Blackview announced the SHARK 8 in late 2023 as the first phone in its SHARK series. Its headline features are a 64MP main camera, a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, a 6.78-inch 120Hz display and a 5,000mAh battery. It is a 4G LTE phone—not a 5G handset—and its launch software was DokeOS 4.0 based on Android 13. As of August 18, 2026, regional storefronts still listed it, but prices and stock differed by country.
What the SHARK 8 is—and when it arrived
The SHARK 8 is a conventional, non-rugged smartphone and the first model associated with Blackview’s SHARK series. Blackview’s launch material and contemporaneous coverage place its announcement in the October–November 2023 period, not in 2026. It should not be confused with Xiaomi’s separate Black Shark gaming-phone brand or Blackview’s rugged BV and BL lines. The SHARK 8’s pitch is a broad specification set for everyday use: a large, high-refresh-rate screen, expandable storage, a high-resolution main-camera sensor and a midrange 4G chipset. Those specifications describe what is built into the phone; they do not, by themselves, demonstrate class-leading photos, gaming results or battery life.

64MP rear camera
The rear camera uses a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW3 sensor, listed at 1/1.97 inches. Blackview also promotes ArcSoft 7.0 image-processing algorithms and Super-PD focusing-related features. ArcSoft is software processing support, not another camera or a hardware upgrade. Blackview’s product listing and its camera-performance video describe these features.

A 64MP figure is a sensor specification, not a guarantee of better pictures than competing phones. Output also depends on the lens, autofocus, exposure and color tuning, dynamic-range handling, stabilization, night processing and video modes. Blackview’s published material establishes the sensor and its processing pitch, but does not independently establish superior image quality. Buyers who care about camera results should look for sample photos and video from the exact regional model, paying attention to moving subjects, indoor scenes and low light—not just full-resolution daylight images.
13MP front camera
The front camera is a 13MP Samsung ISOCELL 3L6. Blackview advertises a face-fill-light feature, but the listed resolution and feature do not establish how well selfies turn out in dim conditions. No independently verified camera comparison is established by the cited product material.
How fast is it for everyday use and gaming?
Helio G99 performance
The phone runs on MediaTek’s octa-core Helio G99, a 6nm, 4G-oriented chipset clocked at up to 2.2GHz. Blackview promotes MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technology alongside it. This is a midrange platform suited on paper to browsing, social apps, video streaming and casual games; it is not a high-end gaming chip. Actual game performance depends on the title, graphics settings, thermal limits, storage speed and software.

The screen can refresh at up to 120Hz, but that does not mean games will run at 120 frames per second. The display refresh rate is a screen capability; achievable frame rates depend on the processor and whether a particular game supports the relevant setting.
Physical and extended RAM
Blackview lists 8GB of physical RAM and up to 8GB of RAM expansion, marketing a combined figure of up to 16GB. The expanded portion uses internal storage rather than additional physical memory. It may help keep apps available in some circumstances, but it is not equivalent in speed or function to 16GB of RAM chips.
Benchmark figure
Blackview’s German storefront lists an AnTuTu score of 427,144. Treat it as a manufacturer-published result, not a guaranteed score or a reliable ranking against phones tested under different conditions. The listing does not establish a benchmark version or complete test conditions; firmware, temperature, battery state and performance mode can affect results.
Display, battery and storage
6.78-inch display
The SHARK 8 has a 6.78-inch display with a listed resolution of 1080 × 2460 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Blackview also uses the “2.4K” label in its marketing; the pixel dimensions are the more specific description. A large panel can be useful for video, reading and games, while a higher refresh rate can make supported navigation and scrolling look smoother. The available product specifications do not independently establish outdoor brightness, color accuracy, touch sampling or adaptive-refresh behavior.

5,000mAh battery and 33W charging
Blackview lists a 5,000mAh battery and 33W charging. The company claims charging from 0% to 20% in 15 minutes and to 100% in 78 minutes; these are manufacturer figures, not guaranteed results. Charging time can vary with temperature, charger, battery state and regional accessories. Battery life also depends on screen brightness and refresh rate, gaming, photography, GPS and network conditions, so capacity alone cannot establish how long the phone will last for a particular user.
Internal and expandable storage
Configurations are listed with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, with microSD/TF expansion up to 1TB according to Blackview. The three-card slot can accommodate two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time. A memory card is generally slower than internal storage, some apps may not move fully to it, and the 1TB maximum should be confirmed for the specific regional model.

Android version and updates
The launch configuration was DokeOS 4.0 based on Android 13. That is an older Android base as of August 2026. Blackview’s SHARK 8 support page provides a product support entry, but the cited material does not establish a clear commitment to a number of Android upgrades or years of security patches. Before buying, ask the seller or Blackview which Android version is installed on the unit and what update support applies in your market; do not assume the launch version describes every unit’s current software.
4G LTE, not 5G
The SHARK 8 is a 4G LTE phone. Blackview’s promotional reference to “5G-like” speed should not be read as 5G network support: the phone does not provide 5G access. Before ordering, check the exact model’s LTE bands against your carrier, along with VoLTE support, carrier approval and local network plans. Compatibility can differ by country and operator, and is especially important for buyers in the United States.

Blackview lists NFC, but NFC hardware alone does not guarantee that a particular bank, wallet, transit service or contactless-payment function will work. Software certification, region and payment-provider support matter. Likewise, confirm the regional model’s specifications and your carrier’s requirements if you depend on dual SIM or specific network services.
Design and regional availability
Listed colors include Moonlight Grey, Scorching Gold and Galaxy Blue; translated storefronts may use slightly different names. The phone measures 168.5 × 76.6 × 8.35mm and is listed at approximately 198.3g. Blackview’s support and product listings identify it as a standard smartphone, not a rugged model; do not assume water or drop resistance without a specific rating for the unit being sold.
As of August 18, 2026, the inspected official regional listings showed materially different prices and stock. The German storefront displayed €169.90, while the Japanese storefront showed a ¥29,200 sale price, reduced from ¥34,100, and marked its listed variants sold out. It may suit buyers who value
- A large 120Hz display for general navigation and media.
- Expandable storage and the ability to use two SIMs plus a memory card.
- A 5,000mAh battery and modest everyday performance needs.
- A low price on an older handset, provided its software and network limitations are acceptable.
Look elsewhere if you need
- 5G connectivity or confirmed compatibility with a particular carrier without additional checks.
- A documented, multi-year Android and security-update commitment.
- High-end gaming, independently demonstrated camera quality or proven battery endurance.
- Verified water/drop resistance, a compact body or a clearly supported local repair and warranty path.
What to check before buying
- Confirm the exact regional model. Check the listing’s storage variant, LTE bands, VoLTE behavior and carrier approval with your operator.
- Verify the software state. Ask which Android version is installed and whether updates are still provided for that region.
- Check the live seller terms. Confirm stock, final price, taxes, shipping, returns, warranty and repair arrangements; storefront availability alone does not establish local service.
- Compare against newer phones at the same price. A newer budget phone with 5G, newer software and a documented update policy may be the better long-term purchase, even if its camera has fewer megapixels.
- Match the camera to your needs. Seek real photo and video examples if low-light shooting, moving subjects or video quality matter more than the headline sensor resolution.
