Bluehost India can suit beginners, small businesses and modest WordPress sites that want hosting, site-building tools and support in one package. But the advertised monthly rate is not the whole cost: the current plan table shows 36-month introductory terms, prices before GST and substantially higher renewal rates. Official pages also show different offers, so treat any discount—including “save 70%”—as a promotion to verify at checkout, not a guaranteed price.
For a first small site, Starter may be enough; Business is the more practical step up for several sites and its advertised security features. Choose eCommerce Essentials only if you need its WooCommerce-related tools and have checked the extra costs. If you need guaranteed resources, root access or confirmed India-based hosting, shared hosting may not be the right fit.

They are monthly equivalents for an initial 36-month term, shown before GST—not necessarily the amount charged monthly. Bluehost’s official India pages display materially different prices, so confirm the selected plan, term and full checkout total before paying.

These are shared-hosting plans: multiple customers’ sites use provider-managed server infrastructure. That usually makes hosting simpler and cheaper than a VPS or dedicated server, but the plans do not provide a dedicated allocation of server resources. The website counts and visit estimates should not be mistaken for independently tested capacity or guaranteed performance.
What each plan includes
Starter: for a first site or a small portfolio
Starter lists up to 10 websites, 10 GB of NVMe storage, SSL, a CDN, caching, managed WordPress updates, staging, SSH and WP-CLI. The feature table also lists AI site-creation tools, a migration tool, malware scanning and weekly backups. Eligible terms include a domain for the first year. The visible Starter feature list does not include phone support.
Although the page positions the plan for one website, its table lists capacity for more. That does not mean each site gets separate storage or computing resources: all sites in the account share the plan’s allowance. Ten gigabytes can be limiting if you host large image, video or backup libraries. Bluehost’s “up to 40,000 visits” figure is guidance, not a traffic guarantee; page weight, caching, plugins, database activity, concurrent visitors and resource-use policies all affect capacity.

Business lists up to 50 websites and 50 GB of NVMe storage, with phone support. Its advertised features include AI-powered malware detection and removal, a web application firewall (WAF), DDoS protection, weekly backups, CDN, caching, managed WordPress updates, staging, SSH and WP-CLI. The plan also lists domain privacy for the first year. These additions can be useful to a small agency or a growing business, but Business remains shared hosting—not a dedicated or isolated server.
Bluehost’s stated capacity of up to 200,000 visits per month is an estimate, not a promise that every site will handle that volume smoothly. Check how the protections are scoped, what restoration options backups provide and what happens to domain privacy after its first year.
eCommerce Essentials: for a store that will use the commerce bundle
This plan lists up to 100 websites, 100 GB of storage, phone support and a provider-estimated capacity of up to 400,000 monthly visits. It includes secure payment processing, WooCommerce auto-install and tools for product subscriptions and visitor memberships. The expanded commerce bundle lists integrations and tools for services such as PayPal, Stripe and Razorpay, along with marketing, bookings, shipping, reviews, search and product add-ons.
Do not read “eCommerce” as unlimited commerce features or a promise that every extra is free indefinitely. Bluehost says its Commerce Solution applies to one website; additional sites require additional purchases. Payment-gateway charges, transaction fees, taxes, shipping, extensions and third-party subscriptions can add to the hosting cost. Confirm which tools are included, which are trials and which renew separately before building a store around them.
Is Bluehost India fast?
The plans list NVMe storage, caching and a CDN, and Bluehost promotes global data centers and managed WordPress updates. These can help, but a sales page cannot establish that Bluehost is “the fastest” for your site. Actual loading speed depends on the site’s theme and plugins, image sizes, database, caching setup, third-party scripts, visitor location and shared-server load, among other factors.
Bluehost states a 99.99% uptime SLA for shared hosting. Its terms describe a possible single 5% monthly credit for an eligible customer who claims within 30 days if uptime falls below the stated threshold. That is a limited service-credit arrangement, not compensation for business losses and not a page-speed guarantee. A site can remain online while loading slowly; uptime and performance are different measures. Read the current terms on the hosting page before relying on the SLA.
The plan’s “ideal for” visitor count is also not a benchmark. If a site has sharp traffic spikes, resource-heavy queries or costly downtime, ask about resource limits and upgrade options—or consider infrastructure with clearly allocated resources.
What “secure” means—and what remains your responsibility
Bluehost lists free Let’s Encrypt SSL and malware scanning across the plans; Business and eCommerce Essentials advertise malware detection and removal, WAF and DDoS protection. Plans also list weekly backups and managed WordPress updates. These tools can reduce routine work, but they do not make a site invulnerable.

