Yes—Big Fish Games says Windows 10 is supported for its games. That does not guarantee that every individual title will run: older games may still need compatibility settings, display adjustments, graphics-driver updates, legacy components, or permission fixes.
There is also an important date distinction. Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Installed applications can continue to run, but Windows 10 no longer receives Microsoft’s normal free security updates or technical support. If a Big Fish title is failing, diagnose the game or Big Fish app before assuming that buying new hardware or reinstalling Windows is necessary.
First, identify what is actually failing
Big Fish problems usually fall into one of three layers: Windows itself, the Big Fish Games app/Game Manager, or the individual game. Separating them prevents you from applying graphics fixes to an app-installation problem—or reinstalling a game when the real issue is a blocked download.

Also test another Big Fish title if one is available. If other games work, the failing title is less likely to indicate a Windows-wide problem.

Try these low-risk fixes first
- Restart the computer.
- Install available Windows updates. The general path is
Start → Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates. Menu wording can vary by Windows 10 build. - Try the game again.
- Check free disk space. Downloads can require more temporary space than the final installed game size.
- Test another Big Fish game. This quickly distinguishes a system-wide failure from a title-specific one.
- Write down the exact error message or code. Do this before changing several settings at once.
Big Fish’s Windows 10 guidance specifically recommends updating Windows and restarting as initial steps.
If the game will not launch
Run the game executable as administrator
For many Big Fish installations, the game is located in a folder similar to:
C:Program Files (x86)[Game Name]- Open the game’s installation folder.
- Find the game’s
.exefile. - Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Test the game.
If this works, the immediate problem was probably a permissions or security restriction. It does not prove that the game is fundamentally incompatible with Windows 10.

These steps are based on Big Fish’s PC launch troubleshooting guide.
Test Compatibility Mode
- Open the game’s installation folder.
- Right-click the game’s
.exefile and select Properties. - Open the Compatibility tab.
- Enable Run this program in compatibility mode for.
- As a starting test, choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3) for games released before 2010.
- For games released after 2010, test Windows 7.
- Select Apply, then OK, and launch the game.
Big Fish provides those release-date suggestions, but compatibility mode is a test—not a guaranteed solution. If it makes the game worse, return to the same tab, clear Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Apply, and test again. Try one setting at a time.

Microsoft explains that older programs can stop working after Windows changes because of changes to architecture, security features, or system requirements. If manual settings fail, use Microsoft’s Program Compatibility Troubleshooter guidance.
If the game crashes, freezes, or displays a blank screen
Set display scaling to 100%
Older games can behave badly with high-DPI scaling such as 125% or 150%, producing clipped controls, incorrect sizing, or an inaccessible interface.
- Open
Start → Settings → System → Display. - Find the display-scaling control, labelled something like Change the size of text, apps, and other items.
- Set it to 100%.
- Apply the change, restart the computer, and test the game.
Display labels vary between Windows 10 builds and monitor configurations. Restore your preferred scaling after testing if it was not the cause.
Try a different resolution or windowed mode
Big Fish’s general Windows troubleshooting guide suggests testing 640×480, 1280×720, or 1920×1080. If the game offers windowed mode, try that first. Otherwise, right-click the game executable, choose Properties → Compatibility, enable the lower-resolution option, and test.
This is an experiment, not a recommendation to use a low-resolution desktop permanently.

Update or roll back the graphics driver
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device and choose Update driver.
For the most reliable driver, use the official support site for your graphics hardware—normally Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, or the computer manufacturer. Avoid third-party “driver updater” utilities. If the problem began immediately after a driver update, rolling back that driver may be more appropriate than installing another version. Temporarily disable overlays
Overlays and capture tools can conflict with older games. Temporarily disable, where applicable:
- Discord overlay
- GeForce Experience overlay
- Xbox Game Bar
- MSI Afterburner or RivaTuner
- Steam overlay, if relevant
- Other screen-recording or performance-monitoring tools
Restore these tools after testing. Do not leave security or monitoring software disabled as a permanent fix.
Fix missing DirectX, .NET, or Visual C++ components
A newer version of a technology does not always include every older side-by-side component that a game needs. For example, an error such as d3dx9_35.dll is missing can indicate a missing legacy DirectX 9 component even when a newer DirectX version is installed.

