Choose Hostinger hPanel if you want a guided dashboard for websites hosted on Hostinger’s Web or Cloud plans. Choose cPanel if you need a widely used hosting interface, WHM reseller and server-administration tools, or a more portable workflow across hosting providers. They overlap on everyday website tasks, but they are not equivalent products: hPanel is part of Hostinger’s managed hosting ecosystem, while cPanel is a separately licensed platform commonly paired with hosting or a server you manage.
Here, “hPanel” means Hostinger’s control panel—not the separate product at hpanel.net. The key question is not which dashboard wins in the abstract; it is whether you need a simpler managed-hosting experience or broader control and portability.
What are cPanel, WHM, and Hostinger hPanel?
cPanel is an account-level control panel for managing a hosted website’s files, domains, email, databases, and related services. WHM is the separate administrative layer used by server owners and resellers to create and manage hosting accounts and configure server services. A shared-hosting customer may have cPanel without access to WHM. cPanel’s getting-started guide describes the account interface; its WHM and cPanel explanation distinguishes the two roles.
Hostinger hPanel is Hostinger’s account-centric dashboard for its Web and Cloud hosting services. Hostinger’s guide groups tools under areas such as Websites, Domains, Emails, VPS, Billing, and Marketplace, though available tools vary by product. You can access it at hpanel.hostinger.com. See Hostinger’s hPanel guide.

These are different hosting models as much as different interfaces. Hostinger manages the underlying platform for its Web and Cloud customers; cPanel and WHM are often used by hosting companies, resellers, and operators of VPS or dedicated servers.
cPanel vs. hPanel at a glance
| Need | Hostinger hPanel | cPanel and WHM |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit | Hostinger Web or Cloud customers who prefer a centralized, guided dashboard. | Users who value provider choice; WHM users who administer servers or reseller accounts. |
| Everyday site tasks | Website, domain, DNS, email, file, database, and backup tools are integrated with Hostinger services; availability depends on plan. Hostinger service guide. | cPanel provides account-level tools for website content, domains, email, and SQL databases; the hosting provider controls which features are enabled. cPanel documentation. |
| Server administration | Standard Web and Cloud hPanel is not a substitute for root-level WHM administration. | WHM supports server and account administration when the user has the required access. |
| Reseller workflows | Do not assume independent customer-account provisioning comparable to WHM. | WHM is suited to creating and managing hosting accounts, subject to license and server setup. |
| Portability | Convenient within Hostinger; moving away may mean manually transferring files, databases, email, and settings. | Common across many hosts, with dedicated account-transfer tools for compatible cPanel servers. |
| Cost model | Included as part of Hostinger’s hosting product; compare the full plan and renewal terms. | May be bundled by a host or licensed separately. Direct cPanel Store license prices do not include hosting. cPanel pricing. |
Neither panel alone determines a site’s speed, uptime, backup retention, or resource limits. Those depend on the hosting plan, provider configuration, and server resources.
Which panel is easier to use?
hPanel: guided and centralized
hPanel is aimed at managing Hostinger services from one account rather than exposing every server-level choice. That can be a better fit if you want to add a site, manage a domain, or reach email and database tools without administering a server. Its advantage is most relevant when you are already using Hostinger; it is not a general panel you can install on an unrelated server.

cPanel: familiar and tool-rich
cPanel has a long-established feature layout and is available through many hosting providers. Users can reach account tools such as File Manager, database management, email, and domains, depending on the host’s configuration. WHM adds a different layer for administrators and resellers; it is not simply another name for the customer-facing cPanel screen.
There is no sound basis here to claim one dashboard is objectively faster or more intuitive. The experience depends on the provider’s configuration, enabled features, panel version, and whether you are using cPanel or WHM.
Can both handle a typical website?
For a conventional WordPress, portfolio, or small-business website, both environments can cover many common hosting tasks. Depending on the product and provider, those may include domains and DNS, file uploads, databases, PHP settings, SSL, email, cron jobs, and backups. The panel does not guarantee that a particular plan includes every tool or has sufficient resources for your site.
Rank #3
- Domains and DNS: hPanel provides Hostinger domain and DNS management; cPanel DNS controls depend on the host and may be complemented by WHM. If your domain uses an external DNS provider, make changes there instead.
- Files and databases: Both workflows can provide file and database tools. You still need the correct database name, user, password, and host in your application configuration.
- Email: Mailboxes, forwarding, webmail, and mail-server settings depend on the plan. Check mailbox limits and IMAP/SMTP details, and preserve SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records when changing providers.
- Backups: Compare frequency, retention, what is included, and whether restoration is available—not just the presence of a Backups menu. Hostinger describes backup options in its service guide; cPanel backup arrangements can depend on the host or separately configured products.
- Security: SSL, login protection, malware scanning, firewall controls, and SSH access vary by plan and configuration. cPanel lists capabilities and products at its features page; Hostinger documents its controls in the hPanel help center.
Before choosing, check the plan’s PHP versions and extensions, CPU and memory limits, storage and inode limits, SSH availability, backup restoration process, and email terms. A feature exposed by a panel can still be restricted by the provider.

