Corsair launched the VIRTUOSO MAX Wireless on October 15, 2024, introducing its first VIRTUOSO headset with active noise cancellation. The premium headset combines 50mm graphene drivers, Dolby Atmos spatial audio, simultaneous 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth, a detachable microphone, and a manufacturer-rated battery life of up to 60 hours.
There are two important versions: the standard VIRTUOSO MAX Wireless for PC, PlayStation and other devices, and the separately sold VIRTUOSO MAX Wireless for Xbox. Xbox buyers should choose the Xbox model rather than assuming the standard version offers equivalent wireless compatibility.
What Corsair launched
Corsair positioned the VIRTUOSO MAX Wireless as a high-end gaming headset rather than a minor refresh. Both versions use the same broad feature strategy: graphene drivers for the audio hardware, ANC for reducing room noise, Dolby Atmos support for compatible spatial-audio setups, Bluetooth for mobile devices, and a detachable boom microphone.
The headset was announced as immediately available through Corsair and authorized retailers, with a two-year warranty stated in Corsair’s launch announcement. Availability, regional pricing and included software can change, so buyers should check the product page for their market.

What “enhanced audio technology” means
50mm graphene drivers
The VIRTUOSO MAX uses custom 50mm graphene drivers. Corsair says the material and driver design are intended to reduce distortion and improve detail. Graphene is the headline hardware change, but the material alone does not prove that a headset will sound better than every competing model. Independent reviews generally found the MAX detailed and immersive, while also noting that its value depends on whether you need its connectivity and noise-control features.
Dolby Atmos spatial audio
Dolby Atmos is software-based spatial processing, not a set of additional speakers inside the earcups. The headset remains a two-driver stereo design; compatible software processes game audio to create a wider, three-dimensional presentation. It can be especially effective in cinematic games, but the available controls depend on the host device and software.
PC users receive the broadest configuration options. PlayStation, Switch and other console users should not assume they will have the same iCUE and Dolby workflow available while playing on the console.

ANC was a new feature for Corsair’s gaming-headset range when the VIRTUOSO MAX launched. It is useful for reducing steady background sounds such as a fan, air conditioner or nearby household noise. It should not be treated as equivalent to the ANC in the best travel headphones, particularly for irregular voices and sudden sounds.
ANC can be disabled to conserve battery power. Its usefulness is therefore greatest for players who regularly game in a noisy room, not necessarily for everyone who wants the lowest possible weight or longest practical runtime.

iCUE and SoundID personalization
Corsair’s iCUE software provides equalizer controls, device settings, Dolby Atmos integration and SoundID personalization where supported. This makes the headset more configurable on PC, but it also creates a platform trade-off: console users cannot assume that PC software controls remain available directly on PlayStation, Switch or Steam Deck.

The 60-hour figure is a maximum manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed result. Volume, ANC and Bluetooth activity all affect runtime. The same qualification applies to Corsair’s claim that a 15-minute charge can provide up to six hours of use.

Xbox buying warning: select the VIRTUOSO MAX Wireless for Xbox. The standard model is not the correct choice for native wireless Xbox use. The two products are distinct platform-specific SKUs, not simply different packaging.
Platform compatibility
PC and Mac
The standard model is most capable on PC. Users can combine 2.4GHz wireless with Bluetooth, configure EQ and SoundID in iCUE, and use compatible Dolby Atmos features. This is the platform where the headset’s full software proposition makes the most sense.
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
The standard model can be used with PlayStation through its wireless USB transmitter or a wired connection. The console does not provide the same iCUE customization environment as a PC. A practical approach is to configure supported headset settings on a computer first, then use the PlayStation’s own audio and 3D-audio controls.

Xbox
Xbox users should buy the Xbox version. It is the platform-specific product and includes on-ear game/chat mixing controls. Do not treat the standard PC version as an equivalent wireless Xbox headset.
Nintendo Switch
Corsair lists the standard headset as compatible with Nintendo Switch in wired mode. That does not mean every Switch configuration provides the full wireless, iCUE or Dolby feature set.
Mobile devices
Bluetooth provides mobile connectivity. Simultaneous Bluetooth and 2.4GHz can let a player use game audio from a computer or console while staying connected to a phone for calls or notifications. It is best understood as a convenience feature, not a guarantee that two full-quality audio streams will mix identically on every device.
How it performs in practice
Reviews from Tom’s Hardware, PC Gamer, Windows Central and GamesRadar broadly describe the VIRTUOSO MAX as impressive for immersive audio, but less decisive as a value or competitive-FPS choice.
- Sound: The presentation is detailed and engaging for story-driven games, films and general media. The headset is not automatically the best choice for competitive shooters, where imaging and footstep separation may matter more than a cinematic presentation.
- Microphone: The detachable microphone is clearly suitable for gaming chat. Corsair’s “broadcast-grade” wording is promotional; it should not be confused with the performance of a dedicated broadcast microphone.
- ANC: It can reduce steady room noise, but it is not a substitute for premium travel-headphone ANC.
- Comfort: Reviews disagree. Some praised the padding and fit, while others criticized the rigid headband or clamp. Head size, glasses, hair and sensitivity to weight can change the experience substantially.
- Battery: The headline capacity is attractive, but actual runtime changes with ANC, volume and Bluetooth use.
- Software: iCUE gives PC owners substantial control, while console owners receive a more limited experience.
Current price and value
Corsair’s U.S. product page showed the standard VIRTUOSO MAX at $189.99 against an original price of $299.99 when crawled in 2026. That is a dated promotional observation, not a permanent price. Check the official product page before buying.

Near the original $299.99 MSRP, the headset is difficult to recommend purely for sound quality because alternatives compete strongly on audio, weight or value. At a substantial discount, its combination of ANC, simultaneous wireless connections, detachable microphone and PC software becomes much more compelling.

Who should buy the VIRTUOSO MAX?
Buy it if you want a premium headset for PC, PlayStation and mobile, regularly play in a noisy room, value simultaneous phone connectivity, prefer a detachable microphone, or mainly play cinematic and story-driven games. It is especially attractive if you already use Corsair iCUE products and find it at a meaningful discount.
Compare carefully or avoid it if you need the lightest possible headset, play competitive shooters above all else, want plug-and-play console customization without a PC, expect one identical SKU to provide native wireless support on both Xbox and PlayStation, or expect a broadcast-quality microphone.
The most important decision is not whether the graphene drivers sound impressive on paper. It is whether your platform supports the features you value and whether the price justifies the headset’s weight, fit and software dependence.
