- Clearance from top-mounted fans to VRM heatsinks, memory, EPS power cables, motherboard shrouds, and case rails.
- GPU-length clearance if the radiator is front-mounted.
- Mounting holes that match the radiator’s exact length and position.
- Enough room for the 465mm tubes to reach the CPU block without forcing a sharp bend.
- Fan brackets that accept the extra thickness of the 30mm fans.
A top-mounted installation can collide with tall VRM heatsinks, high-profile memory, EPS cables, or structural braces. A front-mounted installation may reduce GPU clearance, alter airflow, and make tubing placement more difficult. If front mounting is used, position the loop carefully so the pump is not the highest point in the system; the radiator should provide the place where air can collect.
The pump/block itself measures 99×91×65mm. Check its clearance around the CPU socket, motherboard heatsinks, memory slots, and the first PCIe slot as well as the radiator clearance.
Socket compatibility is only half the check
DeepCool lists compatibility with:
- Intel LGA1851
- Intel LGA1700
- AMD AM5
- AMD AM4
That covers current Core Ultra desktop platforms and recent mainstream AMD desktop sockets, but socket support does not guarantee physical compatibility. A motherboard can accept the mounting hardware while the case cannot accommodate the radiator, fan thickness, tubing route, or pump block.
Connections and control
DeepCool uses a 10-pin connection integrating pump and screen power or signal connections, along with a compact control hub. The company says the hub provides independent fan-speed and ARGB control by channel. The cooler also uses 4-pin PWM connections for the pump and fans and 3-pin 5V addressable-RGB connections for lighting.

The integrated 10-pin design is intended to reduce cable clutter, but “single connection” should not be read as “the entire cooler uses one motherboard cable.” Builders should identify the pump, display, fan, RGB, USB, hub, and power connections required by the installation manual before routing cables.
DeepCreative advertises Silence AI, Performance AI, Sleep, Office, Gaming, and Overclocking modes. It also says the software monitors CPU load and changes fan and pump behavior, with the fans switching to full speed above 80°C and returning to the preset mode below 80°C. These are advertised software functions, not independently validated performance results.

DeepCool says the Spartacus 420 uses patented Anti-Leak Technology. Its internal valve is designed to regulate pressure and release excess internal pressure when it exceeds atmospheric pressure.

This may reduce pressure-related leakage risk and help service life, but it does not eliminate pump failure, coolant permeation, manufacturing defects, or installation damage. The cooler should not be described as leak-proof or maintenance-free forever.
Spartacus 420 versus Spartacus 360
The Spartacus 360 uses a smaller 402×120×27mm radiator and 120mm fans while retaining the same general 3.4-inch, 480×480 LCD concept.

The 420 is not automatically the better choice. Choose it when the case clearly supports the full assembly and the system benefits from a larger radiator and 140mm fans. Choose the 360 when case compatibility and simpler installation matter more. Cooling performance should ultimately be decided by comparable independent testing, not radiator class alone.
LCD AIO versus simpler cooling
A non-LCD AIO can be the better choice if the display is unnecessary. It may reduce software, USB, firmware, and display-related complexity while leaving the core cooling hardware to do its job. A high-end dual-tower air cooler avoids pump and liquid-loop failure modes altogether, although it may be less suitable for extreme sustained CPU loads or for builders who specifically want a prominent screen.
The Spartacus 420’s value therefore depends on more than cooling capacity. Buyers are paying for the combination of a large radiator, thick 140mm fans, a substantial customizable display, lighting, and software control. If the LCD will remain unused, a simpler cooler may provide a more rational build.

DeepCool lists the product under part number R-SPT420-BKDSMP-G-1 and EAN 6933412729648. Regional launch evidence includes a Japanese announcement dated April 24, 2026, but the available information does not establish a dependable current U.S. MSRP or broad U.S. retail availability. Check the official DeepCool product page and local retailers for current pricing and stock rather than converting a regional price into a U.S. recommendation.
Who should buy the DeepCool Spartacus 420?
Buy it if:
- Your case explicitly supports a 462mm-long, 140mm-wide radiator with approximately 57mm of radiator-and-fan thickness.
- You are building a high-end Intel or AMD system and want substantial liquid-cooling capacity.
- You genuinely want a customizable LCD for monitoring or visual design.
- You are comfortable installing control-hub, USB, PWM, RGB, and software connections.
Consider the Spartacus 360 if: you want the LCD concept but your case has less room or you prefer an easier installation.
Skip the Spartacus 420 if: your case clearance is marginal, software simplicity is a priority, or you have no interest in the display. In those situations, a simpler 360mm AIO, non-LCD 420mm cooler, or capable air cooler may be a better fit.