- Check the game folder for directories named
Redist,Prerequisites, orSupport, and run the official installers found there. - Repair Microsoft Visual C++ entries through Windows’ installed-apps settings when the game or Big Fish instructions identify them as a prerequisite.
- Keep .NET current through Windows Update.
- Use Microsoft’s DirectX guidance for legacy DirectX components.
Only obtain runtime installers from Microsoft or the game’s official installer. Never download individual DLL files from random websites.
If downloading or installation fails
- Return to the game’s purchase history or download page.
- Respond to every browser prompt and allow the Big Fish Games app to open when asked.
- Confirm that the destination drive has enough free space, including room for temporary files.
- Check that your account is signed in and that you are installing the game from the correct purchase history.
- Run the installer with appropriate permissions.
- Briefly test whether antivirus or firewall software is blocking the download or installer.
- Re-enable protection immediately after the test. If a narrowly scoped exclusion is necessary, follow your security vendor’s official instructions.
Big Fish lists download and installation error codes including 599, 703, 760, 771, 772, 801, 805, and 998. Do not assume a code’s meaning from a forum or generic list; include the exact code when using Big Fish support. See the official download and installation guide.

If the app will not open, the problem is probably not the game’s resolution or compatibility mode. If the app opens but one title fails, troubleshoot that title first. If every title fails to download or activate, investigate the app, permissions, network, security software, and account state.
Big Fish recommends downloading the current app from its official site and reinstalling it when the app displays an error. Its dedicated guidance also covers errors 760, 900, and 257700, which have a reinstall-and-test workflow involving a free trial or a game from Purchase History.
- Confirm that you know your Big Fish account email and password.
- Verify that you can access your purchase history.
- Back up local saved games or note their locations where possible.
- Download the app again from the official Big Fish troubleshooting page or official Big Fish site.
- Reinstall it, sign in, and test a free trial or purchased game.
Do not assume that reinstalling the app preserves every local save file. Account purchases and local save data are separate things.

Will upgrading to Windows 10 delete Big Fish games?
Big Fish says a normal Windows 10 upgrade should not remove installed games or applications. However, a normal upgrade is not the same as a clean installation. Back up saved games, installers, and account information before any major operating-system change.
A game can remain installed yet stop launching because the upgrade changed permissions, drivers, display scaling, or required components. In that situation, reinstalling or updating the Big Fish app may be necessary even though the game files remain.
When only one very old game still fails
If newer Big Fish titles run and the app works, a single old failure is more likely to be title-specific than a general Windows 10 incompatibility. Possible causes include:

- A legacy graphics requirement or unusual screen resolution
- An incomplete or damaged installation
- A 32-bit dependency or unsupported legacy installer
- Copy protection that no longer works reliably
- An activation or security-key problem after a hardware or operating-system change
- A game build that needs a title-specific patch or workaround
Compatibility mode cannot fix every unsupported installer, copy-protection system, or missing dependency. It is also not accurate to declare a game impossible to run solely because it is old.
After the general troubleshooting steps, try windowed mode or a different resolution, run the title executable directly, and check the game’s official support page for a title-specific solution. If the problem remains, contact Big Fish with the title name, Windows edition and build, exact error, graphics adapter, whether other games work, and the steps already attempted.
Activation and security-key errors
A request for a security key or a failed activation is not necessarily a graphics or Windows-compatibility problem. It may follow a major operating-system or hardware change. Keep the message exactly as shown and provide it to Big Fish support rather than repeatedly changing display or driver settings.
Recommended troubleshooting order
- Restart the computer.
- Install Windows updates.
- Test another Big Fish title.
- Run the game as administrator.
- Test Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7 compatibility mode as appropriate.
- Set display scaling to 100% and test a supported resolution or windowed mode.
- Update or roll back the graphics driver.
- Disable overlays temporarily.
- Repair or install required DirectX, Visual C++, or .NET components from official sources.
- Test antivirus or firewall interference briefly, then restore protection.
- Reinstall the Big Fish Games app if the app or multiple games fail.
- Contact Big Fish support with complete diagnostics.
This sequence starts with the least invasive changes and helps identify whether the failure is system-wide or limited to one title.

What to tell Big Fish support
Include:
- Game title
- Windows edition and build
- Big Fish Games app or Game Manager version, if available
- Exact error message or error code
- Whether other Big Fish games work
- Graphics adapter model
- Whether the problem began after a Windows, driver, hardware, or app change
- Steps already attempted
- Screenshots or logs if support requests them