What does cPanel cost compared with hPanel?
hPanel is bundled into Hostinger’s hosting offering rather than bought as a separate cPanel license. Hostinger plan prices vary by region, term, promotion, and renewal, so compare the live plan price and what it includes.
For direct licensing, cPanel Store prices effective December 16, 2025 are listed as follows. These are monthly license prices, not hosting prices; a hosting company may instead bundle or absorb a license cost. cPanel Store license pricing.
| Direct license | Account limit | Monthly price | Environment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo Cloud | 1 | $29.99 | VPS/cloud only |
| Admin Cloud | Up to 5 | $35.99 | VPS/cloud only |
| Pro Cloud | Up to 30 | $53.99 | VPS/cloud only |
| Premier Cloud | Up to 100 | $69.99 | VPS/cloud |
| Premier Metal | 100+ | $69.99 | Dedicated/metal |
| Additional Premier accounts | Over 100 | $0.49 per account | Premier license |
Those license figures do not settle which option is cheaper overall. Include hosting, backups, security tools, and server administration in the cPanel total; compare those costs with the complete Hostinger plan and its renewal price.

A basic site can be moved between hosts, but changing panels is not necessarily a one-click account transfer. The work is more involved when the site depends on email, scheduled tasks, external services, custom PHP settings, or provider-specific tools.

Hostinger’s documented process covers downloading and extracting files and database backups, adding domains or subdomains to the Hostinger plan, uploading files to the correct public_html directory, creating and importing databases, updating application settings, handling email separately if needed, and pointing the domain to the new host. For WordPress, update the database credentials in wp-config.php. See Hostinger’s cPanel-to-hPanel migration instructions.

Moving from hPanel to cPanel
Hostinger’s reverse-migration guide describes downloading hPanel backups, creating the cPanel account, uploading files, creating and importing the database, updating credentials, and pointing the domain to the new server. It notes that DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate; actual timing varies. Hostinger’s hPanel-to-cPanel guide has the steps.
What to verify before changing DNS
- Make fresh backups. Keep copies of website files and databases, and confirm that you can access them.
- Record dependencies. List email accounts and forwarding rules, DNS records, cron jobs, PHP requirements, SMTP settings, and external services such as a CDN or payment provider.
- Build and test the destination. Check the homepage, internal pages, WordPress admin, forms, uploads, SSL, redirects, and scheduled tasks before directing visitors to it.
- Move email deliberately. Create required mailboxes and preserve or update MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. A working website does not prove that email has moved.
- Switch DNS and monitor. Keep the old hosting active while DNS caches update and verify that web and mail traffic reach the intended service.
For a WordPress site, if internal pages return 404 after migration, re-save the permalink settings. If WordPress reports a database connection error, check the database name, username, password, host, and user privileges in its configuration. Hostinger documents both configuration changes and the permalink issue in its migration guide. For compatible cPanel-to-cPanel server moves, WHM’s Transfer Tool can move accounts, but cPanel warns that transfers can involve downtime and require attention to compatibility and configuration: cPanel account-transfer documentation.
Which should you choose?
- Beginner with a Hostinger website: Choose hPanel if you want a single, guided place to manage the services included in your plan.
- Ordinary WordPress site: Either can work. Prefer hPanel if you are choosing Hostinger and want its integrated workflow; do not buy a cPanel-based setup merely because WordPress requires it.
- Freelancer or agency: Choose cPanel/WHM if you need reseller account management or depend on cPanel workflows across client hosting. If you only manage a few sites, compare the actual plan tools before deciding.
- Developer: Choose based on access to the specific tools you need—SSH, cron, PHP configuration, databases, staging, and deployment—not the panel name alone.
- VPS or dedicated-server operator: cPanel/WHM is a fit when you need its server-management model and have budgeted for licensing and administration. Hostinger’s standard Web/Cloud hPanel is not equivalent to root-level WHM; Hostinger treats VPS products separately. See its VPS help collection.
- Existing cPanel user considering Hostinger: hPanel can manage the destination, but plan for a migration of files, databases, settings, and possibly email rather than assuming a full account transfer.
If neither model fits, DirectAdmin, Plesk, CyberPanel, or a server without a control panel may suit particular VPS operators. Their features, licensing, and migration paths differ, so verify compatibility with the intended host before committing.
