The right Tinder fix depends on what happens after you tap Log In. A missing verification code, changed phone number, crashing app, incorrect sign-in method, ban, suspension, or hacked account each requires a different solution. Start by matching the message or behavior you see to the troubleshooting path below—and avoid creating a new account until you know what happened to the original one.
First, identify the problem

This table is a triage guide, not a definitive diagnosis. Tinder’s labels and available login methods can vary by device, language, market, and app version.
Try Tinder’s account-recovery option
If you changed your phone number or lost access to Facebook, use the email associated with your Tinder account:
- Open Tinder.com.
- Select Log In.
- Choose Trouble Logging In?
- Select Login With Email.
- Enter the email address associated with the Tinder account.
The exact wording may differ slightly on your device. This recovery route depends on access to the correct account email. If you cannot access that email, submit a request through Tinder’s official support form. Contact support from the associated email where possible; using a different address can make some requests harder to process.

If Tinder does not send an SMS code
Tinder requires SMS verification for phone-number login. Try these steps:
- Confirm that you entered the correct phone number and country code.
- Make sure cellular data is enabled and the phone has a strong signal.
- Check that the phone can receive ordinary text messages.
- Ask your carrier whether messages to the number are blocked, particularly after changing carriers or while roaming.
- Temporarily check any SMS-filtering or spam-blocking feature.
- Wait before requesting another code. Tinder says delivery can sometimes be delayed for several hours.
- If several codes arrive, use the newest one.
Never give a Tinder verification code to someone claiming to be support. If SMS still does not arrive, contact Tinder through its official support channel and your mobile provider. Tinder does not guarantee a fixed delivery time or an on-demand bypass of SMS verification.
If the verification email does not arrive
- Check that the email address is spelled correctly.
- Use the email associated with the Tinder account—not merely any email signed in on your phone.
- Check Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders.
- Remember that Tinder’s email field may be case-sensitive.
- Wait briefly and request a new message if necessary, then use the newest link or code.
Tinder says one email address can be verified on only one Tinder account at a time. An “email already associated with another account” message can mean that you are using the wrong credentials, have a duplicate account, or accidentally entered an account-creation flow instead of logging in. Confirm that you are using the original login method
Try the phone number linked to the account, including its country code. If you originally connected Tinder to Apple or Google, use that same Apple or Google account. If you used Facebook, use Tinder’s email recovery route if you no longer have Facebook access.
Do not assume that switching to any available email or social account will open the original profile. An incorrect method can lead to a new or empty account, making matches, messages, and subscription recognition appear to be missing. Avoid repeatedly creating accounts while you troubleshoot.
If Tinder crashes, freezes, or keeps returning to the login screen
- Force-close Tinder and open it again.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Check whether other websites and apps work on the same connection.
- Update Tinder through the official App Store or Google Play Store.
- Restart your phone.
- Delete and reinstall Tinder.
- Try signing in at Tinder.com.
If Tinder.com works but the app does not, the problem is more likely app- or device-specific. If both fail with the same account message, record the exact wording and contact Tinder. Reinstalling can refresh an app, but it cannot fix a ban, suspension, inaccessible recovery email, disabled phone number, carrier-level SMS issue, or account-side restriction. It also does not cancel a subscription.

How to tell whether Tinder is down
Do not assume a generic error proves that Tinder is experiencing a service-wide outage. Compare the behavior across Wi-Fi and mobile data, try Tinder.com, and check whether other services work. If the same failure occurs in both the app and browser for multiple users, a service problem becomes more plausible; if only your device or account fails, troubleshoot locally or contact support. The available help information does not establish a live outage on any particular date.

If Tinder says your account is banned
A ban is not an ordinary login problem. Tinder says banned users receive a notice and cannot continue using Tinder or create new accounts. Read the in-app notice and any email from Tinder, then use the Appeal Center if you believe the decision was wrong.
Use the original account details, explain why the action may be mistaken, and include relevant facts. Do not repeatedly reinstall the app or create replacement accounts. Tinder does not promise that an appeal will succeed or that it will disclose all enforcement evidence.

If Tinder says your account is suspended
Tinder currently says a suspended account can return after six months and may be appealed through the Appeal Center. That is different from a technical login failure and different from a ban. Follow the notice attached to your account and treat the six-month statement as Tinder’s current policy, since enforcement procedures can change.

Possible warning signs include messages you did not send, photos you did not upload, unexpected profile changes, login codes you did not request, or sudden loss of access.

- Do not click recovery links sent by strangers or unofficial “support” accounts.
- Secure the email account associated with Tinder and change its password if compromise is possible.
- Use Tinder’s official recovery route and contact customer support.
- After regaining access, check your photos, profile details, and recent messages for unauthorized changes.
Recovery is not guaranteed, and a phone number alone does not prove account ownership. Provide Tinder with the clearest evidence you have.

What to include in a Tinder support request
Describe the problem precisely instead of writing only “I cannot log in.” Include:
- The exact error message or a screenshot
- The email address associated with the account
- The phone number, including country code
- Your device model
- Your iOS or Android version
- Your Tinder app version, if available
- Whether SMS or email verification is affected
- Whether Tinder.com works
- Whether you changed your phone number, email, or sign-in method
- The approximate date and time the problem began
- Any evidence of unauthorized messages, photos, or profile changes
Do not include passwords or verification codes. Tinder’s support form may request screenshots, device information, operating-system details, and account contact information.
Subscription problems are separate from login problems
Being unable to log in does not automatically cancel a Tinder subscription, and deleting the app does not cancel billing. Subscription cancellation, restoration, refunds, and account access are separate processes. If you subscribed through Apple or Android, manage cancellation through the relevant platform’s subscription controls or Tinder’s billing guidance. If your account was banned, Tinder says iPhone and Android subscribers must cancel the subscription themselves.