It does not fix vulnerable plugins, weak passwords, compromised administrator accounts or unsafe code.
- Malware scanning or removal is not a substitute for asking what is covered, how cleanup works and whether incidents have exclusions.
- WAF and DDoS protection can help filter malicious traffic, but confirm their scope rather than assuming every attack or application is covered.
- Weekly backups may mean losing several days of changes if a site fails or is compromised. Confirm retention and self-service restoration, and keep independent off-site backups—especially for an active shop or publication.
- Managed updates do not remove the need to maintain credentials, review plugin choices and test important changes.
Check whether paid security products are preselected in the cart. A domain-privacy offer described for the first year may renew at a charge; verify the renewal terms.
What the discount costs over time
The phrase “save 70%” is a promotional headline, not a reliable measure of long-term cost. Bluehost’s India pages show different price and discount combinations, and its pricing information says promotional rates generally apply to new customers and the initial term rather than later renewals. The amounts in the table illustrate the difference: using the listed equivalents, Starter rises from about ₹7,164 for the first 36 months to about ₹12,564 for a further 36 months at ₹349 per month. Business rises from about ₹10,044 to ₹19,044; eCommerce Essentials from about ₹23,364 to ₹46,764. All these calculations exclude GST and any separate charges.
Your real bill can also depend on the chosen term, campaign, eligibility, currency or regional page, taxes, domain renewal, email, security products and other add-ons. Bluehost says an eligible hosting plan on a 12- or 36-month term may include one free domain for the first year; the domain renews at the then-current rate unless canceled. The plan table describes Pro Email as a free trial, so check its duration, mailbox limits and renewal price rather than budgeting for permanent free email. See Bluehost’s pricing information.
Before submitting payment, compare the amount due today with the next renewal amount and remove any unwanted additions. If a price or term changes between the plan page and checkout, use the final order summary—not the headline monthly figure—as the basis for your decision.

Bluehost says customers can cancel before renewal through their account or by contacting support to avoid the next charge. Its indexed India policy describes a 30-day hosting money-back guarantee, but says a free-domain fee may be deducted and that domain registration, setup fees and other services may not receive the same treatment as basic hosting. Canceling hosting is not necessarily the same as canceling or transferring the domain. Before purchase—and again before cancellation:
- Save the offer, renewal rate and final checkout summary.
- Confirm the billing term, upfront charge and whether GST is added.
- Check the domain’s first-year eligibility and renewal price, plus privacy renewal.
- Find out whether email is a trial and what it will cost afterward.
- Read refund exclusions, including possible domain and setup deductions.
- Set a reminder before renewal. If you turn off auto-renewal, confirm when access ends and how to preserve the site.
- Download an independent backup before canceling or moving the service.
Is “India” the hosting location?
Not necessarily. The product’s India-market page, your billing country, the domain’s registration, CDN edge locations, server location and backup-storage location are separate things. An India page does not by itself guarantee that every order is hosted in India. Bluehost’s older India shared-hosting page shows data-center choices, while its current Bluehost.com India pages refer more generally to global data centers. If latency for Indian visitors or data residency matters, confirm the exact server and backup locations for the product you are buying, and get any necessary assurance from Bluehost before ordering.
Which plan should you choose?
- Choose Starter if you have a few modest brochure, portfolio or WordPress sites, 10 GB is enough, phone support is unnecessary and the renewal price fits your budget.
- Choose Business if you will host several small sites, need more storage or value the advertised phone support and broader security features. Compare the higher renewal cost against those specific needs.
- Choose eCommerce Essentials if you will use WooCommerce and the bundled commerce tools on one site, and have budgeted for payment, shipping, tax and extension costs. Make sure your store’s workload still suits shared hosting.
- Look elsewhere or plan to upgrade if your application needs root access, background workers or custom runtimes; routinely approaches resource limits; needs predictable dedicated CPU or memory; or cannot tolerate shared-resource contention. A VPS, cloud or managed WordPress service may offer a better fit, but compare its resource allocation, support, backups, location and renewal terms rather than assuming it will be cheaper.
Bluehost’s own pricing page says that “unmetered” resources are not infinite and remain subject to its Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. A large website allowance is not a blank cheque for storage or processing. If you plan to place multiple client sites on one account, estimate their combined storage and workload first.
How to compare alternatives fairly
If Bluehost’s renewal price, location options or shared-resource model do not suit you, compare providers such as Hostinger India, GoDaddy India, SiteGround or BigRock India. Offers and plan terms change, so compare the same criteria for each rather than choosing by the first-month price: total prepayment and renewal cost, tax, data-center choice, storage and resource limits, backup frequency and restoration, support channels, WordPress tools, migration help, email terms and upgrade path.
