Converge’s Pockitrod is a real, pen-shaped modular multitool—but it is not a miniature Leatherman. The Australian company markets it as an 11-in-1 system (some launch coverage says 10-in-1), combining a detachable 10-lumen light, replaceable cutting tips, 1/4-inch drivers, writing and stylus functions, a ruler and a magnetic end in a roughly 170 mm, 50 g body. Its appeal is exceptionally slim, configurable everyday carry; its trade-offs are limited leverage, no pliers or scissors, a very low-output flashlight and uncertain post-crowdfunding availability.
What the Pockitrod is
The Pockitrod uses a narrow aluminum central body and threaded, interchangeable modules instead of the folding handles found on conventional multitools. Fully equipped, it is about 6.7 in (170 mm) long, 0.47 in (12 mm) in diameter (excluding the clip) and approximately 1.76–1.8 oz (50 g). You can leave unused modules behind, carry selected ones on the included keychain companion, or configure the body for a specific job. Converge describes the system as containing more than 40 components.
The maker is an Australian company, and its own site presents the Pockitrod as a crowdfunded product moving through production and backer fulfillment. A patent application (2025900040) is listed by Converge; that should not be described as an issued patent.

10-in-1 versus 11-in-1: why the count changes
Converge calls the system 11-in-1, while some launch headlines call it 10-in-1. The discrepancy appears to be a counting convention: one inventory may combine the ruler, magnet, interchangeable tips, holders and individual bits, while another counts them separately. It is not evidence by itself that a function is missing.

Secondary coverage identifies 20CV steel for the cutting tips, but that specification should be treated as a product-presentation claim until production documentation confirms it.

The magnet will retrieve a suitable steel screw far more reliably than it will lift an arbitrary “1 kg object.” Paint, rust, rounded surfaces and sideways loads can reduce the result sharply. Keep magnets away from equipment where magnetic interference is a concern.

What it is realistically good for
- Package opening: useful for boxes and light materials, provided the cutting tip is legal and appropriate for your workplace.
- Close inspection: the detachable light can illuminate a lock, connector or cabinet interior. At 10 lumens it is not intended for navigating trails, searching a vehicle or lighting a room.
- Light screw work: standard 1/4-inch compatibility gives access to common bits, but the small diameter limits grip and leverage. There is no published torque specification.
- Retrieval: the magnetic end can pick up dropped ferrous screws and washers or hold the tool against a steel surface.
- Notes and screens: the graphite point and stylus are convenient backups, not substitutes for a good pen or dedicated stylus.
- Quick measuring: ruler markings are useful for estimates, not precision fabrication.
What it cannot replace
The Pockitrod has no pliers, wire cutters, scissors, saw, file, bottle opener or large knife. It also cannot substitute for a high-output flashlight, a full-size driver, ratchet or drill. Its aluminum construction and 1/4-inch interface do not establish heavy-duty capability; no independent impact, torque, waterproofing or long-term retention tests were found.

Leaving the cutting module at home can make the tool more workplace-friendly; carrying only a driver, light and magnet can keep the pocket load minimal. The cost is management: small modules can be misplaced, and the right part may be on the keychain or in a drawer when an unexpected task appears. Build a repeatable carry setup rather than assuming every function will always be attached.

The three LR41 cells are another compromise. Button batteries are compact but less convenient to source and handle than common AA or AAA cells. Confirm the production battery compartment, included cells and replacement guidance before relying on the light.

As of August 18, 2026, Converge’s official site says production and fulfillment for backers are the priority and that the Pockitrod is expected to reach the company’s store afterward. A current retail price, stock status, shipping geography, warranty terms and replacement-tip program were not confirmed in the available official material. Do not assume a normal “buy now” retail path until those details appear.
Historical launch reports mentioned a full pledge around AU$165 (about US$115) and expected pricing near US$99. Those are campaign or launch figures, not a confirmed permanent retail price. The campaign-tracking page is useful for the funding record, but not for warranty or fulfillment guarantees.

Who should consider it?
The Pockitrod makes sense if you want a pen-like object, very low weight, selectable modules, a backup light, a ruler, stylus and writing tip, and standard 1/4-inch bit compatibility. It is especially plausible as a light-duty EDC accessory for technicians, gadget users and people who frequently open packages or retrieve small metal parts.
Choose a conventional plier-based multitool if your work involves gripping, wire cutting, scissors, files, saws, leverage or a larger blade. Choose a dedicated flashlight and screwdriver when brightness or torque matters more than integration. Buyers who need immediate delivery, mature warranty support or readily available replacement parts should wait for verified retail stock or choose an established brand.
Bottom line
The Converge Pockitrod is best understood as a specialized minimalist EDC system, not an all-purpose multitool. Its modular 50-gram format and unusual accessories are genuinely distinctive, while the 10-lumen light, limited leverage, missing pliers and crowdfunding-era uncertainty define its boundaries. Consider it when slim configurable carry is the priority; otherwise, a proven multitool or separate compact tools will do more work with less compromise.
