Tubi announced that all three films would begin streaming free with ads on December 1, 2025. However, the latest official Tubi pages for each title now display “content unavailable,” so the announcement should be treated as historical rather than proof that the films are currently playable in the United States.
Which superhero trilogy is the headline about?
It is Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, commonly known as the Dark Knight trilogy—not the Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer films, the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, the Captain America films, Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, or the animated Dark Knight Returns movies.

Why is it called the highest-rated superhero trilogy?
“Highest-rated superhero trilogy of all time” is a description used in entertainment coverage, not an official industry ranking. There is no single agreed-upon method for comparing every superhero trilogy.
The claim is nevertheless understandable. Nolan’s trilogy combines strong critical reception across all three films with unusually sustained audience enthusiasm, especially for The Dark Knight. It also tells a complete three-film story instead of continuing indefinitely, and its grounded crime-thriller approach influenced how studios and audiences viewed comic-book movies.
The trilogy’s reputation is supported by its performances, including Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Heath Ledger as the Joker, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred, Tom Hardy as Bane, and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. A more accurate description is that the Dark Knight trilogy is widely regarded as one of the most highly rated superhero trilogies ever made.
Tubi was the new free streaming home in December 2025
Tubi is Fox Corporation’s ad-supported streaming service. According to Tubi’s Help Center, its movies and shows are free to watch because the service is funded by advertising. Tubi says it does not charge a subscription fee or require credit-card information.
The official announcement placed all three Nolan Batman films in Tubi’s free lineup beginning December 1, 2025. That is the date readers should associate with the “new streaming home” headline. It does not mean the films are guaranteed to remain in the catalog.

Current availability is not confirmed—and the official pages currently indicate that the films are unavailable. The Tubi pages for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises each display “content unavailable.”
That could reflect an expired licensing window, a U.S. catalog change, regional restrictions, or an indexed title page that remains online after the rights have changed. Whatever the reason, an old article or search result is not enough to establish that playback is available now.
For U.S. viewers, the safest conclusion is: Tubi added the complete trilogy for free with ads on December 1, 2025, but the latest official title pages do not confirm that the offer is still active. Availability outside the United States may differ and has not been established here.
What “free” means on Tubi
Free does not mean commercial-free. Tubi’s model uses advertising breaks during viewing. The service can be useful for viewers who want to avoid a monthly subscription, but the experience is different from owning a disc or purchasing a digital copy.

- Batman Begins — Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham and begins the transformation into Batman.
- The Dark Knight — Batman faces the Joker while Gotham’s fragile order starts to collapse.
- The Dark Knight Rises — Years later, Bruce Wayne is drawn into one final threat to Gotham.
Release order is also chronological and is the intended way to experience the trilogy. If a service offers only one or two titles, do not assume the other films are included; streaming licenses can apply separately to each movie.
What to check before planning a marathon
- Check the country: Rights vary by territory. The availability discussion here is U.S.-focused.
- Check the date: The original Tubi offer began December 1, 2025, and streaming catalogs can change.
- Check all three titles: Search for each film separately rather than assuming the whole trilogy is included.
