CapCut—not TikTok or Shein—led Brazil’s most-downloaded apps in June 2024, with an estimated 6.2 million downloads. TikTok ranked third with 5 million, while Shein placed sixth with 3.4 million, according to AppMagic estimates reported by Mobile Time.
Brazil’s top 10 app downloads in June 2024
The ranking combined estimated downloads from the Apple App Store and Google Play. It was a measure of downloads during the month, not a ranking of the apps with the most users overall.

CapCut’s jump put it in first place
CapCut rose from fifth place and an estimated 3.9 million downloads in May to 6.2 million in June—a month-over-month increase of about 59%. The increase is consistent with strong interest in short-form video creation, but the published ranking does not establish a specific cause.

CapCut and TikTok are separate apps with separate counts, even though both are associated with ByteDance. CapCut’s lead should not be read as TikTok’s download total or as proof that a particular TikTok trend drove the increase.
TikTok placed third, not first
TikTok’s estimated 5 million downloads put it about 500,000 behind Instagram and 1.2 million behind CapCut. It was roughly 600,000 ahead of fourth-place Mercado Livre. That makes it one of the leading performers in the month’s download snapshot, but not the list’s overall leader.
Shein ranked sixth, just behind gov.br
Shein recorded an estimated 3.4 million downloads, narrowly below gov.br’s 3.5 million and above WhatsApp’s 3.3 million. It was also slightly ahead of Shopee, which had about 3 million downloads; Mercado Livre, a broader marketplace, ranked fourth at 4.4 million.

The top 10 covered several kinds of services: video creation (CapCut), social and messaging apps (Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp), marketplaces (Mercado Livre, Shein and Shopee), government services (gov.br), fintech (Nubank), and gaming (Manage Supermarket Simulator). The spread shows that new installations came from more than entertainment and shopping alone; it does not establish which category had the most active users or revenue.
gov.br fell from an estimated 4.3 million downloads in May to 3.5 million in June, a decline of about 19%. That is a month-to-month change in estimated downloads—not evidence of falling use of government services or fewer registered users. Manage Supermarket Simulator and Shopee were both reported at approximately 3 million; because the totals are rounded, that displayed match should not be treated as an exact tie.
What the download estimates can—and cannot—tell you
AppMagic supplied the estimates reported by Mobile Time and reproduced by TecMundo. The totals combine the Apple App Store and Google Play, so this is not an iPhone-only chart or a Google Play-only chart. The reports do not provide a platform-by-platform breakdown or enough methodological detail to establish a precise distinction between first-time installations and reinstalls, or between organic and paid downloads.

Use the ranking as a snapshot of estimated download volume in Brazil during June 2024. It does not measure monthly active users, an app’s total installed base, time spent, revenue, sales, or downloads later in the year. A separate June 2026 ranking, for example, had a different leader, underscoring why the year matters whenever a monthly chart is cited.
One related figure can also be easy to misattribute: the report’s 388-place rise to 11th concerned Temu, not Shein. Shein was sixth in the June 2024 top 10.
