There is no clearly established Bright Data product officially named “Proxy Saver.” Bright Data describes Proxy Manager, which can route requests through different proxy networks using rules, and a 2023 company report described Cache Proxy, which could return cached results for identical requests. Separately, Scrapfly sells its own product called Proxy Saver and says it works with Bright Data. These are different products, and none guarantees a particular saving: whether costs fall depends on your request patterns, freshness needs, routing choices, and billing terms.
What “Bright Data Proxy Saver” can mean
The name is ambiguous. Bright Data’s official product material describes Proxy Manager, a tool for managing proxy traffic with rules, routing, metrics, and logs. A Bright Data impact report published in 2023 also described a feature called Cache Proxy. Neither source establishes a current Bright Data product officially named “Proxy Saver.”
Scrapfly Proxy Saver is a separate, third-party middleware product. Scrapfly describes it as a way to reduce traffic sent to an upstream proxy through caching and other optimizations, and says it supports Bright Data. That does not make Proxy Saver a Bright Data product, and Scrapfly’s feature descriptions are vendor claims rather than independent performance findings.
So the practical question is not how to turn on a single product called Bright Data Proxy Saver. It is which cost-control mechanism, if any, fits your workflow: Bright Data’s routing rules, caching repeated results where available, or third-party middleware.

How Bright Data Proxy Manager routing may affect costs
Bright Data describes Proxy Manager as software for managing proxies, with access and country-targeting controls, request logs, and automated rules. Its waterfall rotations can route requests through four proxy networks; custom rules let an operator choose how requests are handled.
That can help you avoid sending every request through a route that is more costly than the task requires. For example, a workflow might use a particular network or targeting configuration only when the task calls for it, while routing other requests differently. This is a planning example, not a guaranteed Bright Data configuration or a promised discount: the available routes, their suitability, and their prices depend on your account and current terms.
- Match route to task. Check whether a less costly route can still meet the request’s geography, access, and reliability requirements.
- Use rules deliberately. Map your rules to real workload differences rather than applying one route indiscriminately.
- Inspect logs and usage. Proxy Manager’s request logs and metrics can help you understand how traffic is being handled; compare that with the billing unit and invoice for your plan.
Bright Data says custom rules can reduce costs, but its product description does not establish a universal percentage reduction. Routing is useful only if the selected network and settings still produce results acceptable for your task.

How caching can reduce repeated proxy traffic
Caching can reduce upstream requests when a workflow asks for the same eligible content repeatedly. In its 2023 impact report, Bright Data described Cache Proxy as sharing cached successful results when customers make identical requests. The report said cached results were no more than two hours old, that only successful responses obtained through proxy networks were cached, and that cache-enabled proxy use received pricing discounts.

When caching is a plausible fit
- The same eligible requests recur often enough that cached responses could replace a meaningful amount of upstream traffic.
- The task can tolerate a response that may be up to two hours old, if the historical terms still apply.
- Your application can accept the returned cached content without requiring a fresh fetch on every request.
When caching may not help
- Most requests are unique, so there are few repeat hits.
- The data must be current at the time of every request.
- Your request variations mean that otherwise similar URLs or inputs do not count as identical requests.
- The response or use case is not eligible under the current service rules.
Bright Data’s report said Cache Proxy results were “20 times faster than usual requests.” That is Bright Data’s 2023 claim about its feature, not an independently verified benchmark or a general performance guarantee. Speed and cost are separate questions: a cached response can reduce upstream work, but your actual bill depends on the current feature terms and what your plan charges for.

Where Scrapfly Proxy Saver fits
Scrapfly describes Proxy Saver as middleware between a client and an upstream proxy. Its documentation describes shared caching and other optimization features, while its bandwidth article says it works with major proxy providers, including Bright Data. These statements describe Scrapfly’s own product; they do not establish independent savings or performance results for a particular Bright Data customer.
Consider middleware only after checking what it does to requests and responses in your workflow. Caching or filtering can change which requests reach the upstream provider or whether a fresh response is fetched. That may be acceptable for repeated, cacheable data, but inappropriate when the task depends on a fresh fetch or exact upstream behavior. Confirm compatibility, current features, and billing implications with both providers before adopting it.

| Approach | Mechanism | Best question to ask | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bright Data Proxy Manager rules and routing | Route traffic through proxy networks using rules and waterfall rotations. | Can a different route meet this task’s targeting and reliability requirements at a better current price? | Bright Data describes the controls and says rules can reduce costs; no universal savings figure is established. |
| Bright Data Cache Proxy | Serve cached successful results for identical requests, according to Bright Data’s 2023 impact report. | Do identical eligible requests recur, and can the workflow accept the available freshness? | The report’s two-hour maximum age and pricing discount are historical terms; confirm current availability and conditions. |
| Scrapfly Proxy Saver | Third-party middleware that Scrapfly says uses caching and other optimizations before traffic reaches an upstream proxy. | Does the middleware’s behavior fit the workflow, and what does it change about traffic and responses? | It is not a Bright Data product; savings and performance for your workload are not independently established here. |
Before choosing, establish four facts about your workload and account:
Rank #4
- Repeat rate: measure how often the same eligible request occurs, rather than assuming caching will be useful.
- Freshness requirement: define how old a response can be before it is no longer useful.
- Route requirements: document required geography, access, and reliability so that a cost-focused route does not undermine the task.
- Billing basis: verify whether charges are based on transferred data, IPs, or another unit, and check current discounts and plan terms.
Bright Data’s residential pricing page describes bandwidth-based plans and displayed offers; its shared proxy page describes charges based on transferred traffic. These are different billing contexts, and prices or promotions can change. Check the live terms for the specific proxy product and plan you use rather than applying one pricing model to every Bright Data service.

A cost change is useful only if the workflow still returns data that meets its requirements. Compare the same workload before and after a routing or caching change. Track request volume, transferred traffic, repeated-request share, response freshness, successful results, and the billed unit shown by your provider. Keep the comparison specific to the product, plan, and time period: the available sources do not establish a standard savings percentage for Proxy Manager, Cache Proxy, or Scrapfly Proxy Saver.
For a caching trial, distinguish cache hits from misses and check whether a hit is fresh enough for the task. For routing changes, check that country targeting and access outcomes remain suitable. For middleware, check whether its filtering or response handling changes what the application receives. If the data quality or freshness becomes unacceptable, the apparent traffic reduction is not a successful cost saving.

Pricing and reliability considerations
Proxy cost depends on the product and plan, not just the name of the network. Bright Data’s residential pricing page shows bandwidth-based plans and currently displayed offers, while its shared proxy page describes charges based on transferred traffic. The sources do not provide a stable price comparison across these products, and displayed offers may change. Check the current pricing page and the terms that apply to your account.
Do not estimate savings from request counts alone when the charge is based on transferred data: response sizes and repeated content matter. Likewise, an advertised discount for cache-enabled use only affects the calculation if the feature remains offered to your account and your requests qualify. Include any third-party middleware charges in a total-cost comparison rather than looking only at upstream proxy traffic.
ScreenshotNeo is for screenshot capture, not proxy-cost reduction
ScreenshotNeo is a separate website screenshot API and MCP server, not a Bright Data proxy-cost tool or a replacement for Proxy Manager, Cache Proxy, or Scrapfly Proxy Saver. If your actual task is capturing clean website screenshots rather than routing proxy traffic, it is an alternative to try first: it removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots—not bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, or cache hits. Its MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools, and its free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. See ScreenshotNeo.
