“Bits not showing” can mean a missing purchase, a Cheer that is absent from chat, an alert that never reached the stream, or revenue that has not appeared in the Creator Dashboard. Those are separate problems. First check Wallet → Bits Usage History: if the Cheer is listed, the transaction happened, and you should troubleshoot chat, alerts, or reporting rather than buy Bits again.
First, identify where the Bits are missing

These systems are related, but they are not interchangeable. A missing on-screen alert does not prove that a Cheer failed, and a successful widget test does not confirm that a live Twitch event was delivered.
If purchased Bits are missing from your balance
- Refresh Twitch or restart the app. Refresh the page in a browser, or fully close and reopen the mobile app, then check your balance again. Twitch says a short delay of a few seconds can be normal depending on the payment method. See its Cheering for Partners and Affiliates guidance.
- Do not immediately buy the same bundle again. A delayed first purchase can tempt you into a duplicate. Twitch says a duplicate payment may remain pending and later be reversed; some pending duplicates can take 3–5 business days to clear. Keep the receipt and transaction details instead of making another purchase while the first is unresolved. See How to purchase Bits.
- Check payment status and account records. Look for a Twitch receipt or transaction record and check whether the payment is pending, declined, or completed with your bank or payment provider. A card authorization is not by itself proof that Bits were delivered or used.
- If the purchase failed, follow Twitch’s payment sequence. Try again with the same payment method; if that fails, try a different method. Twitch also recommends a supported browser or private/incognito window, removing and re-adding a payment method, and checking the relevant PayPal or Amazon Pay billing agreement. Confirm that the funding source has enough funds and ask your bank whether it blocked the online purchase. Follow the steps in Twitch’s Bits purchase troubleshooting guide.
- Pause repeated attempts if a security check may be involved. Twitch says some payment or fraud controls can temporarily interrupt purchases; waiting up to 24 hours before retrying may be necessary. This is a possible security delay, not a guaranteed fix. See Twitch’s fraud guidance.
If you were charged but the balance remains wrong, do not assume the Bits were delivered or that a refund is automatic. Twitch says Bits purchases are generally nonrefundable except where required by law or under limited exceptions. Preserve the receipt and contact Twitch Support if the transaction remains inconsistent.

Rule out a browser or network display problem
If Twitch is not displaying correctly on the web, try a currently supported browser, update it, disable extensions that block or alter scripts, clear Twitch cookies and cache, and restart the browser. Then test without a VPN or other traffic-routing software, on another network, or on another device. Twitch lists supported browser versions and these troubleshooting steps in its supported browsers guidance. Clearing cookies may sign you out and affect other site settings.

Check whether a Cheer actually went through
On desktop, open your Twitch profile menu, choose Wallet, then Bits Usage History. Review the date, channel, amount, and location. Use the location selector to distinguish on-site use from use in Extensions. Twitch documents the Wallet and history navigation in its payment information and transaction history guide.
A matching entry is the strongest practical confirmation that the Cheer was processed, even if its chat message disappeared or no alert appeared. Twitch also points viewers to Bits History when a Cheer is no longer visible in chat; see its guide to Cheering with Bits. If the entry is for an Extension, the interaction may not appear like a normal chat Cheer; contact the Extension developer if the Bits were used there but the expected in-Extension result did not happen.
If the Bits button or Cheer is missing from chat
A channel may not offer Cheers because it is not monetized or has not enabled Bits. The streamer may also have set a minimum Cheer amount, or your region or account may not be eligible. Chat bans, suspensions, or moderation settings can also affect what you can send or see. Twitch’s guide notes that a Subscribe button can be one indication that a channel is monetized, but a missing Bits button alone does not prove Twitch is down.

If your Cheer is in Bits Usage History but not in the visible chat, consider these possibilities:
- The message scrolled away in a fast-moving chat.
- A moderator held it for review, or channel moderation affected its visibility.
- You are viewing a different chat mode, replay, or channel context.
- You used Bits through an Extension rather than a standard chat Cheer.
- The channel’s minimum Cheer setting or other restrictions affected the interaction.
Use the history entry to establish whether the Bits were used. Chat visibility is not a reliable transaction receipt.
If the Cheer is missing from the stream overlay
First compare the stream with Twitch itself: if the Cheer appears in chat or Bits Usage History but not in the video, focus on the alert layer. Alerts are optional presentation tools, and streamers may configure them to show only certain Cheer amounts or types.

Twitch Alerts and OBS
Twitch’s own alerts require the alert set’s browser-source URL to be added to OBS or the selected broadcasting software. Verify that the correct source URL is present and that the source is enabled in the scene currently being broadcast. Twitch explains the setup in its Alerts FAQ.

Streamlabs or another alert service
Check that the service is connected to the right Twitch account, that its event feed received the Cheer, and that the alert is not delayed or filtered. In Streamlabs, a reconnection sequence is:
- Log out of Streamlabs.com and any Streamlabs software.
- In Twitch, open Settings → Connections and disconnect the relevant Streamlabs Twitch connection, such as Streamlabs (Twitch Alerts).
- Clear browser cookies and cache.
- Sign back in to Streamlabs with the correct Twitch account and reconnect Twitch.
- If prompted, replace outdated alert-widget URLs in OBS or Streamlabs Desktop.
Streamlabs says reconnecting can restore delivery of future events, but it will not necessarily restore events already missing from its Recent Events/Mini Feed. See its Recent Events troubleshooting guide.

If the event reached the service but no alert rendered, check alert variations for valid show/hide animations, moderation delays, amount or word filters, and the widget’s current settings. In OBS, confirm the browser source is visible in the active scene, in front of other sources, and not cropped, too small, or off-canvas; check audio routing as well. Streamlabs recommends checking settings, clearing the OBS browser cache, and, when needed, resetting the API token. A token reset requires replacing affected widget URLs. A “test Bits” or test alert button checks whether a widget can render a test event. It does not prove Twitch authorization, live event delivery, moderation, filters, or the active browser source are all working.
If the streamer cannot see Bits revenue
Open Creator Dashboard → Analytics → Earnings, confirm the date range, and look for the Cheering line or total estimated revenue. Twitch directs creators to Earnings for monetization reporting in its streamer benefits guidance. Check that monetization onboarding is complete and distinguish an estimated revenue figure from a payout balance.

Bits used in an Extension may be reported differently from an ordinary chat Cheer, so check the relevant Extension context too. As of Twitch’s May 2026 announcement, monetization tools including Bits were being made available globally to eligible streamers; that does not mean every account automatically qualifies for payout. Twitch says payout still requires Partner or Affiliate status and the applicable minimum payout threshold. See Twitch’s monetization announcement and its Cheering guidance. Do not use the presence or absence of an overlay as proof of revenue.
Check whether Twitch is having an incident
Before repeatedly retrying a purchase or disconnecting integrations, check Twitch Status for incidents under Purchases, Web, Chat, or Broadcasting. If an incident matches your symptom, wait for service to recover before repeating payment attempts. No incident listed does not rule out an account-specific or regional problem.
When to contact support
Contact Twitch Support if a completed payment is not reflected in your balance, if Bits Usage History conflicts with what happened, or if the problem persists after the relevant checks. Include your Twitch username and affected channel, the approximate date and time with time zone, Bits amount and bundle, receipt or transaction ID, an error screenshot, device and browser/app details, whether history lists the Cheer, and whether the issue affects one channel or several. Do not send payment credentials or full card details.
