The Clueless, a Spanish agency, said its fictional, AI-generated influencer Aitana brought in up to $11,000 per month. That figure was an agency claim, not independently audited income: the available reporting does not establish whether it was a peak month, gross revenue, profit, or a recurring amount.
Who is Aitana?
Aitana was presented in 2023 as a 25-year-old woman from Barcelona, with pink hair and glamour-model styling. She is a fictional persona, not a human model or an autonomous AI creator. The Clueless created and managed the public-facing project; people handled the account, commercial relationships, and publishing.
Futurism reported on November 27, 2023, that The Clueless and agency founder and co-creator Rubén Cruz were behind Aitana. The article described her as AI-generated. The “fake influencer” label can be confusing: in this case, it refers to a fictional persona, not evidence that the account used fake followers or impersonated a real person. How did the project reportedly make money?
Brand promotions
Futurism reported that Aitana’s creators secured brand deals worth more than $1,100 each. That is a reported deal value, not proof that every deal was paid, repeated, or profitable. The reporting does not specify the number of sponsors, posts, or completed payments.

Paid content and social reach
The report said the account sold sexually suggestive images through Fanvue, a subscription platform it compared to OnlyFans. It also reported that Aitana had nearly 150,000 Instagram followers at the time. That follower count is a historical figure from November 2023, not a current audience statistic.
The report gives no subscription price, subscriber count, platform fees, production costs, or labor expenses. Without those figures, it is not possible to calculate revenue by channel or estimate profit.
What does “up to $11,000 a month” actually establish?
The reported wording matters: The Clueless claimed the project generated “up to” $11,000 per month. Neither the report nor the available account of it provides financial records or an independent audit. It does not say whether the figure represents a best month, an average, gross receipts, projected deals, or money left after expenses.
That means the figure should not be treated as Aitana’s salary, net earnings, or a dependable monthly run rate. It also cannot be multiplied into an annual income estimate: the reporting does not show that the amount continued month after month. The Clueless operated and monetized the persona; Aitana did not independently receive or manage income.
Did a celebrity mistake her for a real person?
Cruz reportedly said that a well-known Latin American actor with about five million followers contacted Aitana and asked her out, believing she was real. The actor was not named in the report, the message was not published, and the anecdote was not independently confirmed. It is therefore a claim attributed to the co-creator, not verified evidence that a particular celebrity was deceived or that the account routinely fooled people.
Why did The Clueless create a fictional model?
The agency described the project as an alternative to working with human influencers and models. Its stated rationale included avoiding scheduling problems, personality conflicts, inconsistent brand representation, and the risk that a human spokesperson might leave a campaign. It also argued that a synthetic persona could offer more control over appearance and identity.

Those are the creators’ commercial arguments, not proof that AI influencers are cheaper or more effective across campaigns. A human creator can use a product or visit a location and offer firsthand experience; a fictional character cannot. Generating images may remove the need for some physical shoots, but it does not eliminate the human work of developing the persona, producing content, managing platforms, negotiating deals, and moderating an audience.
What the Aitana story leaves unresolved
Disclosure and trust
The available report does not establish how prominently Aitana’s account disclosed that she was fictional, whether paid posts were labeled, or whether Fanvue subscribers were told how the persona was made. Those questions matter because audiences may interpret a simulated personal recommendation differently from a clearly identified fictional endorsement. Brands also need to know what they are buying and how the audience will understand the promotion.

Consent, likeness, and representation
Aitana was described as an original synthetic persona, not a digital replica of a named person. That distinction does not establish that every generated image is free of rights concerns: synthetic output can resemble a real person, and using someone’s face, voice, or likeness without permission raises different issues from creating a fictional character. Replacing a human model for a campaign can also shift work away from models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and production crews. Whether a synthetic character is suitable depends on the campaign: an image-led promotion is different from an endorsement that relies on personal experience. One agency’s account of one project does not show that AI influencers are broadly more effective, less costly after all expenses, or poised to replace human creators.
