In Windows 11 il metodo dipende dal tipo di account. Se usi un account Microsoft, devi modificare il nome visualizzato online; per un account locale puoi usare il Pannello di controllo. Su un account aziendale o scolastico potrebbe essere necessario l’intervento dell’amministratore IT.
Questa procedura cambia il nome mostrato in Windows, ma non rinomina automaticamente la cartella C:UsersNome, non cambia la password, il PIN, il nome del PC o i privilegi amministrativi.
Prima verifica: quale tipo di account stai usando?
- Apri Impostazioni.
- Vai in Account.
- Seleziona Le tue info.
Se vedi un indirizzo e-mail e i riferimenti a un account Microsoft, segui la prima procedura. Se compare la dicitura Account locale, usa il Pannello di controllo. Se l’account appartiene a un’organizzazione, consulta la sezione dedicata agli account aziendali.
Nella stessa pagina puoi verificare se sotto il nome compare la dicitura Amministratore. Questo è il livello di autorizzazione dell’account, non il suo nome: rinominare l’account non modifica i privilegi.

Account Microsoft personale: modifica il nome online
Per un account Microsoft personale, il nome visualizzato in Windows viene gestito dalla pagina del profilo Microsoft.
- Apri la pagina Microsoft Come cambiare il nome dell’account.
- Accedi con lo stesso account Microsoft utilizzato sul PC.
- Seleziona l’opzione per modificare il nome.
- Inserisci il nuovo nome e completa, se richiesto, la verifica CAPTCHA.
- Salva la modifica.
- Disconnettiti da Windows o riavvia il PC per verificare il risultato.
Microsoft indica che la modifica può richiedere fino a 24 ore per propagarsi a tutti i servizi. Se il vecchio nome resta visibile subito dopo il salvataggio, non significa necessariamente che la procedura sia fallita.

- la password;
- il PIN di Windows Hello;
- la cartella del profilo in
C:Users; - il ruolo di amministratore;
- il gamertag Xbox.
Evita inoltre caratteri non standard o provenienti da font particolari: Microsoft avverte che alcuni caratteri possono creare problemi di accesso.
Account locale: usa il Pannello di controllo
Per un account locale, la procedura supportata da Microsoft passa dal Pannello di controllo:
- Apri Start e cerca Pannello di controllo.
- Apri il Pannello di controllo.
- Seleziona Account utente.
- Se viene mostrata la vista per categorie, seleziona nuovamente Account utente.
- Fai clic su Modifica il nome dell’account.
- Inserisci il nuovo nome e conferma.
- Disconnettiti o riavvia Windows.
Il nome deve essere distinto da quello degli altri account locali presenti sul dispositivo. Se stai modificando un altro account, potresti dover accedere con un account amministratore diverso.

Se l’opzione Modifica il nome dell’account non compare, verifica nuovamente il tipo di account in Impostazioni → Account → Le tue info: potresti usare un account Microsoft, un account gestito dall’organizzazione oppure non avere le autorizzazioni necessarie.

Un account collegato al lavoro o alla scuola può essere gestito da Microsoft Entra ID, da un dominio Windows o da criteri dell’organizzazione.
- Verifica se puoi modificare il nome dal portale dell’account aziendale o scolastico.
- Se l’opzione non è disponibile, contatta l’amministratore IT.
- Non forzare la modifica tramite Registro di sistema o strumenti avanzati se il PC è gestito dall’organizzazione.
Alcune organizzazioni impediscono agli utenti di cambiare il proprio nome. Anche quando la modifica è consentita, può richiedere fino a 24 ore per propagarsi.

Attenzione alla cartella C:Users
Il nome visualizzato dell’account e il nome tecnico della cartella del profilo sono elementi distinti. Cambiare il primo non richiede di rinominare il secondo.
Non rinominare manualmente la cartella in C:Users e non modificare il Registro di sistema solo per eliminare un vecchio nome dalla schermata di accesso. Un intervento errato può rompere percorsi delle applicazioni, collegamenti, impostazioni personali e profili cloud.
Se il problema riguarda un profilo danneggiato o serve davvero un nuovo percorso tecnico, l’approccio più prudente indicato da Microsoft è creare un nuovo account, configurarlo come amministratore e trasferire i dati. Consulta la guida Microsoft per correggere un profilo utente danneggiato.

Se il vecchio nome continua a comparire
- Verifica di aver modificato l’account Microsoft corretto.
- Salva il lavoro e disconnettiti da Windows.
- Riavvia il computer.
- Per un account Microsoft, attendi fino a 24 ore.
- Controlla se il vecchio nome compare soltanto in una specifica applicazione.
- Su un PC aziendale, verifica con l’amministratore IT eventuali criteri di gestione.
Account Microsoft, account locale e account aziendale possono avere nomi gestiti in punti diversi. Per questo il nome può aggiornarsi in Windows ma restare temporaneamente invariato in un’app o in un servizio online.
Quando conviene creare un nuovo account?
Non è necessario creare un nuovo account per correggere il nome visualizzato. È una soluzione più impegnativa, da considerare soprattutto se il profilo è danneggiato, se serve separare completamente i dati o se occorre un nuovo profilo tecnico.
Prima di rimuovere il vecchio account:
- esegui un backup dei documenti e dei dati importanti;
- crea il nuovo account;
- configuralo come amministratore, se necessario;
- accedi con il nuovo profilo;
- copia e verifica i file dal vecchio profilo;
- riconfigura le applicazioni e accedi nuovamente ai servizi che lo richiedono;
- rimuovi il vecchio account solo dopo aver verificato che tutto funzioni.
Microsoft segnala che alcune applicazioni possono dover essere riconfigurate o reinstallate e che potrebbe essere necessario accedere di nuovo alle app del Microsoft Store.
Se dopo la modifica non riesci ad accedere
La modifica del nome non dovrebbe cambiare la password. Se l’accesso non riesce:
- per un account Microsoft, usa le procedure di recupero indicate nella guida Microsoft per cambiare o reimpostare la password;
- per un account locale, seleziona Reimposta password nella schermata di accesso e rispondi alle domande di sicurezza, se configurate.
Non usare modifiche al Registro o strumenti di terze parti per aggirare una password locale dimenticata.
Conclusione
Per cambiare il nome dell’amministratore in Windows 11 non servono normalmente PowerShell, Prompt dei comandi o Registro di sistema. Identifica prima il tipo di account: modifica online il nome di un account Microsoft, usa il Pannello di controllo per un account locale e rivolgiti all’IT per un account aziendale o scolastico. Il nome della cartella del profilo, invece, va lasciato invariato salvo esigenze tecniche specifiche.
