Yes, but only for supported streamed games. Sony’s PlayStation Plus PC app lets you copy saves between PlayStation Plus online storage and game-streaming storage while playing an eligible streamed game. It does not provide a general PC file browser for downloading PS4 or PS5 saves into a Windows folder. If you want a console save in a native PC game, that game must separately support cross-progression.
What “PlayStation cloud storage on PC” means
Three kinds of saves are easy to confuse:
- PlayStation Plus online storage holds PS4 and PS5 saved data for use with PlayStation consoles.
- Game-streaming storage holds save data for games streamed through the PlayStation Plus PC app. Sony documents copying saves between this storage and online storage using the streamed game’s save-management controls (Sony’s save-transfer guide).
- Native PC game saves are files managed by a PC game and its platform or publisher. PlayStation Plus online storage does not automatically expose or sync these files.
Sony’s published consumer workflows describe console-to-console cloud-save management and PC transfers for streamed games—not a general-purpose PC dashboard for browsing or exporting console saves (PS5 cloud storage; streamed-game transfers).

What you need for the supported PC workflow
- The PlayStation Plus PC app and an adult PlayStation account.
- PlayStation Plus Premium in a region where the relevant PC-streaming feature is available. Sony lists cloud streaming as a Premium benefit; individual games and features can vary by region and catalog (U.S. plan comparison; games catalog).
- A game that is available to stream and provides the relevant save-management option.
- A compatible controller and broadband connection. Sony’s PC support page lists a minimum connection speed of 5 Mbps and notes that Party Chat is not supported in the PC app. Check the live page for its current system requirements and compatibility details: PlayStation Plus on PC.
The app streams eligible catalog games from Sony’s service. It is not Remote Play, which streams from your own PS4 or PS5 console.

Move a console save into a streamed PC game
First ensure the save is uploaded from the console to PlayStation Plus online storage. Automatic upload or sync must be enabled and the console needs a network connection; to avoid relying on an unfinished sync, you can upload manually.

Upload from PS5
- On PS5, open Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
- Select Saved Data (PS5) or Saved Data (PS4).
- Select Upload or Delete from Console Storage, then open the Upload to Cloud Storage tab.
- Select the save and choose Upload. See Sony’s PS5 cloud-storage instructions.
Upload from PS4
- Open Settings > Application Data Management.
- Select Saved Data in System Storage > Upload to Online Storage.
- Select the game and save file, then confirm the upload. Check the overwrite prompt carefully. Sony’s PS4 online-storage guide describes this workflow.
Copy the online save into streaming storage
- Open the PlayStation Plus PC app and start streaming the relevant game.
- Open the game’s save-management menu. The available controls vary by game.
- Press the controller’s PS button and select Application Saved Data Management.
- Select Saved Data in Online Storage > Copy to Game Streaming Storage, then choose the save.
- Resume or launch the streamed game and check whether the expected progress appears.
Sony documents this transfer in its save-transfer instructions. It copies data into the streaming environment; it does not create a save file in a Windows folder.
Move a streamed-game save back to PlayStation online storage
- In the PlayStation Plus PC app, stream the game containing the save.
- Open the game’s save-management menu, press the controller’s PS button, and select Application Saved Data Management.
- Select Saved Data in Game Streaming Storage > Copy to Online Storage.
- Choose the relevant save and confirm the copy.
- On your console, download or sync the save using that console’s cloud-storage controls.
The exact in-game menu can differ, and the option may not be available for every title. This process moves a save between PlayStation online storage and streaming storage; it is not an export to PC. See Sony’s instructions.

Can you download a PS4 or PS5 cloud save to Windows?
Not through Sony’s documented consumer workflow. Sony’s console instructions download cloud data to console storage, while its PC instructions copy data into game-streaming storage. They do not describe downloading a PS4 or PS5 cloud save as a normal file to a Windows directory.
Download to a PS5
- Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
- Select Saved Data (PS5) or Saved Data (PS4).
- Choose Download or Delete from Cloud Storage > Download to console storage.
- Select the save and choose Download. The options are documented in Sony’s PS5 cloud-storage guide.
Download to a PS4
- Highlight the game in the Library and press OPTIONS.
- Select Upload/Download Saved Data.
- Select the save and choose Download, following the prompt. See Sony’s PS4 online-storage guide.
Will a PlayStation save work in the PC version of the game?
Not automatically. PlayStation Plus cloud storage is for PlayStation saved data; it does not convert a console save into a native PC game save. Cross-progression is a separate feature controlled by the individual game or publisher. Depending on the title, progress may transfer fully, require a linked publisher account, work only between certain versions, or not transfer at all. Check that game’s current cross-progression instructions before buying or launching the PC version.

Which PlayStation Plus plan is enough?
Sony lists cloud storage with Essential, Extra, and Premium, while cloud streaming is a Premium benefit. This U.S. comparison reflects Sony’s plan listings; benefits and availability can vary by country.

Sony lists 100 GB each for PS5 and PS4 saved data, with PS4 online storage limited to 1,000 saved-data files (PlayStation Plus support; PS5 cloud-storage guide). Cloud storage is a Plus benefit, not a general-purpose drive for game installations, screenshots, video clips, or arbitrary PC files. If you only need console backups, Essential includes that benefit; Premium matters when you also want the PC streaming workflow.

Keep PS5 and PS4 cloud saves current
PS5 automatic sync
- Go to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode and enable Stay Connected to the Internet.
- Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings, then choose Saved Data (PS5) > Sync Saved Data > Auto-Sync Saved Data.
- Turn on Enable Auto-Sync. For PS4 games on PS5, select Saved Data (PS4) in the same settings area and enable Auto-Upload.
Sony notes that PS5 saved data can sync in both directions with the latest data; PS4 saves uploaded from a PS4 or PS5 setup may need to be downloaded manually to PS5 storage. See the PS5 guide.

- Go to Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode and enable Stay Connected to the Internet.
- Go to Settings > Application Data Management > Auto-Upload and enable automatic uploads. Sony’s PlayStation support instructions cover PS4 automatic uploads.
Troubleshoot a missing save or a conflict
The streamed game does not show the save
- On the console, confirm the save exists locally and check its timestamp. Upload it manually if the cloud copy may be older.
- Make sure the console and PC app use the same PlayStation account.
- Confirm the game is being streamed through the PlayStation Plus PC app and is the relevant edition or version.
- Reopen the game’s save-management menu. The menu varies by title, and not every game necessarily offers the same transfer options.
The app has no save-management option
- Verify that you are streaming an eligible game, not running a native PC installation or using Remote Play.
- Connect a compatible controller and press its PS button to open the documented management controls.
- Check whether the game has created or recognized save data and whether its menu supports this transfer.
The cloud save looks older than the console save
Do not download the cloud copy until you have checked timestamps. If the newer local save still exists, upload it first. Sony’s PS4 workflow warns about overwriting saved data; choose overwrite prompts only after identifying which copy you want to keep (PS4 online-storage guide).
You need a local PC backup or native PC progress
Sony’s documented PC workflow does not provide a normal Windows-file export for console cloud saves. If you need a local backup, use supported console backup options and verify the current instructions for your console and save type. If your goal is continuing in a PC-native game, check that game publisher’s cross-progression support instead of treating PlayStation cloud storage as a PC save folder.
